Sounds more like someone wants to set up their girlfriend or friend with a cook shop! Just checking out the competition without doing a demographic study.

I dunno Bill. You planning on staying Nay-grill 'stead of Lucy? Have your Lucea landlord pack you a lunch when you travel to Negril.

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
Smith, it was an odd question coming from you, thus I tease. It is like your cook shop inna bus park question, YOU know shops and vendors are all around, things change up over time but chances ARE, some food will be there.
And still you should come find out in person... :)

and
i'm trying to gather info
to minimize my running-around, hunting, forage-ing, etc time

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm
a quickie '''..breakfast..'' question:::::: ON Negril beach-front,
is/(are) there any place(s)
that sell local-cuisine, at local-prices
my old-old likkle pea-brain is having a hard-time recalling
:-(
i'm *thinking* that maybe::::
......Cosmos [[ though not all that ''..local..'' on the prices ]] .... ???
......One-Mile ..???
long-tme ago,
there was a place down-near Ray's Water-sports
any of you's know of any places, ON the beach-front ???..... NOT on the beach-road (aka, '''the back-of-the-house''').

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
Hey Smith, How are you bub?
I was just there and I only saw Fish Market.
I could have missed a place if it was there.
-
Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
Cosmo's is about as far from "local prices" as you'll find, with a few exceptions.

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
Try Sips n Bites up on the west end. Very good prices, good portions, and almost everything I've eaten there has been excellent. Good breakfast. Across the street from De-bar.
Lots of locals eat there.

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
Smith! Just catching up on your trip report from wayyy back. Not in the vicinity you mentioned, but as you know, Miss Sonya makes good breakfasts. Hope Miss Sonya is doing okay. Haven't been there in a while.

If you consider a beer a breakfast then it should be "No Problem". Cheap is cheap but a breakfast under $300J? I guess it depends on what you call a breakfast.
-
Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
bill, between between bar b barn and miss mary's in that lane, great local food. if i send the yard guy to buy it, it's 300. if i buy it, it's 700. i think it's called 3 star? local pricing . . .

Smith,
Just to clarify, when you say "*they* STILL doing that [[with the pricing]]", are you referring to the folks at 3 Star or are you using this single comment to paint all Jamaicans with single stroke?
-
Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
*they* are people other than "us" which can often be other races, economic status, etc.. I think that Smith744 (with his 'chop chop' form of Patois imitation) probably feels HIS "us" includes all Jamaicans when in reality he is just a white (mostly), tourist like the rest of "us". He probably feels offended that he is not given the deference that he deserves in his mind.
Someday most of "us" will recognize that we are not *they* and will forever be a tourist and thus always considered an "us".

Re: ?? breakfast down by the riverside..??
3 Star down the alley from Miss Mary's is like $400J's for a medium Brown Stew Chicken or Fried Chicken etc....
then if you walk out da alley from Miss Mary's to the beach and hook a right......
you go past Bourbon Beach and the next place has a bar and another box meal place right on da beach that is inexpensive too.....
some other inexpensive places are a cook shop on da likkle road that runs between Scotia Bank and dem Salon shops....
box meals der are like $300J's.....and then you have the Corner bar around da corner and a meduim fried chicken is $350J's......
and if you head up to Sunshine Plaza where HiLo is.....you will see the infamous Jerk Hut Stand that serves up great box meals...
think at the Jerk Hut the small box meal is as low as $250J's......and then as medium is $300J's......
if you pay more than $400J's for a medium box meal in Negril.......you paying too much.......
Cool Runnings, Marko
