next trip planning
So we are planning on heading back to Negril. For some reason it is our go to place when we need to get away. Missed it last year as we went to wedding in Cancun. This year we are doing 5 nights all inclusive at Charela Inn. Oh, hell, we want good, easy and reasonable. And two nights in the Pine Pillar at Tensing Pen. We will have dinner one night at Tensing Pen but need some suggestions for the second night. We have dined at Xtabie, Rockhouse, Push Cart and Ivans. Since we are on the cliffs we want to dine there. We have done lots of beach places. We don't want to break the bank since we have already done that by this meal. But want good local food with a view. There seems to be a lot of places, just wanted some informed input. We cannot wait for the trip!

Re: next trip planning
Go to Quality SeaBreeze, as Moose suggested, get that meal to go, get a taxi, and go directly to Sir D's love nest, sit at one of there tables, order a cocktail to go with that dinner, and watch
the sunset, a romantic, miilion dollar view for the price of a drink......

Re: next trip planning
Specific to your criteria...in the West End for a view and very good, affordable food...definitely try Swordfish and sit on the upper deck.

Re: next trip planning
We sometimes stay in the area of Tensing Pen and there are plenty of dining options within easy walking distance. Some of our favorites include:
- Shark's: Directly across the from Tensing's front gate, Shark's is one my favorites. Usually a few local neighborhood folks hanging out, but there is always a table available for visitors. Shark and Juliette are sweethearts and cook up some excellent meals. The Pan Fried Snapper is his specialty, as is any chicken dish. Prices are very affordable.
- Ras Rody's: The good Rasta serves up legendary Ital food. located next door to Shark's, stop by for a quick cup of soup or some killer callaloo. Actually, everything is great.
- Ahh-Bee's:The famous burger man, is located on the other side of Shark's. Be sure to check out his live music during the high season.
- Mango Tree Restaurant & Bar: Located on the property of T-Birds on the cliffs, this tiny cook shop can be found across the road from Catcha Falling Star. Great, inexpensive box lunches. There are usually only a couple things on menu each day, but I've had some tasty bonita, fried chicken and brown stew chicken. The onsite bar is a cool place to chill and watch local TV while you wait for your food. Taxi drivers like to stop here for lunch.
- Ali's Little Sandwich/Mushroom Hut - Turn left out of Tensing and walk past Ras Rody's, Ali's is located across from Negril Escape. He can make fresh fruit juices on the spot, but this little stand is so much more. With advance notice, Ali will cook up Ackee & saltfish, jerk chicken and patties, to order. Stop by in the morning or 1 day ahead of time and let him know what you want. I understand he makes a mean mushroom tea, as well.
These are just some of the more local places that are within a few minutes walk of Tensing Pen. Of course, there are also some of bigger venues like Ivan's and Seastar Inn that always solid options.
ETA: Sorry, just re-read your original post and saw your requirement for a place with a good view. Well, non of the places on my list have a sea view, but they all have good reasonably priced food. If you goal is for a good, inexpensive food in walking distance, you can't go wrong with any of these places. For a sea view, just take the food to-go and dine on your veranda at TP. However, watching the runnings on the West End Rd, can be a view in and of itself!

Re: next trip planning
I second 3 dives . Think Thursday's they have live band if I'm not mistaken . Canoe also has steel drum band but the view of sunset much better at 3 dives . But I also like going in water with my drink and relaxing at canoe bar into the sunset with the drums humming:). So really you can't go wrong it's all good . Sea breaze is my go to lunch tho great box lunch meals . And go sit by the lonely tree an look at the water and people watch .

Re: next trip planning
Thanks all! Figuring we will do LTU for our other cliffs dinner and try some of the other suggestions, should we feel the need for lunch. We are figuring we will have had our fill of breakfast, lunch and dinner and drinks at Charela and take it easy for our two nights stay on the cliffs. We visit every trip but wanted the chance to spend some time staying there. The idea of getting something and bringing it back to our balcony has its merits. The balcony at the Pine Pillar looks awesome, indeed. So we shall play it as we feel. We are beach people, coming from NJ. And we love Negril beach. Been to many a beach in our travels but we find Negril to be to our liking. We are big beach walkers. That is pretty much what we do. Find our spot on the beach and walk. Not bar hoppers. Just love the easy walk with something to look at. And no big buildings. We love the trees. We have stayed at Swept Away, twice. Idle Awhile once. And Charela once. Loved the beach there and our beachfront jr suite. We have also gone to Couples Sans Souci and Silver Sands in Duncan in a villa. But we just love the beach in Negril. We love Jamaican food. We are so looking forward to a great trip in the fall. Celebrating a milestone birthday, like I am officially old. But somehow in Negril I am ageless. And that is fine by me. The prices in Jamaica make it more do-able for us. Liked when the airfare was lower too. Almost went with Tulum for this trip but why tempt fate when you know what you like. Hope all on here have a good trip on the ones they have ahead. I love and appreciate the photos and reports. We don't do enough on our trips to report to anyone. Got up and went to the beach.....well that is boring. But we love it. My husband spends a good bit of the year traveling for his work which is for a company in China and Thailand. When he has the chance to get away it has to be a beach with as little obligation as possible. We found Charela and its all inclusive package to be just the ticket. Thanks again for your replies.
