KT and Deano pon di rock!

Not sure how much of a report this will be, but knowing how I devour the pictures and goings on in Negril while I'm counting down the days, I'll do my best.

We arrived yesterday at 1:24 and had cold Red Stripes to our lips at the bar outside of the airport no more than 15 minutes later! Jahmazing! I felt bad for the folks that spent some of their soon to be Jamaican Dollars on the Mo Bay club. Tuesday is my new travel day!

2 sips in and I hear Steve Positive calling out to us. I love how every year we tell the waiting drivers that we have a ride and they try to convince us to go with them. This year, the line from our wannabe driver was, "Well, I'll be your Plan B." I told him that Plan A never fails.

As we headed to Negril with smiles as wide as our soon to be horizon, it started to rain.....and it rained hard! Cars were pulled over or had their flashers on, the water was up to the wheel wells on the cars, but with Steve, everything was positive.

Red Stripes ended up being dinner and we hit the hay early--I think we maybe got 2 hrs of sleep on Monday night.

After a great night of sleep, we woke early and marveled at how wonderful it is to have the sea be the first thing we opened our eyes to. We headed down the road thinking of the wonderful blue mountain coffee that was soon to be ours at Canoe Bar.

2 pots of coffee and breakfast in our bellies (I had Canoe eggs, Deano went with the #1), we headed over to the Cambio and Hi-Lo to get some coffee for the room, Ting for the Tito's vodka, Limes for the Gila tequila (they had none! :( ) and a few other items.

It was fun to see all of the school kids heading to school in their uniforms. Their modes of transportation were anything but uniform. We really don't know just how good we have it in the States. These parents and kids work hard to get to school.

We hoofed it back before the sun was too high and felt that we had worked off at least a couple of last night's Red Stripes.

Today was snorkeling, swimming, snorkeling, swimming and then watching the storms.

Mike_D.....we love this place! Can't beat the view!

Big Shiny--we're here until the 27th and then we head to the beach. Up until today there were only us and one other couple. Today a few more guests arrived.

Staying 'pon de cliffs? Peewee's is great for breakfast too; two eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for $5j.

PeeWee's is a great place. Our first time there we came in for breakfast, Elvis showed us around, we sat at one of the tables under the roof and talked about what to order. The empress decides she wants some french toast, eggs, bacon I think. Whatever, cool, I'm gonna probably get the same thing... A few minutes later Elvis comes back out, and quietly asked what we wanted. We order. Elvis looks at me kinda funny, says; you know thats...(holds up fingers)...four plates, FOUR PLATES (with emphasis). I'm like, yeah it's cool, a little of everything. He looked at me funny again, said okay. He came back out with so much damn food we were embarrassed. Kinda laughed it off and said yeah, now I see why you tried to warn me.

Been coming back ever since then, he's a good guy.

Funny you should mention that, Moose, because that's exactly where breakfast took place this morning--a trip would not be complete without a breakfast cooked by Elvis. You really can't beat the price. Or the view. Or the ambience. Us Wisconites sure do like Pee Wee's!

We are actually staying on the beach first and then heading up to the cliffs the last few days to avoid the marathon chaos.

You guys should find us and.....um......uh.......I forget. ;)

ill be back to see Elvis tomorrow for my last breakfast on Jamaica. ;(

After De Bar (my mouth waters just typing that), we went back to the resort and then headed straight for the pool....I was so relaxed....got out and actually fell asleep poolside in a lounger. Almost missed our first sun sunset where you could see the sun melt into the liquid horizon. A great end to a fantastic day.

Thursday's agenda was snorkeling with Famous Vincent. We convinced another couple from the resort to go with. He picked us up and we headed to Rock House to see if he could get some more people. I didn't bring a camera--sometimes I feel a camera interferes with me actually experiencing the moment. I wish I had one though because we saw Bob Ross' Negril doppelgänger at Rock House. Perhaps the artist in residence?

Our trip with Famous Vincent was fantastic. I've gone out to the reefs with another vendor a few times before, but Famous Vincent is the best. He gets in the water and gives an amazing tour. We ended up picking up a friend of his and his guest on the beach before snorkeling and afterwards we went to Booby Cay. The Heavens had opened and we were baptized by the rain on Booby Cay. It's all good!

We took the boat back to it's docking spot in the Negril River since the sea had gotten a bit rough. The driver from our resort, who just happens to be Vincent's cousin, picked us up and took us back to the resort.

A quick change into dry clothes and it was off to Chicken Lavish.....yum. I had the sweet and sour chicken and Deano had the jerk chicken. I gave him a bite of mine, and I know what he'll order next time we're there. The breeze off the sea combined with the ceiling fan made for a perfectly cool setting to enjoy lunch.

Yesterday we had lunch at Seastar, chatted with Rob for a bit and then watched the Packers beat the Vikings from the comfort of our air conditioning....Monty cooked up some delish lobsters, peas and rice and veg. He's a true chef.

We've been snorkeling everyday since we arrived! This is a first for me. Last year the Sea was so rough that I'm not sure if I got out more than once, but this year! The Sea na mash mi snorkeling Irie!

Called Steve Positive this morning and he picked us up to run a few errands and then to Red Dragon. We ran in to Hedge who we met last year and threw back a few cold ones and then The Pork (caps intentional)....The Pork! Oh how we love that Pork! I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
