Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
I was supposed to be leaving next Friday for an 8 night reach in Negril. A family medical issue caused me to cancel and reschedule. This put me into January and my faithful Negril Tree House was booked solid. I felt this was a great opportunity to try out the cliffs. I booked SOTC thru Negril One Stop and got a great deal compared to the usual travel sites. I chose a seaside room with a queen bed and fridge. I also read about a Sunday pool party? Anyone?
I am staying 6 nights, thinking about adding a couple more days to the trip and lounging at Travellers or somewhere on the beach.
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
Well think you made a great choice RonMon..I will be making SOTC my home for the 9th year of the 23 years going to Negril always staying on the West End. I stay there for 6 weeks starting in late January. Hurricane Ivan took the 1st place I stayed for many years away..so a 2 year brief stay at Sunset On the Cliffs during Ivan rebuild rates led me to SOTC...passed that place hundreds of times though all those years thinking it was out of my price range...til a local friend told me to check it out...been there ever since...I just love this property & the staff...I call it a boutique type of resort property. Every room has an outstanding ocean view (get a 2nd fl.room) vantage view is better...you won't be disappointed. If you haven't done so already..check out Tripadvisor for pics & feedback of the property. Can't wait to return to see all my wonderful friends & get into my JA vibe again.
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
I had cocktails there once and swam in the pool.
Right across the street is Eddie's Da Bar. Great grilled Lobster.
You will be fine.
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
Awesome guys! Thanks. Like Rooster said I had only scootered by, never stopped. My now ex- girlfriend insisted on staying on the beach but I made sure we spend some eves on the cliffs. I fell in love, I think the vibe is totally different than the beach. I am stoked about the trip! Also, thanks for the advice on the room.

When January do you arrive?
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
This place was always home away from home. Location is awesome, two negatives IMHO the beds are as hard as a rock:( and the Sunday pool party well lets say the LOCAL girls come out to party there, the music is unbelievably loud until 1am and there usually is a good amount of trash around the property after wards. I'm sorry if I sound negative but just telling the truth and because of these issues I have not been back and this place I use to frequent 4-6 yearly

NO, I appreciate your reply. I am still seeking information. It came down to SOTC or XTABI, but X was $450 more for 6 nights so I chose SOTC. Tell me more about the pool party? So are you saying some "working" girls come out or is it just a good time local crowd?
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
Let's say it is not a party that draws the tourist crowd. The crowd is mostly MUCH YOUNGER LOCALS (early twenties) ,so what were you thinking and doing at that age LOL. I am a seasoned Negril traveler for 26 yrs and lived in Sav for 6 months back in the 80's so I no way am negative towards the local people but that party draws a crowd that I am not interested in but maybe you will enjoy. I would have to say the girls that are there are working the crowd.

Oh wow. Sounds interesting, I didn't expect it would get much or a crowd, let alone a rowdy party crowd. If its gets too crazy we will just retreat to the balcony.
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
No it's not rowdy but VERY loud and really takes away from the tranquil feel of the cliffs. We arrived on a Sunday and after traveling all day we wanted to sleep about 930 and could not until 1-130 because of the noise but not any different than a concert on the beach I suppose
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
Interesting to me too..being that my stay there (SOTC) is always late January til early March...cuz I've never seen this Sunday party you talk about in my 9 years...I spend most of the day at the beach then come back to SOTC to hit the pool for the rest of the day til sunset...including Sundays...always a nice quiet chill'n time going on. Maybe it's an off peak season thing. I'm personal friends with the owner & will have to ask about this Sunday party. Basically I'm telling you RonMon don't worry about during your stay. A question for you Rosalie is...have you personally witnessed this & if so...when?
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
Yes we stayed there at the end of April n into May so it could be an off season thing for some revenue because it is slow at that time n much money to be made on alcohol
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
If that's the case than no worries for a January stay
Re: Sunset on the Cliffs....... advice?
That's kinda what I thought Rosalie..there's no way that kind of behavior would ever be excepted during the time I spend there. That high season time & you gotta get it while you can....in fact I was told by the owner (June..I always book direct with her) back in August that they were pretty much booked up from December to March.
