Sad day for the people at the hotel for sure.Hope they can rebuild asap.
Thank Jah for no injuries.
Was the hotel open for business? That swimming pool looks pretty green to me....
Rock from what i understand is that its now used mainly for locals, some staff from the big AIs live there, i stayed there 3 times back in the 90s once in the block that caught fire
Markus
slackness in installing a fire suppression system..water storage tanks for example..
only foolish people rely on under funded fire department
i saw the tigress go up in flames..they had to use my water hose to save their house
lane
it had started to go down hill back around 2003, not sure why, but on my last stay there you could start to see the signs, repairs not done, one thing i do remember was the "chef" wouldn't do me a burger so i had to get a taxi driver take me to burger king.
its sad really because it was a nice place to stay even if a bit of the track
Rock..your right.there was no commander on site...
Just a guy with a hose
For some reason I cant think of where this place is? What is it near? Looks like it could be a really nice place with a little fix up.Less the burned out block.
Pool...located down Summerset Lane which is near the Banmark.
Guess I need to take a walk up Summerset lane never been up there before!
I've been up to Devine Destiny a couple of times because the Margaitaville bus picks up there after Seastar and other cliff propertys on the way to the beach.
It's always been a bit sketchy looking, at least since I've been going in the late 90's.
I remember one couple on the JUTA bus back to the airport around 2000.
They had just completed their Devine Destiny vacation.
She had a black eye, and he was acting like a redneck and cursing Jamaica.
Everyone on the bus was embarrased by the way they were acting and loudly complaining about Jamaicans.
I'm sorry to say they were from my country.
They had nothing good to say about the place and were cursing about the cold showers and power lockoffs and just about everything.
very sad mon.........mi was afraid that sumthin like this was going to happen......
a lot great memories from der.......cottage was across da street......
use to use the pool der most everyday for a swimmy.......staff was always nice..........
place was built around '92 and Devine Destiny was THE place when it first opened..........
had the first swimup bar in Negril..........Bar always had the drinks and beers flowing........
it was guest friendly and a lot of people use to stay der......it was priced right and it was new
then less and less guests stayed der.......place got run down......then went into Bankruptcy.........
place was just hanging on........then this fire........and so it goes in Jamaica........
Cool Runnings, Marko
