Trip update: one love bus and conch penis

Had a fun beach walk on Tuesday. Met a cool guy that Was working the beach in the usual fashion but after I let him know I was all set on everything, he stopped pushing and we just walked and chatted.

We come up on a guy that was cleaning a bunch of conch that he just brought in. All were already out of the shells with the meat in one bag and he was then cleaning them and putting the clean (?) meat in a second bag. Next to that bag was a pile of clear spaghetti looking things. I've watched my share of Bizarre foods to know what they were.

So the dude asks the fisherman if we can have some. He says okay and my guy turns to me and says go ahead. I was hesitant, even though I knew it was okay, so I told him to go first. He grabs a pinch full and just downs them. Haha. Okay, im up. I grab a few and toss a couple back. Hard, almost crunchy salty noodles. Yes, I just ate conch penis. Supposedly it makes you "strong" but really, what weird food doesn't.

If you haven't been on the pub crawl in a while, you should check it out again. There's a few new stops that after 8+ I hadent been to until now. And one really special place that I will definitely be going back to. Bus was packed. I mean really packed. There were a few older couples that upon seeing the bus at their pick up decided they couldn't manage it. Kinda of a bummer but I guess that's life.

Which of the "new" stops did you fin so appealing? We went twice the first part of November, and enjoyed a few different stops than we'd been to on our two previous pub crawls as well...

Hahaha, that's awesome, Mikey! When you try some Cow Cod soup, let me know how "Strong" it makes you feel.

Troublemaker, a bar way at the end. Sunset Pub or something. Small round concrete bar and then just open sand/Rock/coral beach with the waves breaking right up against it.

Let's not get crazy and turn it into something sterile. There aren't septuagenarians waiting in line for roller coasters and acting surprised when they can't get on due to a heart condition. It is the way it is, that simple. Not too many of the bars are ADA compliant either. Should that be forced as well? Besides, There are already busses that cater to that crowd. They have AC, pleanty of seating and stop at Times Sq and Ricks.

Yes, it was sad to see them not get on and it was sad that only a few people gave up a seat.

As far as someone else taking it over? No way.

We will be on the bus in 10 days. If it's not packed like sardines I will be disappointed. Party on!!:cool:

My friend Garnett from Likkle London likes cow brains. Could they make you smarter? lol. I had to pass. I might try the conch noodle though. I'm not fan of breadfruit. Are there any other ways of preparing it, to make it taste better ? The one love bus is an adventure. Lenbert is cool, and plays great party music!

..knows the maximum capacity of the bus... & the # of email requests on any given trip - Yes
simple math ... Hmmm - I've got way too many people on here ..to operate this here bus - safely
& as far as a second bus ..is concerned - I'm wondering if Lambert has considered it ...

About the only way I like breadfruit is roasted, then fried. Then it's awesome, otherwise... meh.

Mikey - LOVED Sunset Bar a few weeks ago when we were on the bus. It was a crappy sunset, but a very cool place.

Mikey, glad to hear of someone else who has tried the conch "man bits". The first time I saw a fisherman cleaning conch (little fishing community outside of Negril) I noticed he slurped up something long and thin out of each one. Not being particularly shy, I walked up and asked to try whatever he was eating. Got a scowl and a growl and was told it was not for "ooman". Did that stop me? Nope. Waited a bit, asked again - nothing. Sat down and must have batted my eyelashes and stared at him like a patient puppy while he cleaned two, three, four more conch. Finally he heaved a big sigh and tossed one of the spaghetti strands at me. Not to let him get the better of me, I picked it up, took it down to the water and rinsed it off in the waves. Heavenly! Tasted just like garlic pasta! He watched me the whole time, and when I came back up to him licking my lips and smiling and said "more please" he finally laughed, hauled a warm Guinness out of his carry sack and said "ooman, yuh nuh easy". We shared the Guinness, I bought some of the conch to take home to cook up for dinner. Thank you for bringing back a memory that still makes me smile!

Sunset bar was GREAT! Got to see our best Negril sunset to date, and the wife even saw the "green flash"

Roasted and then fried and sprinkled with a bit of salt is delicious. Also, Breadfruit Rundown is super yummy!!!
