I just saw that Rastafari Rootzfest the co-sponsor of the Cannabis Cup will offer one day passes to this event.

Hi Moose,
Where did you read that one day passes will be available?
It was a tweet from Rastafari Rootzfest responding to someone asking about day passes.

Thanks Moose! I was hoping for this :) We will be there for 7 nights, I didn't want to commit 4 days and $270 dollars to the affair, but we were hoping to check it out. Looks like we might get to after all!
I'm arriving early afternoon on the 14th, with it right in Negril (found out after I had booked my trip), it was like the stars have aligned , but when I saw $269 for a four day pass and HT saying they will not offer a one day pass
Hopefully the cost is a lot more reasonable.

Looks like locals only rates are 2500 J; so a big fat flip of the bird to anyone coming in for this from outside Jamaica. I was coming down before I found out about this; I would go just to say I was there if the ticket price was reasonable. $269 for a 4 day pass, even bigger flipping the bird right back at you HT.

Moose, couldn't agree more!
Here is an interesting article from todays Observer on the Negril event.

Looks like a great event with a solid music lineup. That being said 269 bucks can buy you a few garbage bags full of ganja. if I was down there at the time I'd probably settle on just one garbage bag... And scope the scene and schedule out... When Taurus is playing I think I'd figure out how to get in pretty quick and if not I'd hang close by and enjoy the sweet tunes and tasty green.
Moose- you'll be so captivated by Jamaica and its people and culture that you'll probably forget all about the event once you get there! And it all else fails... Just say youre a local you look like you might pass!
I guess unless you're Jamaican the one day passes don't apply. That seems like discrimination to me! And I thought it would be the tourists they were wanting to attract. Hmmmmm! Oh well. Obviously I was wrong. Will still have a great time, as always and will enjoy using that kind of money for lots of other things!
Instead of looking at it as discrimination or 'the finger' toward yourself/selves, see it as a fair chance for locals to attend something that many Jamaicans (most?) don't have the employment opportunities YOU have, to afford the retail price. Some antonyms for the word discrimination: equity, fairness, justice.
Oh I don't think of it as a finger towards myself because of the local rate; I feel we are getting the finger/shaft because it is pay $269 for a 4 day pass or don't go; especially after there were $40 one day tickets available when the CC was in Colorado. I totally agree with a locals rate 100%.

Just hang around the edges, there will be plenty of action to be had. I would have been more unhappy with the situation had they not given the locals a break.
Lol... Single day tickets now available for $95. #Nope
~Moose
I hear ya, Moose. Lots of better ways to spend $200 (per couple)!
Lola, I wasn't really serious about the discrimination statement, though I did think it was more the tourists that they were trying to attract. Even at $25 for the Jamaicans I think is quite high since I'm sure many of them don't make that much in a day. Maybe that's why I am quite the generous tipper when I am there to try and help them out the best I can (sometimes tipping at 40-50%). And I do agree with CosmicMoose that $95 for one day is still quite high (no pun intended!)
Particularly since I can't see spending the whole day there. I feel like a few hours would be more than sufficient.
What I'm wondering -- although this is considered low season, do we think this will draw in larger tourist crowds? Will it not LOOK like low season, ya think?
Rebecca, I arrive next week, have been watching flight arrivals to gauge whether or not to do Club Mobay... air traffic was kind of thin the last few weeks but next week WOW there's a lot more flights arriving along with mine and Club Mobay has no more reservations available for my flight (darn)! Although its low season, tourist arrivals ramp up heading in to American Thanksgiving.
thanks to the folks on this board, http://www.flightstats.com/go/Home/home.do
I don't have tickets for the event yet... We land on Wednesday.. Where do I go to find tickets upon arrival?????
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rastafa...901652?aff=es2 or cannabiscup.com/Jamaica
Expect $269 for 4 days or $95 for a one day ticket.

What would be considered "a lot" of flights. We arrive at 12:00p tomorrow. The arrival schedule looks like this:
11:15
11:44
12:00 (us)
12:35
12:42 (two arrivals at this time)
Is that a lot? No Club Mobay for me, so I'm just wondering if I should prepare myself for a long wait....
It depends on the luck of the draw on the actual arrivals
15 minutes one way or another can mean 50 minutes of delay.
Ya pays your money and takes your chances
I got thru on Friday in 15 minutes during that same window.

Bring a pen with you on the plane and make sure you fill out everything on the form. (I think) its the back of the form that everyone forget to fill out...
Then there's alot on ansy confused people trying to fill it out real fast... you know the bottom of the stairs at that table to the right! You dont want to end up there as everyone goes right past you...
have Fun Rebecca Pettyjohn- please post a trip report when you return! ;)
Check the Negril Service Center for most updated prices and requirements at door! Advance one day passes cheaper. Also option to buy online!
When does the event officially start? Can you get tickets right at the gate?
Today! IDK about the tickets. I think I posted a link ^^ up there or << back a page.
