Trip Report No. 9-The Negotiation

I was sitting in the front seat this trip.
Lucky, someone had just got out the front and I replaced him.
There were 3 ladies in the back.
I was heading into town and had breakfast on my mind.
It was early and I decided it eat out for a change.

Peanut porridge.
Mmmm, mmm good!
Colletes, a nice little restaurant on the beach road is where I'm headed.

Got there and found a nice table facing the road.
"hey Marko, welcome back!" a nice waitress said' as she brought me coffee.
Hi, thanks,
I've a taste for Peanut Porridge this morning.

Ok, soon come.

It was delish as usual.
Now, time to go play with the kids, school should be starting
for them any day now, so I better go today.

I was gonna catch a route Taxi, then a motorcycle taxi the rest of the way.
Thats about $150J+100J.

As aI waited, a Motorcycle guy that I hired before pulled up.
I told him I had 250J for a ride down the road and to the house.

$400J mon" he said.
Oh, no no no.
That's too much, I will be fine, I'm gonna catch a route Taxi.
Ok, hop on mon.

How much? I asked ?

Come mon, hop on I will take you.

Well, I told you only 250J, I need to hear you say that you agree with that price.
Hop on does not mean you agree.

He just looked at me, trying to figure out how he could squeeze more money from me.
Ok, 250.
So, I jumped on and cruised with him down the road,
over the bridge and into the neighborhood.

I had about $400J in my pocket, When I jumped off
and pulled the money out,
his eyes watched very close to see what I had.

" I thought you might buy me a beer" he said.

Man, he was still trying.

As I walked away I just threw up my hands like
" I can't help you with that".

I pay the going rate. Period.

If something special was done, then I will tip.

You can be generous and help the youth, and the needy and support the local economy,
but if you start paying extra just for the h--- of it, watch out.

Marko, absolutely loving your trip reports :) Colletes - is that the one near Rooms on the beach ? We went to Negril 1st time last November, we ate at Colletes at least 4 times for breakfast, each day something different, love the little quaint restaurant, fantastic food and prices !

Yeah jomack, that's it, cross the road.
It is a nice place.
Sometimes I get an Omelet too.

colletes or colletas not sure which name across from rooms serves up a mean rasta pasta.

Colette's is down the road more,
Morass side, I'm trying to think of what is close.

Maybe across from where 23/7 used to be.

Colettes is across (nearby Rooms) small but delicious, always busy when we were there.
Sweet Spot is just a little distance from Colettes

Coletta's is in Red Ground, My husband heard good things there, the owner is really nice from we heard, but didn't get to make it there.

Across from 23/7 would be Miss Sonia's, and next to that I think (could be wrong) is Cafe Goya?

So close eh! We definitely enjoyed Coletta's ! Miss Sonia's wow - we walked by one night, Miss Sonia (if its her actual name) was talking to some friends out the front, she invited us in for cold red stripe. The place was empty, but she made up Curry Chicken, Rice and Calaloo from scratch while we waited, it was a few cold ones later, and ever so darn good. The portions were huge, we couldn't even eat it all. Love the little places that give the true JA experience;.

Isn't there a little place 2-3 doors down from Sonia's (towards town) that sells fresh roasted coffee? My memory is fuzzy, it's been a bit over a year since I've been back.

Are you referring to Café Goa? I haven't been there, but walked past it.

I do remember seeing a little small place that was selling coffee, we stopped in and the gentleman made instant coffee or something... it was expensive and awful.
The grinds were plenty ! Coffee was strong, like having a expresso ! We were there last November ..been a while
