Has anyone stayed at the Blue Cave Castle?

My friend, Jamar just booked 3 nights at the Blue Cave Castle. He got a good deal and He just asked me about the hotel. I don’t really know much about it, besides the fact that it looks really beautiful and unique.

For those that have stayed or visited this hotel.. Can you tell me about your experience? How was the restaurant/bar? Do you have any pictures?

Also do you know if they allow outside visitors on their grounds or is it gated off?

For example: If Markus and I choose to stay at a different hotel.. can we still visit our friend there?

Ted's Hideaway at Blue Cave Castle is fabulous......breakfast, lunch and dinner........
Ted use to be the Chef at Kubaya on the beach..........so he knows his stuff........
the Lobster Thermidor is one of his signature dishes..anything Chicken is awesome too
His Banana Pancakes are out of this world........so is the French Toast....everything good mon

Yes you will be allowed to visit your friend der.......
there is a gate which has someone at it at all times.......
security der is the best in Negril.........

Petrona da manager and Susan the owner/builder of Blue Cave Castle are excellent hosts.......

the snorkeling and swimming off of der is the best in Negril.......don't forget to check out da cave

very cool and special place....
Trip Advisor named it one of the Top Ten Unique Places to Stay in the World!

It is wonderful. Last time I was there i had a great meal but there wasn't a bar, per se. All rooms have a fridge.

there was a poster named Vinny From Philly on the former board who LOVED Blue Cave and did some very nice reports from the place -- with great pics, as the guy took great pride in his pics. GREAT reports .....

We have stayed there many times and will again. It is truly our home in Negril. The staff is wonderful, Petrona is the best, and Susan is a terrific host. After all these years they are like family.
Teddy is a fantastic chef and a good friend. We rented the whole property for a week when we got married there in Dec. 2007. My avatar pic was taken there.
There isn't a bar on site but Teddy can mix a mean drink and there are several bars within a 5 minute walk.
Love love love the Blue Cave Castle!

Yes! It is a great place. I stayed there and celebrated my 30th birthday, we stayed in the Penthouse, it is ........... AMAZING! The whole place is great, you MUST go visit him at the property and get a tour, they are very friendly there and will let you on the property, no problem! If open/availble, you HAVE to see the view from the penthouse!

Stayed at BCC twice, the second time time for 14 days and it's brilliant. Safe, secret and serene.

Thanks so much everyone for your feedback on Blue Cave Castle! I just read all of your posts to Jamar right now and he's completely psyched about this trip!! This is his first time in Jamaica. I know he made the right choice with this hotel and he's going to love it there.

He was looking for a place that's unique, serene, friendly, and peaceful for the last 3 days of the trip. He wanted some time to reflect and relax. I think this fits the bill. He didn't get the penthouse, but one of the superior rooms. It has a private balcony to watch the sunsets.

I'm also really glad that visitors are allowed on the property. We're staying at a different hotel (Catcha falling star) but we're really looking forward to visiting him at the Blue Cave Castle for a swim off the cliffs, some snorkeling, and some good food. (and check out the cave)

Marko - LOBSTER THERMIDOR?! I've always dreamed of having that dish... Have yet to try it. Maybe on this trip :)

Gerryg123- Do you know how to find the old Negril Boards, I lost the link and I can't seem to figure it out. I'd love to read that trip report your describing.

Marley - that sounds like the perfect 30th birthday- penthouse in a castle on the cliffs!

you should read the 2010 trip report recently posted by Mr. X as he described the penthouse experience LOL

we stayed there for the 1st time this year in Superior 11 (penthouse is booked for Feb. 2012) and the balcony at 11 is great as is the room

Orchid – those pictures are beautiful! The castle looks amazing from every angle. I love how there are lush flowers around the property and the views. I just sent all those pictures to Jamar. This will be his first trip to the Caribbean. He’s freaking out over the pictures…I can’t wait till he sees the clarity of the water in real life. :cool:the ocean around the property looks great for snorkeling. I can’t believe there’s a turtle pond!
My favorite picture is the Lobster though. I keep gazing at that picture and drooling!

