Who has used it and is it worth the money?
We haven't used it yet. But I definitely thank its worth it. I read lots of positive vibes about it.
There are lots of posts on this board regarding Club Mobay - check out the search feature. You don't specify arrival or departure (or both). I've used the arrival service once and felt like it was a waste of money because there was no line at all. I've also arrived in Mobay without arrival service and stood in line for 2 hours, so it's a toss-up depending on what day and time you arrive.
We've used the service several times on departure. It was nice to relax and make use of their bar. The snacks are okay, but nothing special. We always wait until we are actually at the airport and thru the airport check-in to decide if we have enough time to make it worthwhile.
We arrive at noon on Saturday May 30th. Sounds like it could be a busy time. I'm pretty sure we are going to get the departure service. I'm trying to decide if arrival is necessary.
Anything that makes travel day a little bit easier is definitely worth it! We've been using it for both arrival and departure for several years now. Won't go without it.
We (actually me) waited to long to make reservations this year and when I tried departure times were all booked up. I've never have had a problem with arrivals. My two cent opinion is weekend departures should be reserved well in advance.
Worth every dime for both arrival and departure.
Booked both ways mid-April ............... Wednesday arrival can be busy PLUS we want to get to Negril ASAP to met some people .............. Saturday departure also busy plus the group is leaving on all different flights ................... the lounge will be sweet
We will post a report ASAP
Have used both and will always use arrival service. If we arrive and it wasn't needed so be it but I have spent hours trying to get out of the airport. $80 for two to get to Negril and hour or so earlier is well worth it to us. We have used departure service a few times and don't know if we will next time or not. MoBay has a great airport and I have no problem spending an hour or two shopping and eating in the terminal. The departure line doesn't bother me much since I am already depressed about going home. If you want to drink a lot before departure the club may be worth it for you. The snacks are ok but I saw many people ordering in real food from the terminal restaurants. Arrival service is my new favorite.
Arrived on a Saturday in March at 1pm and Club Mobay saved us 2-3 hours! It was so worth it. We sped through the long, hot passport control lines. A Club MoBay rep checked our documents before they let us step up to have our passports stamped. We had to wait 20 mins for our bags. Went thru special customs line with our bags. Had a red stripe, rum punch and refreshment in the arrival lounge before meeting our driver and shopping at mega mart. The trip to negril was much happier thanks to club MoBay. I checked Sangster flight stats for Saturday and saw flights arriving every 10 mins. Our Club MoBay host said they had 1,000 bookings that day. Zero line departing on a Wednesday evening but the lounge was relaxing and the snacks and pumpkin soup was good and the two dirty bananas were yummy! I've had departure lines before. Will always book the arrival/departure package. It gives me peace of mind.
Thanks for all your input folks. I think we will book both ways.
Something to consider if you are staying at Couples Negril or Swept Away:
If you use Club Mobay for arrival, but the Couples courtesy shuttle doesn't leave Sangster until everyone on their passenger roster has made it through the long lines, then what exactly have you saved? Friends of ours had this happen last year, and say that they won't pay for Club Mobay again. Yes, the Couples Lounge at Sangster is much more comfortable than standing in line, but Club Mobay doesn't get you to the hotel any faster. It probably works like a charm if you are catching a taxi from the airport.
My two cents...
Above is one of the many many reasons we don't stay AI ;). .... Used Club MoBay for the first time for our Feb trip both ways and will do the same in the future. Lines were not bad when we arrived ... Probably 30 min to an hour total but with no checked bags we were through in about 10 minutes!! Chilled in the lounge until Kingsley was ready to roll to Negril!! Departure didn't add much cost so why not for all you can eat patties!!
Used it for both arrival and departure and it was the best money spent in our three week vacation. Arrived at 2 p.m. with several other flights at the same time and was out of the airport in our taxi within 20 minutes, and that was taking the time to change into our shorts and such and grabbed a quick bite in the Mobay lounge while they located our driver for us!! Leaving on a Saturday, at least on March 14th when we flew home, the line up for immigration/security went from one end of the airport to the other and back again, but we dropped off our bags with WestJet and were fast tracked from there and were sitting in the Club Mobay lounge having cold beers, dirty bananas and snacking on patties, soups and slider sandwiches within 20 minutes again. Will never do anything but again!!!! Club Mobay all the way says mi!!!
We've used it for departures every trip. Since we usually schedule inbound to Mobay for Wed. mornings we always beat our bags to the luggage carousels. For departures it's nice. Less stress going through security (shorter lines) and having a nice place to chill before the flight. Foods ok but the chips and snacks you can grab for the flight home are a big plus. Plus it's less hectic than the terminal so you keep the reality that you're heading back to at bay for a few more minutes. Lesson learned, departing Feb thru Apr. book well in advance.
