Drinks all inclusive only?
One of our friends loves Jamaica but is obsessed with doing a drinks all inclusive at least so she knows what she will be paying. We don''t like big all inclusives though.
Do any of the smaller beach resorts offer drinks only all-inclusive or could something like that be worked out? Could do food too but I don't think that is as much of a concern.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
We are staying at Legends in about 2 weeks and they have an AI option.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
I've never heard of a drinks only AI...food only, yes, but not drinks.
Smaller more affordable AI options in Negril include Legends as mentioned, Samsara, Fun Holiday, Charela, Merrils...mid range would be Grand Pineapple.
Another option would be to get a room with a fridge and make your own drinks.
It's always a blast to wander around to the different bars on the beach and cliffs...drinks overall are very reasonably priced in Negril.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
I hear ya, I have been there several times and I have never done all inclusive. But we have someone that has it ingrained that it is the best option.

For heavy drinkers, AI might very well be the best option.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
For heavy drinkers (me:D) I keep a bottle of rum cream, a bottle of overproof, a bottle of reg Appleton, and mixers in my room to make road sodas. This way I can stay "hydrated" and also walk the beach.
Different strokes though.

Mikey I like your thinking. We do the same.

Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Here's how you do it. Buy a Coleman (or likewise) cooler for $15, pack a travel bag in the cooler as well as a blender, a knife and a hand juice squeezer. Fill the cooler with the rest of your stuff, clothing, etc... Take a roll of Duct Tape and tape the cooler closed and use it as your checked luggage. Keep the duct tape in you hand luggage if anywhere along the way they want to check it open you can tape it closed. Once in Negril you've got a huge icebox, blender, juicer, a clothes bag for your return trip home and all your stuff. Fresh OJ for breakfast, Cold Red Stripe when you need and a blender for mixed drinks. You give the blender and cooler to someone worthy when you leave and you have accomplished all your goals.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
we also stop at mega mart before we arrive in Negril and pick up rum cream(several bottles) rum, regular and over proof and juices. And beer, dont forget the beer. we still may buy drinks locally but we are set for our day drinking. :)
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Just spoke with Fun Holiday and they do offer a drinks only AI plan. For a one day plan it is US$30. If you stay more than 1 day, there is a discount - so if you stay a week it ls less than $30 a day. Please contact them from our Hotels section, all their contact info is there!
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Good info Rob, not too hard to drink enough to justify that expense.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
I know. I triple checked the cost... (grin)
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Jeez. I might have to start staying at FH.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
30 bucks a day? Ummmm.....is there an upper limit on the amount of alcohol that can be consumed by one patron??? :p:p:p
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Sounds like the place to spend the day after day after day.

Passing out is an upper limit... (grin)
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Leave the friend at home.
Negril is a cheap place to drink and as others have said make your own. I take a Coleman soft sided cooler which parks well next to my lounger. About the time I have to make room is about the time that I need to refill my cooler. I take two sets of those blue freezer packs and supplement with frozen water bottles.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Prices at the Hi Lo...are low for booze. Prices at the now long closed "Beer distributer and haberdashery" on the West End. Were Really good.

We do the same thing - we have the Coleman with the hard insert and it keeps the ice frozen for quite a long time. The insert comes out and fits perfectly in our checked suitcase, then I fold the soft sided cooler into it for the flight. We just tip the bartenders to fill it in the morning. We stop at MegaMart or Hi-Lo for a case of RS, case of water, Appleton, and Vodka on the way to Negril. Throw a few of those Mio or Crystal Light water flavors in our bag to mix our own drinks. Fresh juice that we buy on the beach is great as a mixer.
Here's the cooler we have: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-16-Ca.../dp/B006HFBZEC
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Wonder what they decided. Seems like they had their options, after all.
Re: Drinks all inclusive only?
Wow! $30. A day ! What a bargain for crappy ass tap beer and bottom shelf hard stuff, served in thimble sized glasses.
Plus you have to stay within the resort walls to take advantage of this awesome deal.
May be worthwhile if you stay and drink at the resort all day but who wants to do that!
If it's just in the evening, $30. Will go a long way outside the resort.
Who volunteers to baby sit the AI friend and miss the real Negril.