Homebrewer – like the inside pictures, it’s cool how the furniture has a medieval kind of feel to it.

Rjon – Your daughter is beautiful and the wedding looks like it was wonderful! Thanks for sharing those pics

Marblehead – Yes, I’ll definitely be bringing my camera!

Miss blue – Thanks for heads up on finding the old message board. :) It’s nice seeing it again. I’ve only been a negril.com boardie for a year, but the old format brings back memoriesof planning my first trip. I also miss the old emoticons. There were so many to choose from!

Yes, it was a great birthday indeed.....the penthouse of a castle in Negril!

But you will have the best of both worlds staying at Catcha (my all time favorite place) and visiting/eating/snorkeling at Blue Cave Castle.....Oh I can't wait for your trip now...I am almost as excited about yours as I am about mine...yep...TWO DAYS...OMG I can't describe the feeling of seeing that number since it will have been exactly one year ago that we were there last, so excited!

This time last year wasnt as happy as I was knee deep in replanning my entire wedding after TS Nichole damaged Catcha, ugh. But this year (as long as the weather cooperates) we plan to make it up and celebrate our 1 year anniversary and my 35th birthday at Catcha....so looking forward to it!

Only 1 day and 20 hours to go! :)This time around the weather in Jamaica during your stay will be perfect, warm and beautiful, I know it! I took a look at the webcast today and it looked like heaven! The water was Turquoise and the sky was clear! It's going to be amazing! Have a wonderful romantic Anniversary and Birthday at Catcha!! Can't wait to see the pictures!:D

I'm really looking forward to Catcha too! - I've been emailing Andrea and Mauvette was very nice on the phone! I was so glad they still had availability for our dates. I didn't expect it to book up so fast. We didn't get the gatehouse cottage. (all booked) They had an opening in Gemini I, so we jumped on it! It looks cozy. Have you ever stayed in that room or looked inside? Where are you staying?

Gemini I is nice, never stayed in it but looked in it. We had the entire resort booked last year for our wedding so I got real familiar with all the rooms, but because of the storm we werent able to stay there or have our wedding so we didnt get as much exposure then to the whole property like we thought we were going to. But I have seen it and it is very nice. You really can't go wrong anywhere on that property! You will see
Andrea and Mauvette are the best I really can't say enough good things about the place and the whole staff.

We are staying in Sagi

So glad you guys got to book there! You are going to LOVE it....ooh I can't wait for your review.
If you have any specific questions about the property just let me know and I will do my best to answer, document, photograph, etc for you!

Blue Cave Castle

I was there with my wife May 2011 for ten nights and stayed in three different rooms, all lovely with amazing views of the sea. BCC is truly a castle in paradise. In 1970 I camped on this property when there was NO development on the cliffs (except for Yacht Club) and none on 7 mile beach. I swam in the blue cave at that time, fished, snorkel etc. You will love this place, guaranteed. I was there to complete writing the novel, Island Odyssey.

Marley - oooh! Sagittarius Looks like the most beautiful cottage IMHO! (I would love to spend an anniversary at the Sagi or at the Libra someday.) I'm really excited for you! I joined Negril.com in October/November of last year. This was after your wedding. I watched your countdown days shrink from the hundreds, to double digits and now it's down to 1 DAY!:D I'm completely psyched for you! Have a safe flight and an amazing time!

Hey Booger - Hope you're having a great time at Catcha!! Which room? Are you staying in the Gemini by any chance? If so, Could you take a picture of the inside for me and the view? :cool:
Oh and how much does the lobster Thermidore at Ivans cost? Did you snorkel? If so, How is the snorkeling off the cliffs during this time of year? Did you see any lionfish? :eek:

Francis - thanks for sharing those pictures from your time at BCC! I imagine that this castle and the surrounding caves makes for the perfect inspirational place to write a novel!

Thanks Clarity! Yes, I too watched that countdown almost daily (it started at 355 days) but at least it was a countdown that would have an ending in Jamaica....and that day has come....my turn has come....FINALLY!....its now down to hours! Yay....so excited.
See all of you on the other side....or hope to see some of you there as well!
