Great. Thanks for posting. Reply sent. no to jet skis.

Re: Jet Ski survey White Sands facebook
This is a interesting survey...it will certainly let everyone in Negril know whether the jet skis are missed or not.
The jet ski ban was lifted some time ago...it's the affordability of insurance and launch access that's a problem for the operators now.

Re: Jet Ski survey White Sands facebook
I did the survey too. I'm not a fan of jetskies in Negril.

Re: Jet Ski survey White Sands facebook
I guess I should have been more clear. You need to private message White Sands Negril FACEBOOK, not me. Sorry about the confusion. https://www.facebook.com/WhiteSandsNegril/?fref=nf

Re: Jet Ski survey White Sands facebook
For those who want to answer without going to Facebook, you can simply answer the survey here. If you want to remain anonymous, just PM me your answers to the survey. I will pass this along to the Chamber since they are conducting the survey. Your name will not be sent to Chamber.
Todd - if you dont mind, please send me those PMs you received so I can make sure they end up in the right hands at the Chamber.
Thanks all.

Re: Jet Ski survey from Chamber of Commerce
Going to fill mine out. We really miss the jet skis. Fun, little machines. Hopefully, when we get back to Negril, we will be able to ride again.

but don't they have jet skis in Alabama?
I mean, I'm not travelling to a jetski lake, river or whatever and bringing along my peaceful, quiet, relaxing 7 mile beach to ruin a race. haha.

actually, yes. there are a number of outfits that offer guided tours around the hudson, harbor and statue of liberty as well as simple joyriding. I've looked into a few but haven't done it yet.

Re: Jet Ski survey White Sands facebook
I was really happy to see the jet skis gone. I have seen too many idiots driving them as if they were on a race course and not a busy beach. Too often they came screaming up onto the beach ignoring those in the water. The noise, smell, waves created etc. made it, to a degree, an unsafe swimming area. Although they were supposed to stay within the boundaries set, more often than not they went wherever they chose.
Bring them back!!! I think not.

Try New York Media Boat Tours..... Highly recommended.
As far as Jet skis I am with the majority and say no. Loud, stinky, and not safe to other travelers.

First visit or repeat guest: repeat
Age group: 35 – 54
Have you ever ridden a jet ski in Negril: No
Does jet ski availability play an important part of your vacation: No. I would never use a jet ski in Negril.
Has the absence of jet skis made your vacation more or less enjoyable: More
Please state reason: I don't think it's good for the sea, and I don't want to hear the noise. I don't think it's safe for swimmers. It's bad enough the boats cruise close to shore and at rates of speed that don't allow them to avoid a swimmer. I had been comfortable swimming beyond the swim area ropes to snorkel and swim for a distance, specifically near the Alfred's raft... This year I was too hesitant and never went beyond the ropes because of the boats- they seemed a lot closer to shore this trip. Jet skis create a culture of fast paced adventure sports, which, in my opinion, don't have a place in Negril. Liability is a huge concern and I would never personally use jet skis, but I feel they create enough of a hazard to most people that they aren't a benefit to the tourism community.
Would you like to see jet skis operating in Negril again: No, never.

Would you like to see jet skis operating in Negril again: No, and it is not only due to loud, stinky, and not safe to other travelers. The vast majority, and I say again the vast majority are also hustlers who ride up to you in the water and try to sell other things. It's really annoying. Even more annoying than my large font used in this reply.

Annoying. Yeah, that's the word I was looking for. Extremely annoying.

Booger I had you pegged as a jet ski rider. Where is your sense of adventure? lol.

Re: Jet Ski survey from Chamber of Commerce
I just know that the jet ski operations provided much needed jobs for many young Jamaican men. I agree there should be rules and regulations, nothing wrong with that. Jobs are not easy to find in Jamaica, especially good paying jobs. Hopefully, they can come to an agreement and get something worked out where all visitors can enjoy their vacation in paradise.

Please state reason: Can swim in safety without worry of being run over as both I and my kids have almost been on more than one occasion. Would consider vacationing somewhere else if this random unpredictable and unmonitored activity returns.

First visit or repeat guest: Repeat, our 8th time
Age group: 55-74 (60's)
Have you ever ridden a jet ski in Negril: No
Does jet ski availability play an important part of your vacation: Yes - we are unlikely to stay in a place with jet skis
Has the absence of jet skis made your vacation more or less enjoyable: More
Please state reason: My wife swims on vacations - for example, twice a day from White Sands beach to Alfred's raft. After several years of visiting Negril every winter, the number of jet skis being operated in a disrespectful, irresponsible and threatening way made us consider other options for our annual beach vacation. We did not return to Jamaica in 2015. With the jet ski ban, we did return to Negril in 2016 and it was a much better experience; once again, I felt it was safe for my wife to simply swim, without anyone zooming by very near her.
Would you like to see jet skis operating in Negril again: No. If jet skis return to Negril as they were in 2013 and 2014 we will probably not return.

I've seen most if not all his posts on jet skis and would not call it trolling. He is enthusiastic about something others detest, that's all. If he was being a troll I doubt his posts would be allowed to remain; Rob and his staff are astute about message board behavior.
