Back from Negril April 10-18 with pics
GF and I had an amazing time. My 11 trip overall and first time back since 2008. Most of my past trips have been in February where I have seen little rain. This time the clouds and rain came daily by early late afternoon. Clear by night and gorgeous mornings. Did a red-eye from L.A. to Miami and Miami to Mobay arrival by 10:00 am on a Friday. Quickly through customs. Our driver Patrick picked us up in his nice A/C Toyota Van. Super nice guy and we would highly recommend him.
Our first stop was Hammonds's Bakery for meat patties.

Soon after our stop we were checking in to the Spa Retreat. Easy to see why this resort is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. Amazing staff and grounds. Only 3 plus years old and quality built. Love the salt water pool. We booked one of the upper cottages with a view of the sea. Quiet nights.

So after spending time at the Spa Retreat Bar our first day (Friday 10th) making friends we went to listen and dance to live music at Drifter's Bar. Great time!

Each night at Spa Retreat ended at the bar. The bar staff was amazing! We had the best time and will miss them. Duwayne, Deon, Richmond, Shilette, Delroy,

Thanks for the info on the spa retreat. I have been curious about it as trip advisor has such a high rating but I rarely have heard much about it on the board. Seemed a bit fishey to me. We will stop in for dinner next trip to check it out. What is the beach like . Is it a walk in or a jump in? Thanks

Ask for Shane Thompson, He's one of the chef's there at Spa Retreat. He use to work at Rhodes Resort before he went to Spa. GREAT GUY!!! And the mon can cook!!!

We stayed at Spa Retreat 2 years ago. Absolutely loved it and the staff is simply amazing. The owner, Shane even hung out with us at the bar!

We stayed two nights at Spa Retreat last April. It really is as great as everyone says! We stayed in one of the seaside cottages. If it weren't so expensive I'd love to spend more time there. We always visit Blue Mahoe for dinner when we are in Negril - the food is fabulous!

At the beginning of the cliffs. Not far from the 7 mile beach.

No beach except for the man made one near the pool. There are ladders to enter the sea in 3 or 4 locations. The cliffs there are short. Maybe 5 feet or so.

By midweek of our trip we moved from Spa Retreat to Negril Tree House smack in the middle of the 7-mile beach. This was our first time here. You can't beat the location of this resort or the value. Certainly not upscale or modern like Spa Retreat it does have its Negril charm. We booked room 6 which is a second floor beach front. Actually it's set back a bit from some of the other beachfront rooms but offers a great view of the pool, beach, and bar. The one big plus is that you can receive the free lobby wifi from the balcony vs the room wifi which didn't seem to work to well. The only negative's is that the shape of the buildings make for small oddly shaped rooms. Plus the lack of real windows (wood slats) that tend to let in all the beach music from who know's where into the early morning hours. The balcony is awesome and the bathroom spacious although the one outlet and super high mounted mirror made it impossible for my 5 foot girlfriend to use. Definitely a big difference going from Spa Retreat to Tree House. LOL! Even with the negatives I really enjoyed Tree House.
Room 6 is straight back in the middle of this photo...I'm guessing that the beach front room to the right in the photo are much more spacious. Next time I will try to book those or the suites.

Did a little bit of stand up paddle boarding just off of Tree House. Paddled out to a reef a few hundred yards off the beach and a bit south. I rented the board from Tree House. A little beat up but worked just fine.

Can certainly see how that could be a problem. We sat towards the back and it had rained quite a bit so we didn't smell anything but the yummy meals being cooked up.

Nice Report! We stayed at The Spa 3 years ago. Looks like they've added some spots (umbrellas) for shade which was much needed! Dewayne was a great guy glad to know he's still there. Thanks for sharing!

Another excursion we did during the week was a trip to Half Moon Bay and lunch at Calico Jack's Pirate Shack. We called on our trusty drive Jubba who we had met earlier in the week to take us there. It was actually his first time there as well so we invited him to join us and treated him to lunch. He picked us up from Tree House and approximately 15 minutes later we arrived. Next time we'll plan on staying here all day as this beach was beautiful and the snorkeling looked great. Unfortunately the rains came early today and we weren't able to enjoy it as much. Still had a wonderful time though!

Our driver Jubba. Super nice guy! We met him outside of Catcha Falling Star when we had dinner at Ivan's a few days earlier and had him give us a ride back to the beach. For lunch Anna and I had the jerk chicken and Jubba had the grilled fish.
