Best BANG for da buck? Does'nt need to be near da beac. Not a cliff person though.
Maybe private rental house for 2 adults and 2 kids. Just a thought. (near da BEACH, not beac..) Nothing special. We LOVE "local style".

Contact Firefly. Locally owned and they have good deals if you contact them and let them know what you are looking for

budget wise you do best on the Cliffs.....only a 10 minute taxi ride to the beach
Cottages at Banana Shout.....Citronella......Croton Grove(not on wata).....Catcha Falling Star(Expensive) all would be good....

Vince - check out The Golden Sunset on beach road (across road from Alfreds Ocean Palace). You could rent two adjacent double rooms with a shared kitchen at a very reasonable price. Great Jamaican property owned by the Arthurs family from way back in the day when Negril had neither roads or piped water. The owner, Ray Arthurs, is one of the founding members of the Negril Chamber of Commerce, and a very nice man. This is where SLP usually stays, and she has posted pictures in some threads over the last few months.

Yellow Bird 2-bedroom cottage? Each room has 2 double beds and private bathroom. Kitchen, dining and sitting space, patio, picnic table, right on the beach, and a beach bar.

The cabins at Nirvana are a pretty good value.

Re: Best BANG for da buck? Does'nt need to be near da beac. Not a cliff person though
At Firefly when dealing with Opia or Andrea (owners ) directly i have always gotten a good deal and always rent a studio unit, so a/c and a full kitchen. Agree the restaurant is on the pricey side but a lot of other options around.

I have been looking at Ocean wave villa and Chippawa for next family visit. Treehouse was easy with breakfast buffet included and many quick places to eat around

HI Vince. I was going to say Golden Sunset but it sounded as if you were looking for a more modern place. I love GS but remember it is an older property. It's well looked after and the staff are wonderful. Jenny is the manager and I'm sure she can help you.

Check out Chippewa village, great location across the road from the beach.

Re: Best BANG for da buck? Does'nt need to be near da beac. Not a cliff person though
Vince, how old are the kids?
I like the suggestions for Yellow Bird 2-br/baths cottages. Each kid could have their own bed. Nice homey kitchen/dining/living room, your own patio with picnic table, nice large yard - a very green property with low buildings versus a lot of concrete buildings - plus right on the beach and walk to a lot of places (visit the parrots at Kuyaba).
I also stayed at Golden Sunset, liked it but it doesn't have the family living space or your own personal 'yard' like at yellow bird.

I'm 45, oh you said kids!! Our kids are 15 year old boy & 13 year princess. Yellow Bird is the place the 1st time we met Rob & Lisa. Also met Karl Ricketts and The original patty mon. It was a great day!

Pure Garden, Across the Street from Bourbon Beach may work, it you rent the rooms with a kitchen. It is the size of 2 hotel rooms put together, one room being the kitchen/dining area, and the other room a bedroom with 2 queen sized beds, and a nice table on the patio, pool in back- And the price is definitely right at only 75$ a night. Small pool on the back of the property.

We did well with a studio apartment at NBCC this last trip, booked via Airbnb. Less than half what we were quoted to book directly with Jean.
I notice Airbnb has a lot of condo-ish places near but not on the beach in Negril (and some on it also). Worth a look.

Re: Best BANG for da buck? Does'nt need to be near da beac. Not a cliff person though
Chippewa village is a great location across from a great spot on the beach for kids your age. The morass views from there are beautiful and there's also a pool. They have a couple of 3 bedrooms and some two bedrooms as well.

Citronella is under new ownership from what I understand they weren't taking any more reservations after April. This place was second home and most amazing I hope the new owner keeps everything as is.

Confirmed this to be true w/ an email to prior owner, Cathy but she did not offer any information or details in her reply. Waiting for reply from new owners. I googled the new email address and it appears new owners may have a Green Packaging company. Husband and I stayed at Citronella several times the past few years. It is lovely. Very, very private. Last trip was in Jan. We noticed some small repairs that should be made, really just basic upkeep. I hope the new owners keep it somewhat like what it is now and don't make it a reqlly fancy place. Maybe do general upkeep and get some new furniture. Upgrade the cottages a little. It is a very special place to stay in Negril when u reqlly want to get away from it all.

Re: Best BANG for da buck? Does'nt need to be near da beac. Not a cliff person though
I am pretty stunned that they sold the place, I thought he never would ever sell it. I know the owner of the Caves (and you all know who he is) wanted that property at one point years back.

The Owners Villa at Nirvana is the Manhattan, Beverly Hills of real estate in Negril, IMHO. The service is second to none, the security is first rate, and the vibe is perfect. And it's within stumbling distance of Tony's Hut, my favorite bar in Negril. Excited to try out Dru's which sits between Nirvana and Tony's.
