Help ensure they never suffer again
Hello Everyone,
We are raising money to bring Magic Mike and Friendly Fred, both three legged dogs from the Montego Bay Animal Haven to Canada for a better life. It is difficult for three legged dogs to find good homes in Jamaica. Any donation would greatly help in making this happen. Also sharing the link on your FB pages would be appreciated.

Thank you so very much.
Happy Day

This is a photo of Magic Mike prior to his surgery. Someone had broken his leg with a plank. He is such a sweet boy.
Thank you for caring

This is a photo of Magic Mike after his surgery. He is being taught to lay in a crate for his airplane travel. We are trying to raise enough money so the two three legged dogs can come to Canada prior to the heat embargo.
Thank you

Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
Thank you Jitterbug so much.
You will be able to follow Magic Mike and Friendly Fred's journey from Jamaica to Canada on happygirlpuppy's Facebook page. Happy Girl is a three legged dog we found in Negril perishing in a pile of leaves after being struck by a car. She now lives in Canada and has her own line of healthy dog treats available in 20 Pet Valu's. Our lives were changed when we met Tammy Browne at The Montego Bay Animal Haven. Now we do everything we can to support and help the dogs in a country we love Jamaica.

Thanks again.

This is Friendly Fred the second dog we are raising money to bring to Canada. Unfortunately someone machete his leg. Even though he has been through so much he has never given up on humans. He has such a gentle spirit. If you are able to help our fundraiser it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
i have to be honest, have a really hard time with the cruelty that some ja folks dish out towards the animals . . . really hard to comprehend!!
Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
i will correct my statement, . . . not just in jamaica, lot of the cruelty going on at home too . . . (sorry, no edit option to me)

True, but at home it isn't socially accepted as it widely is in JA.
Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
tah, you are so right, but i'm afraid to be too outspoken on negril.com in fear of losing my posting privileges . . .

Horribly sad but true...the cruelty is everywhere.
We still see an incredible amount of puppy mills and dog/cock/bull fighting etc that's accepted around the world...we see heartbreaking commercials asking for donations for medical care and/or to raise awareness from North America....
It can be difficult to see animals running around in Jamaica without the care and understanding that a country with more resource is able to offer.
There is still a big fear here of being torn apart by packs of dogs and as I was typing this had to run out of the house to break up a stray pack of dogs scaring a child.
We are taught to care/feed our children/family first and once our families are fed will help provide for those including animals that are lacking in resources.
In the short amount of years that I've lived here I've seen a lot of change (of course Rob's seen even more in his 25 years)...there are many more households that now treat their animals as wonderfully spoiled pets...with the teachings and care from the vets and people like Tammy from Montego Bay Animal Haven, free spay/neuter clinics from foreign that have helped and kind hearted people like Brian and Sandra, Jamaicans like everyone are learning how to care...

Our dogs on Zion Hill. Soon to have puppies.
The brown female ("Zion")lived her first 3 years with a chain around her neck living under a piece of zinc and hardly being fed. The previous owner thought that she might eat fowl. To his credit he didn't just kill her.
She's a happy dog now and so is her boyfriend "not yet" we've had since a puppy:

Not yet was a pretty chill little dog when we came by, and the name cracked me up.

Here is a great new video of Magic Mike and Friendly Fred that Tammy at The Montego Bay Animal Haven just shot for us all to see. She cares for over a hundred dogs and feeds the strays in hopes that one day they will trust her enough to go with her. This woman does amazing work. Her dedication and the others like her is inspiring. Any donation would greatly help in bringing these two wonderful dogs to Canada. Also sharing the link on your FB pages would be appreciated.

Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
brian & sandra . . . when i checked my master card bill, the amount i donated went to "HAPPY GIRL DOG TREATS" based out of vancouver and $3 fee went to "you caring.com" . . .
i have no pm privileges and can't ask this in private.
how much of the donations do you actually get for this project? and how is happy girl dog greats connected to this mission?
Re: Help ensure they never suffer again
Hi JitterBug,
I am not sure which donation amount is yours because I do not know your proper name. Youcaring.com does not take fees, but the donation processor does, however, take 2.9%, plus $.30 per transaction. We make Happy Girl Dog Treats and set up the fundraiser using the account. It was just easier that way for set up. All of the funds that we collected are going to help Magic Mike and Friendly Fred. I hope I have been helpful. If you have any questions please let me know. I know you do not have pm privileges here so if you want to message me privately you can do so on Happy Girl Puppy's Facebook page.
Happy Day
Sandra and Brian
