Just got an email saying we are getting bumped to merrils from fun holiday.....I am so depressed about this......how is merrils?
No idea but I am gonna find out in April when I stay there for the first time. Friends of ours said they liked it and I am only staying there cause that's the place my wife's sisters picked. Not to fussy about where I stay just as long as it's in Negril. If the roof doesn't leak I am happy since I am usually only in my room to sleep. As far as the food and drinks go I am not to picky either, just as long as it's in Negril. In my opinion a vacation is only what you make of it and I have yet to have a bad one in Negril. Sorry to hear you got bumped to another property but on the bright side it's a property in Negril so make the best of it and be happy. Like most of us here you worked hard to take this vacation so don't let staying in a different place take anything away from your time in Negril. Have fun. Cheerssss
I really can't tell from TA because there is II and III and the other one is all in foreign language....we don't do AI and don't see where they honor European plans......we leave in the morning so this was just emailed to me a little bit ago........no time to prepare mentally or emotionally....I'm pissed.....
I stayed at fun holiday as a non-inclusive guest in February, 2015. Although it wasn't a terrible experience, and the staff on the whole were good, based on my experience, I would have welcomed move somewhere else. Fun holiday just lacked the vibe that draws me to to Negril. Sorry I can't recommend Merrills due to my lack of experience there. Chin up ...... Merrill's is likely at least as good and probably better than FH.Quote:

I've never heard anything bad about Merril's, but most people seem to talk about Merril's II.
Is merrils on the beach side like fun holiday, does it have a safe, fridge...I'm worried because of the lack of time to ask these questions.....gotta have these otherwise a deal breaker.

Merrils is on the beach and they do have room safes and fridges but I do think there is an xtra charge for the fridge. They also have a pool and the beach is wonderfull. My friends who stayed there said they really liked it and said the staff was great and they always felt safe. There is only Merrils ii and ii now as Merrils I has changed names and only caters to European tourists. Hope you enjoy your stay

I want on the beach which is why we have been staying at fun holiday. If I wanted to stay across the road, I'd stay at Jah B's like we used to, but with aging comes need for certain amenities......

all of Merrill's Resorts are on the beach, one was sold to an Italian outfit, so you don't want that one ! the other 2 are far more superior than Fun Holiday...we have stayed both. once your at Merrill's take walk to FB and compare for your self but in my opinion your far better off being at Merrill's.

Stayed at II many years ago it was fine, yes on the beach. I didn't know it offered anything other than AI plans, but yeah have to agree in my opinion a step above FH.
Update.....after arriving and accepted the fact of having to stay at merrils.....we are at. Foote prints.....WTF????? I give it one night.....much too far from familiarity....... I might as well be in mo bay... :(
Yeah that's not cool at all. I really dislike the practice of over booking and bumping people. To do it twice to one customer/reservation is bad. I feel like if you're going to do that, then you owe it to your customer to arrange an upgrade in the level of accommodation that was paid for. Not a drastic upgrade, but a nicer property in general.
Wow that is brutal. Putting fun holiday on my list of places to stay away from and if any of my friends ever tell me they are thinking about staying there I will tell them to stay away. Hope you have a wonderfull vacation and don't let this experience ruin it for you and keep you from returning some day.
We had to initially check on at FH ans all thé employées we know are asking us why we are leaving.....wasnt by choice.....they know we treat them well.
Positive note was its pretty close to chances ans had awesome pizza tonight.
We are back in Omaha now.....all in all, it wasn't such a bad experience having to change hotels TWICE.......we stayed a Foote Prints 3 nights and then were sent to Merrils II for 4 nights PLUS we had all-inclusive at Merrils without having to pay for it........and their food was excellent!!!......and free drinks.....SCORE...I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Foote Prints or Merrils.......

i am sure merrills 2 is where you are being sent. i've stayed there a few times. i'd recommend upgrading to the oceanfront rooms if you can. there are only a few but way better than the "standard rooms". we loved merrills until we stayed at couples for our honeymoon now we are spoiled... good location on the beach and hard to complain about the food options. tony next door will sell you good souvenirs!
If it wasn't for the price of Merrils per night, I would make Merrils my first choice but it is kinda out of our price range plus I really don't need all inclusive because we enjoy eating at different places each day.Quote:
