100 candles dinner at Ivan's is magical. Reserve in advance.
Ivan's is real nice. We like kuyaba. It's our favorite. The beach, the water. The food. It's just perfect.
ivan's for me. . . . don't need the 100 candle price. the same ambiance without . . .
kuyaba feels rushed as compared to ivan's . . .
Ivan's
Kuyaba
Hungry Lion
Ciao Jamaica
Ltu Pub
Swordfish Grill
why not have both?
true, both can be enjoyed . . .
Blue Mahoe
I have done both. My pick would be Kuyaba I think the food was just as good and definitely better price than the 100 candle. Ivans was nice don't get me wrong.
blue mahoe, the food is fabulous but somehow it lacks any kind of vibe/atmosphere . . . almost barren . . . love the mango creme burlee . . .
I agree with doing more than one. Kuyaba for a cocktail and bacon wrapped shrimp appitizer, then off to Ivans for entrees. Bon appitit!!
ate at kuyabas more then a dozen times over the years and ivans twice....both times at ivans where great with my times at kuyaba being more hit and miss....more hits then misses to be sure. both are great and i would say try both and when you get home let us know your thoughts.
We ate at Blue Mahoe a couple of nights ago. The food, ambiance and staff were all spectacular. If you haven't tried it, I'd highly recommend it.
Kuyaba once and Ivans twice for the 100 candle dinner. Both times we had mother nature issues at Ivans. Once they forgot to make the printed keepsake menu and it was too windy for candles so we had about 15. Once we got rained out we went anyway and just dined under the pavilion. Food was excellent both times. Nature cant be helped so we would go again. Next time I would skip the 100 candle extras and just dine with the others as others have said. If you haven't done it though you should at least once. We preferred the scenery from the cliffs. If you prefer beach do Kuyaba food is excellent at either.
Personally, I love all three! We have had fabulous meals at Kuyaba, Ivan's, and Blue Mahoe. I took some crazy good pictures at Blue Mahoe during a storm.
Try the grilled conch appetizer at kuyaba
Kuyaba too touristy for me, the gift shop was a big turnoff. Food Ok, but Ivan's is great.
We stay on the cliffs, so the view is not the thing at Ivan's...it's the candles and I would hope the food.... And I am concerned with the winds or rain..We Have not tried the Blue Mahoe, so my wheels are turning.....And Kuyaba has been great food. I guess the cost of Ivan's is the problem, is it really worth it??? We want a lovely view, with a wonderful meal and a special touch. We had that with a beach dinner at the Sunrise. lol I guess it is all irrelevant, cause I will be with the one I love. We are practical. Thanks for all your help.
Its very worth it!
Without the whole 100 candle thing I think cost is pretty comparable. The only time we stayed on the beach we had dinner in the upper table, forget what its formally called, and I cant remember what we had. Guess thats why I'm skewed towards Ivan's perfect Seafood Pasta and Jerk Penne. Call and ask for a table right on the cliffside, hopefully they'll accommodate and the scene will not disappoint.
Blue Mahoe is my favorite restaurant in Negril right now. The bread was fabulous! Everything is good. The service is perfect. I love Ivan's (they consistently beat Kuyaba on the grilled lobster.) I like the atmosphere at Kuyaba and enjoy being right on the beach listening to the waves lap up. Attachment 40550
Where is Blue Mahoe located?
I dream of the crab cakes from Kuyaba probably once a month!!! They have my vote. If you can get the crows nest for a sunset dinner there is nothing like it in my opinion.
Ivan's. If you are practical, skip 100 candles and just have a long dinner at a seaside table. Kuyaba is wonderful but a little less private. Blue Mahoe has a great location, good food, but the service is really uneven.
out of all three, (kuyaba, blue mahoe and ivans') ivan's hands down. skip the candles, it's the same vibe and atmosphere without that added cost. the views are stunning and food outstanding. it's lively . . .or you can have your table set up on the lower level all alone!!! no candles needed!!!
Exactly! If the price of the 100 Candles Dinner is a deterrent, then skip it and just reserve a regular table and order off the regular menu. Still amazing food in an amazing atmosphere. (Although, I encourage everybody to experience the 100 Candles at least once - we did it one time and probably won't do it again unless it's a special occasion.)
I'm surprised to see so much love for Kuyaba. We enjoy Kuyaba almost every trip, but it is not up to same level as Ivan's in terms of food, service or atmosphere/vibe. I would probably rank Charela (le Vendome) above Kuyaba, but still below Ivan's.
We ate at Kuyaba last night and the food was just as bad as last year..........Had to send mine back as it was cold.......and then only ate half of it.......Not the same as it once was........
Kuda, Blue Mahoe is at The Spa Resort in the area when you first start up into The Cliffs.
eaten at both places recently and over the years.......
Ivans is by far the best choice.........especially at sunset......yah mon
Cool Runnings, Marko
the only begging I have suffered with at Kuyaba is all the damn cats! I have to admit I've never smelled the tablecloths in all the times we ate there
we've never tried Ivan's yet (or Blue Mahoe), we've stopped at the bar at Catcha in afternoons and checked out the dinner menu only to be shocked at the prices so we ate elsewhere (have actually experienced that twice)
Thanks Jama Ginger
ivan's prices are in line with blue mahoe and kuyaba. no difference, really. or angela's at bar b barn or sunrise club across the road, pretty consistently same!!!
I tend to agree to an extent with the description of barren. They need some green plants or something around on the dining verandah. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I think it is ugly by any means. I just think it needs something to add some warmth. The food is soooooo good.
