Birthday Trip- Part 1

After a 3:30 wakeup to catch our 5:50 flight, we end up in the front row on Southwest. Being the nice guy that I am, I take the middle seat and give my wife the aisle. Doing well until friggin Andre the Giant plops his oversized body next to and on me. This guy had to be 6'10" 375#. Apparently, as long as you can squish your torso between the armrests, you are free to take up 1/2 the seat next to you by your massive shoulders. Not cool. I was looking forward to snuggling on the plane, but not with him. I put up with that for a bit, then moved back to a half empty row towards the back.
After an uneventful flight from Orlando, we landed in Mobay on time around 12:20.
Not knowing how the wheelchair assist thing worked, I had booked us Club MoBay just to cover my bets. As it turns out, we didn't need the Club, but hundreds of others were probably wishing they did as we passed them by on the way to the front.
Minutes later, we're in Ashton's car heading towards the Pork Pit. Figured we didn't want to wait over an hour to get to Bigga's, where we usually stop. The food was excellent at the Pit and very convenient.
After a brief stop in Green Island for some supplies and to change money, we're at Idle Awhile, where our suite awaits.
First things first, we prepare a sub and then head down to the bar for our free welcome drink and to dip our toes. Ahh, the nice warm Caribbean, we've missed you. Attachment 40495

With just a short trip this time, only 7 nights, planning is almost needed, something I rarely do here. With several nights already roughly planned out, we figure this is our only night if we want to go to LTU, so we jump into the first Taxi that comes by. After a weak attempt at trying to get me to pay double, we settle on a $1000J fare. LTU is dead tonight. Only one other table occupied and not even the usual characters at the bar. Horror of all horrors. service is actually too quick. The coconut shrimp and stuffed snapper are good as always and we head back to our room.
Have always wanted to stay at Idle Awhile. The suites are really nice, and could easily fit four. The view is a huge let down compared to our usual spot, the Owner's Villas at Nirvana, but what wouldn't be? The ocean view rooms have much better views, but not a lot of privacy.
Had breakfast at the hotel the next morning, nothing special and with only one waitress working for the first hour, it was very slow. The setting made up for the shortcomings though.

Woohoo! A trip report! Sorry about your "flight buddy"....

Saeyedoc I feel your pain my last flight I got stuck by a very large woman made for a very uncomfortable ride and our plane was full so no chance moving. But you made it more updates please my countdown is getting long.

You mentioned what is my 2 fav beach spots . Nirvana and Idle awhile. They are different but both good

So after a day wandering the beach and such, Lembert pulls up around 2. We're first on so my wife can get a seat with her bum leg, so we get to see the whole thing develops. Turns out to be a great crowd, a mix of ages and Negril experience. We have the only subs on the bus, but some others helped us get rid of them along the way. Got to see some spots we'd never been to, including Just Natural which is so cool and weird and random.
Ended up at the Love Nest again for a great sunset.
Went with the flow and had dinner at Sunbeach where a great reggae band was playing.

YAY! Trip report. That is one big man. They need to do something on airlines for this. Had it happen to me and I could barely breathe, stuck in the middle.

My favorite place to go for sunset drinks and a sub! It's fun watching the One Love bus pull in. The place goes from quite to party in about 60 seconds. Then the bus leaves and it's back to quiet.

I had to sit next to a extremely large woman and her young child on her lap, and mine. don't think I could handle this again. keep up the good trip report. where is the "love nest"

LOL...everyone always hating on the big boys....I always make sure to reserve seating to minimize any discomfort for other passengers. I sit in the aisle and lean out into it so I am not invading anyone's space(I lean back in when the stewardesses are going by). I find it funny that my friend who's coming with us who is also 6'2....but 210lbs. has issues with airplane seating as well. Oh well.

Looking forward to more of the trip report as its off to a pretty good start. We see about starting up one of my own next week while on site. Should be a fun run at 16 days pon da rock! :)
