In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
I was wondering if pepper spray is available or even legal. I once had a problem with a dog on the road that I do not want to experience again.
Picking up the fake stone didn't work this time. We did get away without getting bit.

In short, the law in relation to pepper spray appears to be that its importation is prohibited unless the commissioner of customs and excise gives permission, but no permission is required to possess it.

Did I hear dog problem? Ruff :)
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
I could of sworn I saw it for sale at one of the gas stations and at a store at the start of the cliffs. At both places it's sold from behind the counter but in plain site.
IMO, it's a catch 22, if we can go there and buy or import people with badminds can also get their hands on it. I use to carry it for work and on accident got sprayed twice myself---- f-ing hurts like hell. Not 100% sure being high or drunk and using it would be really safe. Prolly safer than some local women who carry tubes of battery acid to protect against attacks/rape.
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
I bring it and leave it with a taxi man when I go home.Thankful I have never needed to pull it out but I feel safer after dark with it.
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
In a bind you can use a can of Raid bug spray but not convenient to carry around.
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
Any Hornet and Wasp spray works. Most are designed to spray 20 feet or more so it can reach a nest built high up. Much greater range then pepper spray or usual bug spray. Legal also.
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
wasp/hornet spray will do the job, a local woman used it on a attacker and it worked, and a plus is he was easily id'ed, he was the one in the emergency room.......lol
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
I had a problem with wasps at my apartment and looked all over, but never saw the special sprays for reaching wasp/hornet nests that are out of reach. Anybody know where you can find it?
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
Wow, Scotch Bonnet pepper spray! That's what I need in the kitchen. Bam!
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
Any hardware store, big box home improvement store, Walmart, etc..... will carry hornet /wasp spray. Usually in garden center area with other pesticides. Just ask a clerk. Numerous brands will all spray a stream 20 - 25 feet.

Understand wasp/hornet spray can blind a person, where pepper spray is temporary. So if you plan to use wasp spray on someone be ready to suffer the consequences. The incident must be pretty serious to prevent yourself from landing in hot water. And if you do buy it look at the higher priced products as they typically shoot further.
This product is fantastic and also provides protection if you hit a live wire. http://www.spectracide.com/Products-...et-Killer.aspx
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
For sure it will do some damage but you have to protect yourself. And at what point will you decide, after you have been robbed or worse? Hate to be in that position but welcome to the real world.
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
No one is arguing the need to protect oneself....just the method of doing so. nonlethal, temporary solutions like pepper spray carry far less risk of legal repercussion than say battery acid or wasp spray. Its not so much about the need as the method. One choice is a smart solution that will be every bit as effective in the short term as wasp spray or other agents, without the risk of doing permanent harm. When others have stated pepper spray is easily acquired in JA, CHOOSING to use wasp spray and the like just seems like a silly choice. Why utilize a makeshift solution when "purpose-driven" pepper sprays are available. "Welcome to real world"? The "real world" is one where you face charges for permanently disfiguring someone, possibly even if it was alleged they were intent on doing you harm.

Nice DB comment. You decide when you choose pepper spray or wasp spray, before you are even in a compromising situation. That real world enough for you?
Re: In the land of the Scotch Bonnett is Pepper Spray legal?
Hornet spray will not fit in your pocket like a pepper spray will.

I believe the dogs will neither sue nor press charges.
