** on-site Trip Report ~~ Friday eve...5/29

Good good evening EVERY-body...!!!

Things STILL great for me this trip.
Still hot hot hot
and
the humidity is so high some times i feel like i'm gonna drown
but i'll be fine

i'm proud of myself,
because i took-time to un-pack, and put away things.

last night dinner was
fried bonita fish
yams
boiled bananas
and dumplings

landlord & i agreed that we both gonna try to do more green veggie like things

morning breakfast,
same thing.... i.e., leftovers
plus,
mangos (of course), fresh from tree
and
ripe bananas

you/me/we in-foreign are being cheated with the garbage they're selling/feeding us

for example,
i'd forgotten that if you let a mango sit over night and if it's really and truely properly rippened, it will LITERALLY be sweating juice ..... the sweetest juice you ever wanna taste

for example,
i was walking out of Mr.Cherry's supermarket,
after getting a pack of CravenA .... Ja$720
and
a Ja$108 Digicell flex card

when,
a voice said:::>> ""..Hey, Picture-man .... you dropped something..""

* whew *

i could chat 'bout THIS-incident all day long.

Firstly,
the person speaking
was a young guy selling produce at the supermarket entrance

i'd seen him
when i entered,
he looked familiar, but paid me no mind, and did him same-way

the thing-y i'd dropped was a just-purchased excercise-book
for my trip notes, and other things
i'm old-school, so still need & use paper & pencil & pen

Well,
i've not done that-*stuff* in a long time,
but evidently he remembers, knows, or heard-about me
from some some-place or some-bodies

for the past-several trips,
i've been packing light
and
opt-ed to make purchases of things-needed
HERE-on-island.

today
popped in at a shop
and got 3 medium men's mariners
cost... Ja$300

at those prices,
i should buy a case
and take 'em back to USofA
and sell 'em, na tru

earlier,
was chilling in Lucea town
on the verandaH,
but too too many people saw me
and
lots of chattin' blah blah blah blah

so,
*found* a *new* chill spot::::>> on wall over the river, near the police station

not too many people
pass that way .... so far

the heat not too bad today
'cause a little cloudy
but humidity still up
but there's a slight breeze, to make things more bear-able

i felt like i needed something(( ??? ))
to drink/sip/what-ever,
so,
started to walk over one of the bars,
for a beer
but
changed my mind,
and got two juice-oranges
to suck on

better for me

cost::>> Ja$100 ... fresh peeled

earlier,
thirsty same-way

popped in at 7thDayAventist carry-out
and got a NICE pineapple & sorrel drink

cost... Ja$200 ... 'bout 12 oz.

when i went out
to smoke
i *found* my jelly-coconut man

:-)

he wasn't in-town, at his spot earlier,
but him there NOW...!!!..

he/me/we were all-smiles when i walked up
along
with a bunch of joyfull plesantries with some of his buddies
who were sitting at his stand.

i purchased a jelly,
and he picked a NICE one.
....LOTS of juice,
and the jelly soooooooooooo-soft,
like not -quite-set jello

a question arose
'bout the Spam

ok
here's the deal::::>>> as i mentioned in a report a few years ago,
my Ja-mentor likes from-foreign Spam
because (according to her)
foreign-Spam has a higher salt content,
which she prefers/likes

yesterday, i forgot to mention
when i got to country
i made a quickie trip
back to Lucea-town
to check-in with my Ja-mentor

she wasn't working at her shop,
which didn't surprise me,
since she's now teaching at GreenIsland HighSchool
but,
i'll link her on Saturday

but to my pleasant surprised,
when i walked into the shop,
one of the employees told me:::>>> "....Here ..... she told me to give this to you..."""

Huh..??? --- me said

in the *usual* black-plastic bag,
were two cell phones.

Thank you for the splaination........and my favorite fruit in ja are oranges! haven't found anything sweeter in the world than a ja orange. fresh, frozen, squeezed i still get a thrill eating them. mangos are a close 2nd, then bananas and grapefruits! cuse me i need a cigarette!