I always use it for arrival...worth it to me. For departure...I wait til I get to the airport...lounge isn't so important at skipping a long line for security.
I just went Club MoBay on arrival. Hope it's all its cracked up to be for Saturday arrivals.
I've used it a few times and it was nice, but I actually feel the airport is doing a good job getting people through lately ,we've been coming in on Friday so I understand the passport lines will be a bit smaller then but we usually leave on Saturday,it hasn't been bad, talking jan 15 and early June 14,if you're gonna use it on departure I suggest getting to the airport early to take advantage of the snacks and stripes. We seem to want to stay til the last minute before leaving negril so we hit bobsled or margaritaville for much less,I believe, jmo ,it'll be cool no matter what, you're still in jamaica ,ya mo
Agree with Ricky... There's barely enough time for a bathroom break and a Stripe before they herd you onto the shuttles.
Hey Chris! Seems as though I agree with Ricky too since Lisa and I just paid for Club MoBay yesterday, lol.
In my post I was referring to Larry and Marie, who told me they doubted they'd pay for Club Mobay this year because the Couples shuttle waited so long last April.
Either way, I'd rather be in a lounge than in a customs or immigration line!
We just booked our flights for Mid-December. Now my thoughts are turning to Club Mobay and if it'd be worth it. We'll be arriving around 11:30 AM on a Friday. My current feeling is that I should be early enough as to NOT need the arrival service. Would someone like to talk me into Mobay?
Landing Friday April 18th @ 1:30 pm.........................Club Mo Bay????? It's afternoon...bad...it's April...good...what to do??
Used it several times as I have a lot of vouchers from my west jet business travels, I would definitely pay for this when leaving Mobay especially - but also quite good for arrivals to speed through the lines. Last used April 6th, 2015
Check airport flight stats to see how many flights arrive around the same time.

Personally I will always book Club Mobay. Peace of mind is worth a lot to me.
Here's this Friday's arrivals..... Should be the same for next Friday

Winter of 2014, we arrived at the airport to find our flight was delayed 4-5 hours due numerous uber storms in the U.S. and Canada that messed up the planes. We were in the departure lounge with people who had been there for more than 24 hours. We headed to Club Mobay but they politely and apologetically told us they were booked solid and could take no more guests. We were disappointed.
We were also quite impressed that they respected their capacity and ability and didn't try to stretch their resources to make a few extra bucks. Good move.
Winter 2015, we booked for departure - same time of year, and bad weather happens. It was great! I was sort of disappointed we left on time! LOL .. and couldn't further enjoy the atmosphere.
No, it isn't a 5 star restaurant. Didn't expect it. But I did like the fact that all the food was in small portions, so you could eat as little or as much as you wanted/needed, as you wanted and needed. There were 3 lounges - a quiet quiet one; a family one with a nice relax area for Parents, and a great kids play area where the kids could run/play off steam (oh, where were you when my kids were young and we were delayed ..) and a nice "regular" lounge. All had the same food and beverage service. The food was good, nice selection; varied. The staff great!
We would do it again, for sure, for departure.
Have never tried arrival, but, once we've landed, we're there, there's no snowstorm looming, so just wait in line, and enjoy the anticipation! Might do it one day, though.
Certainly recommend it for departure, particularly in winter when who knows what can be happening at home!
I personally have never spent more than 1 hour in line at arrival in the six visits last year. Always meet interesting people in line. Arrived at 11:30am on January 31st looking at 6 people in front of me and had to wait for bags. 2:30 pm is another story. For the reasons mentioned by M&G we always book return in case of delays. Nice way to end a holiday. Some hotels ( like Treehouse) sell return with 5$ off if paying cash.
Trying Club Mobay for the first time tomorrow
OOPS Friday the 17th.....
Okay, so you have got lots of advice, so I will throw mine in. GO FOR IT !!! and I would call soon as possible as they only allow a certain amount per flight.
There is nothing better than being guided right to the front, and go through the airport in 15 minutes.....verses a possibility of a long wait.
Then a stop in the MoBay club to refresh, have a cold beverage, and then they help you out to the front until you connect with your driver... Safe travels whatever you decide....see you at the bash!!!!!
well we are bringing newbies....so we will wait just like we have always done....And the wait adds to the anticipation~~ Lets see that ticker~~
The real question that begs to be answered is why the heck does it take sooo long? I've been to Cancun several times and it is so much more efficient.
What's the general opinion on the number of flights coming in within an hour of arrival to make Club MoBay a good idea? I'm arriving at 11:35 on a Wednesday the fist week of May. At the moment I think there are about 11 flights arriving within an hour of mine on a Wednesday. Seems like a lot... but then maybe not as many in May as now during high season? Any input would be appreciated.
