My wife and are coming to Negril in a week and hanging until mid March. We found about and came to Negril and sort of never left. We still miss the early days of no cars, limited resorts, and very limited electricity. The food then was extra good but very soon come. We can not wait to see all our friends. :):):):)
dave and elaine, my first year 74 so we are close. still on the one to two week deal so am envious of your long stay. curious where you stay these days as i imagine you also started in red ground . would love to chat one day ed
Heading down next week for 38th year. Funny how most of the old timers started up in Red Ground like you mention Spanky, and yes Dave-Elaine I so much miss the old days.
It is not so much about how many years since you first went to Jamaica but it is more about how many times you have traveled there and what you accomplished while being there.
Only 33 years here but 69 trips which total nearly 5 years of staying there in all the Parishes at over 100 different towns and cities but.... after all ...... Whose counting? :rolleyes:
Seriously, I know lots of people who have done more in less time and they have never seen or heard of Red Ground in fact some have never even visited Negril.
Wish us all many more years of doing what we love the most.
This is just all meant in jest so no offense to anyone.

Well, in the very early 70's Red Ground was the only place you could get a room for a dollar a night.

We are all in the same club. The first time my husband and I came (before we were married) was 74 and we stayed in Red Ground. We also miss the no cars, no phones, no motor boat times. We stayed for 2 weeks and actually drove. it was very peaceful. Pat
stlll stay in redground with the same people as i did in 1978 and my brother before that who sent me. just returned from a nice 3 weeks up that wonderful hill..
We always stayed at Tip Top cottages with Miss Ruby back in the day, she was a wonderful lady and always looked after us.
Year nine coming up for us (though we missed two years in there early on), made three trips last year though.
i remember standing in line to use one of two public phones to let family know i had arrived in Negril safely (always traveled solo).. miss the good ole days..
Bob , golly wish i knew where you stayed. i had to pay $2 per night although that was for two and we had coffee thrown in. old pal cottage just a bit to the right of grandma porters up the road from tip top. ed
