the Negril bus-park???
Yes
Cap
Somehow I just can't imagine Jamaica ANYWHERE without 2-3 and many more Cook Shops at a bus park.
Hey Smith,
if you go all the way to the back on the right of the Bus Park, like you are taking a short to that soccer field, there is a cook shop, looks new.
Anyway, the last time I was taking the short cut that will lead behind the police station the best smellin food was coming from that shop.
I think it was yellow and newly painted.
I did not stop, but I intend to check it out next reach.
THANKs
for the heads-up..!!..
:-)
i KNOW
EXACT-ly
where & what you talkin' 'bout
been there in the past
WILL-be checkin' late-next-week
on my next short-short trip.
in fact,
will be doing some SERIOUS forage-ing
for cook-shops & other *similar* set-ups
around Negril.
and::>> i'm REALLY *curious* about some after-work, happy-hour, dinner-type places, TOO
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
i KNOW who/how/where to check:::>>> WILL-try to link with that guy (if he's still alive) who is/was bed-ridden/paralyzed, who lives back in that area, beyond the foot-ball field.
ummmmmmm
what was his name..???..... Terry...??..
and/or::>> check with my Ja-barber, TOO
thanks again, Markospoon
an aside:::>> *they* got some nice-nice *sweetie*-vendors @ that bus park, too.
the mark-up $$$ ain't that bad, either/neither
You're most certainly welcome Smith.
My J-Barber is where you make a right off the main road like you are going to Red Dragon (Jerk Pork place)
He is in the 2-man barber shop on your right.
Across the street from the Little School.
Smith, when driving through town in the evening I always see loads of people and vendors between the bus park and Corner Bar, I don't think you can go hungry at that time!
*Seen*, Lady
but,
do they have box-dinners..??..
are they eating a meal..??...
when i say ''..meal..''
me no mean peanuts from the peanut man
or
sugar cane, from cane man
or
roasted corn, blah blah blah
me want dinner... a real & proper meal.
:-(
i've seen that loads-of-people,
but
in the evening (aka Negril rush-hour),
all those folks are on their way home
to eat a home-cooked something-something
my suggestion....head right next door to the bus park to the lot with the little places lining the lot. Good food, big box full, cooked by Omar at Noah's. Noah's place is on the far left as you enter the lot, second little place (first one was for rent in the summer so not sure if occupied now). Some good eats and good price. Love Omar's fried chicken and Noah makes a pretty good JA breakfast every Sunday morning (Omar's day off). Sunday they only serve breakfast. Breakfast and lunch served up Mon to Sat.
boardie-northerncaligurl ~~~ I OWE YOU big-time
you pluck-ed my old-feeble pea-brain
..i KNOW that area
........last i checked, my first (now-former) barber was there ... will check to see if he's still there
.............i was *think*-ing there should be some cook-shop(s) der ...after-all, dem taxi-men, and other folks GOT TO eat TOO na tru ...... with *different* price-ing rate$ ....... and for some sweet Ja-cuisine, that's prepared for their pallet
WILL be checkin' it out..!!.. ---- ESPECIALLY for breakfast
* sigh *
if only there was a place(??) for a nice dinner.
......dunno why everybody goes home to cook/eat, after work.
:-(
thanks, again..!!..
Smith...many go home to make dinner (or get take out from one of the many vendors) for their families just like anywhere. After work (depending on work hours) you'll often find people hanging out closer to home for dinner/happy hour...sort of a neighbourhood gathering spot...but there are many nice restaurants/bars that are dotted around the downtown Negril area that get busy with locals if that's what you're looking for....
Seen, Lady..!!..
:-)
i unna-stan,
I **NEED-to** do MORE Negril *explore-ing*
,,,but THANKs for your feed-back .... appreciated

Hey Smith, if you really want to explore some new cook shops, with the whole meal??
Go through the short-cut behind Taxi-Park.
stay to your left. first cross street you come to go left down it, then take the first right.
Go 2 blocks and make a left, then a right, go straight...
Man, I think I must be there to show you the directions.
I am getting a little confused my self.
But, around mi in-laws house there are cook shops all over the place.
3-4 to choose from within 2 blocks!
It was great!
Markospoon....!!!! ...... YOU-de-Man...!!!...
with all those workin' folks in Negril,
[[[ with those touri$t dollar$ --- tip$, higglin', etc etc decent Ja-$alarie$
I FIGURED there'd be some *stuff* back up in derthey ain't all going home to cook dinner
when i go,
should/could be fun-time
lol
lol
lol
such as the first time i roam-ed back there,
several years ago
and
one of the Negril-working-regulars
saw me
he had this puzzled ""...WHAT that-tourist-guy doing back here...???...'''''
...asked me was I lostlol
lol
""who i know back there/here..??..""
lol
lol
'twas big fun.
Same thing happened to me.
The guy was riding his bike, did a double take, came to a stop, then said
"Man, you got a girl living back here??"
Now he sees me all the time.
I asked my Sis-in Law
"which is the best place for a dinner.
She called the little 11 year old girl.
"take Mark to get a dinner.
I felt funny, "I can find it"
"No, the girl said "You must go to the best one, always hot food cooking"
We passed 2 restaurant type places, made a left, then a right and
pulled up to this place with those huge pots still on the fire.
Sit in and eat or to go.
Since the music was blaring, I got it to go.
Been back many a times.
And the soup!! My god, the soup was divine/heavenly! :-)
Enjoy Smith! Nothing like a fresh hot home cooked meal! I crave Omar's fried chicken and it is usually my first meal when I get in. And every Sunday morn is Noah's breakfast!
