Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
Wow, how time flies.
Yeah, that was a trip just to watch the video.
Those O-rings failed on the fuel tanks.
Can't remember where I was.
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
Cap, I was sitting in my office at Three Center Plaza in Boston listening to it on the radio!
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
I remember very clearly that I was at work, and my boss had his radio on... and we heard the news, and we all stopped working and talked about the devastation of it... and then my boss suggested we all go home early and hug our families. <3
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
My husband was a park ranger at Manchester State Beach in northern CA and we lived in a little trailer next to the office. I remember watching the news of the explosion on tv and then standing at the window, crying, waiting for him to come back into view so I could let him know... It was a pretty sad day.
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
Yes I remember that day very well. Just got home from me from finishing my last ever high school exam and my mom was upset and said you have to come and see this. Very sad day indeed
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
I was in school and the teacher broke the news to the class.
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
I was in my radio station newsroom; monitoring the launch on our little black and white portable. I was News Director at an A.M.-F.M. combo in Niagara Canada. We raced down the hall to the studio and had it on the air in moments; as sad as it was.

Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
I was in 6th grade class. I remember they basically stopped school and we went to gym they had a tv on and everyone watched. it was herd to understand at that age but burned into my mind.
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
I was at the Blue Wall Cafe on the campus of UMass Amherst during my freshman year. I had just ordered a coffee and they were showing the launch live on a TV over the bar.
Re: Thirty years ago tomorrow
Fifth grade watching it on a TV that my teacher had to reserve. It was one of those monsters on the huge rolling cart. He was on the list of teachers waiting/wanting to go up. We were in shock and I remember him crying.
