Trip report day 3 - with a minor setback

Ate at Peewee's for breakfast, super reasonable and Elvis is a nice guy. Def recommend for a good cheap breakfast.

Took a cab down to pushcart for lunch but they don't open until 3 pm, so I had a bite st Rockhouse along with a few purple rain. Wow really good! I substituted rum instead of vodka and think it was a good call.

Caught a taxi down to Barney's Hummingbird Garden, got a few to eat out of a small feeder in my hand. Beautiful colors and speedy! Also seem to be bigger than ours back home.

Caught a route taxi back because of a storm brewing.

Chilled out a bit and caught a red plate back to Pushcart. I sit down and order a red stripe, and one of the workers walks up "dis your wallet"? ****! yea mon! "I found it under the gate like it had been thrown there, no money in it." ;(. I had about $5000j and about $35 usd but no credit cards luckily. I ended up with my wallet and ID. I think I must have dropped it in the cab, the driver took the cash and tossed it. The manager said no problem take the red stripe and come on back. Walked back, replenished some paper in the wallet and went back. Ordered another red stripe and soon my Nyammings platter was on my table. Had to try the curried goat and oxtail. It also has curried chicken and bushman stew along with some rice. I enjoyed it.

Oh yeah hadn't mentioned this before but holy darkness after sunset, Batman! Unfortunately I have yet to see any stars, clouds, idk.

Sorry to hear about your wallet. I have a rule I have exact taxi money ready before I get in no wallets out no showing how much money I have.

Cap, will def keep Linston in mind next trip. This was a route taxi, but i guess he broke his route because he was empty and turned around to take me, so he's then a private taxi, I suppose?

I ended up giving a real nice tip at Pushcart and asked the manager to take $500j and give it to the guy that returned my wallet. As I'm leaving one of the guys said he'd make sure that I got a driver he knows.

That's how I roll, too. Don't want anything bulky in my pocket and don't want anybody watching me fumble through my wallet at the vendor stands, etc. I usually carry my ATM card, as well, however I've never had a taxi driver turn me down when I have run out of cash. They will be happy to wait outside your hotel while you run to your room to get more money.

But yeah, my wallet stays in the safe with my credit cards and ID.

Yeah, last March, my wallet fell out of my back pocket onto my seat when I got off the plane in Montego Bay. I realized it at the currency exchange, went to the Delta desk to have them search the plane and they found it on my seat but my wallet had been emptied of $600 USD but credit cards and ID were still in it. So I just pulled $500 USD out with my credit card and had a good vacation! Hard lesson learned!
