I have stayed at Toby's and SeaGarden resorts and enjoyed my stays at both places (definitely not 5 star) and both close to hip strip and airport. Toby's is more budget, but would favor SeaGarden because at the time we stayed there, the food was fantastic.
Try the Decameron, now two hotels to chose from and a nice beach.

the Altamont is nice on the Strip near Pork Pit. Breakfast included and they have a pool. El Greco is another fav and they have breakfast included also.
recommendation is to not get your hopes up. Our Hotel (across the street from Toby's) screwed us, we had arrived after dark.. and we got the last room at Toby's last year. could have been worse, but it's not great.Quote:

Things so much less "Irie" in Mobay. Crazy expensive taxi's ($20 one way from Toby's to other end of hip strip).
Guard up at all times in Mobay...
Don't stay at El Greco. Wife and I didnt much care for it.
Take a look at Altamont West and Wexford...both are located near Aqua Sol and a free beach (Cornwall) on the Hip Strip...neither are five stars but have good people working at both.

There's been a few mentioned already that are located near/on the Hip Strip...maybe describe what you're looking for specifically if the above choices aren't working out for you.Quote:

Thanks Bnewb.. My fellow Boardies .. Let me Clarify.. We are staying in Negril on our trip. But I want a Night out in Mo Bay either 1 or 2 Nights. Looking for a decent place for my Wife and I . Most places I have found on the travel sites do not fit the bill. Not looking to Break the Bank.. HAHA.

mo bay is a busy place......i would suggest to spend your last nite there .........>> get there early and find a good place..lots of good spots
We stayed at the Gloucestershire hotel {directly across from Doctor's Cove beach entrance}. Would recommend Gloucestershire. You do need to eat at The Pork Pit {we ate there twice} Sooooo good! Never went to Drs. cove beach. Why pay $5 to go to the beach, and pay for a chair and a umbrella???? We only were there for a couple nights, as we were heading to Negril. There's NO place like Negril. Good luck. Respect. One Love. Irie.
If you must stay in montego bay , stay at the Glouccestershire, right on the strip, ask for a room overlooking the street, where you can open your shutter windows, and observe..... don't miss Pier One for a great seafood dinner, and that's really all I have to say good about Mo Bay.........
