I am bringing my three teens with to Negril in a couple of weeks and want to school them in reggae. I was thinking of getting a compilation type cd from amazon but I thought I would check with all of you to see what you all recommend. They currently all listen Bob Marley and Ziggy.
What do you listen to? What do you recommend?

Both are good! I would suggest watching the movie of Bob Marley. I listen to various reggae and dancehall. Duane Stephenson, Tarrus Riley, Beres Hammond, Romain Vargo, Christopher Martin, I could go on forever. Just depends on the mood your in.
King Yellowman and Richie Spice have recently been in Negril, from what I've heard (have a friend there now).
I like Damian Marley, Taurus Riley, Morgan Heritage, my iheartradio contemporary reggae station, etc. none of which are mind blowing secrets... Anything playing over the airways direct from Jamaica like the radio station that was linked the other day http://www.alphaboysschoolradio.com

Sign up for a service like Spotify and download your favorite songs. Once a member they will send you a recommended song list, which is close to the genres that you built your song list around. I get them weekly, sometimes they are fabulous and sometimes they really suck.

I'd suggest a compilation, such as the 2 CD set entitled "Roots" by Total Reggae, also found on Amazon. Lots of old roots reggae and dancehall stuff on that set!
Love this! Keep them coming. I'm listening to Chronixx right now but I'm not going to tell my kids because they won't want to listen to the same music as me.

You need to figure out what they like.. ska, dancehall, old, new,etc. then explore iTunes and the others that it will lead you to. If you are looking for a compilation CD of newer material, there are two yearly compilation CD's that are pretty good called "Strictly the Best" and Reggae Gold". Think of these as the reggae version of "Now Thats What I Call Music" which typically include the hottest songs from the previous year.
