Decent priced place on the South part of beach?

Any recommendations for a decent priced place (sub-$100/nt) on the South area of the beach? For easy access to the cliffs area (great food).

I was looking at the map, and perhaps Travelers? Anything else you would recommend?

The one thing I didn't like about the cliffs, if you were feeling lazy and just wanted to be in the water, you can't just stand there because its ten+ feet deep as soon as you get in. Good for snorkeling, not good for being lazy. :p

Unf this would be sometime next year at the earliest. ;(

Moose, my wife is not a good swimmer but loves to spend a couple of hours in the water. We bought inflatable life vests, I don't know $30 or so, and they pack real small. She likes it better than the beach.

Yellow Bird. Although it might not be far enough south for your desires. It's across from Cafe Goa (Selina's).

Alfred's, about a km from town, is where we always stay. The rooms are basic w/o TV or phone, but we love it, and an oceanfront room is only $60/night.

Not to mention the best rum punch on the beach! Does get loud though on the nights they have live music.

Maybe try Bar b barn?

Mom's Place

Well,not the beach but xtabi has stairs going down to a area that you can walk out to the ocean,I've spent plenty of time there drinking a stripe,watching people get the nerve to jump from a nice height ,just taking it in,,,,,

Moose, I second Moms Place. Right next to Bar B Barn, rooms aren't fancy, but have nice patios, secrurity, good food, and nice bar. Close to music spots,
and not far from town. Under 100 A night. Nice beach area as well.

Negril beach club condos. You can get a studio apartment with kitchen and huge covered balcony. Very nice piece of beach and walking distance to town and many restaurants. Make sure you have the condos with Jean, not the hotel.

Negril Beach Club Condos or Travellers. Like Rumlover said, make sure you book a condo through Jean.

I knew you would go back!!! I never stayed at Travellers, but we've gone there quite a few times and I would definitely stay there. Stayed at Beach Club a few years back, that would probably work for you too. (With Jean) We usually stay in the middle or towards the other end. We have also stayed at Merril's a few times - It's AI but very reasonable - I've gotten specials there that made it cheaper than a room somewhere else. The nice thing is if your at the beach, you can have drinks, and we would have breakfast there usually, but always go out for dinner.

We already are talking about next November! I think the villa may be an annual trip :)

If you're looking at Travelers, keep an eye out for their groupon/livingsocial. I stayed 5 days there using that. It included bfast which is nice.

Barry's Bold As Love Guesthouse next to Mom's..

K, I just did 9 nights at Travellers for under $550 total so lemme tell you the price is RIGHT my friend. I booked through Travelocity, and went with the basic cabin with kitchenette. It was clean and comfy, as long as you can handle no AC. They have rooms with AC but you're going to pay more. The property is cool. There's usually something going on (DJ at the pool, Karaoke, etc). Right now there is barely any beach, the water comes right up to the steps, but that didnt bother me cause I move around a lot anyways.

Can't really speak on the food, I didn't eat there. I think I got a Purple Rain once and it was good.

I'll shoot you some pics of the property on FB.

You're not going to get closer to town / west end, but there are other options close by that you could look into. We used the beach access that runs by Barry's Rooms everyday, and that place looks rad. Might look into that, I know I'm going to.

Barry is a great guy and has lived on that property long time now, he know all the runnings, is honest and cool. Can't go wrong mon!!

Beach club condos have plenty of beach if that's what you are there for. The pool, not so great. I'm there for the beach and shade is an option there.

Just saw travellers for 1050$ all in. Sounds like a deal to me . It close to some good food also .

I had reservations for Mom's Place, and when I got there they had no rooms. Never even heard of me. Was my girlfriends first time being out of the country, let alone Jamaica. And after spending 3+ hrs at the airport and running into this fiasco, then a TERRIBLE dinner there. I wouldn't even go there for a Red Stripe.
