I would stay at home and make more $$ before I went
In the past I would have said go to For Real and have about 10 Red Stripes. Now that they're closed, maybe 9 Red Stripes at Sun Beach will do?

Jasp I do not think you understood the question.You are already in Negril you have 20 dollars to spend on fun.You could have come with 3 billion dollars but this one twenty dollar bill is what you have this moment for fun.Not sat at home moping.

In Negril, what I love to do costs nothing (swimming, snorkeling, watching sunsets, good conversation, listening to reggae) so give my $20 towards the next boardie gathering......:cool:
Cool thread. Illustrates how inexpensive a day in Negril can be. Try this in the US or Canada and you'll spend WAAAAY more.
11 AM: Buy three --ahem--- huge cigarettes for about $8. Smoke one.
11:10 AM: One Red Stripe for about $2ish. ($10 spent)
11:15 AM Beach at Mariner's.
12 NOON: Red Stripe for $2ish ($12 spent)
12:45: Finish the first cigarette
11:30-1 PM: Wait for the patty lady. (This sums up about half of my days in Negril) Appx. $1.50 each, buy two. Eat. $15 spent)
1:10 Start second cigarette
1:30 Red Stripe for $2 ish ($17 spent)
2 pm Snnoze
3:30 Red Stripe, finish cig 2 ($19 spent)
5-7 pm: Red Stripe 4, third cig, watch sunset
POST $20 spent: DINNER.
All for $20ish...once you go...you know. This is one of my "typical" days in Negril, plus or minus 2-3 Stripes.

$20 for one person? Not for a family, right?
My pick would be a scooter for a day, if you can get one for $20. Actually that would work for 2 people as well. Ride around, stop by Jurassic Park or Brighton or ride all the way to Little Bay. You'll need about $2-3 in gas though.
Second choice, glass bottom boat out to reef to snorkel or along the cliffs to sightsee.

Scooter won't work for family.
All those places are near Negril, Jurassic closest (in Orange Hill), Brighton is where the Blue hole Mineral Spring is (also a beach), and Little Bay is a bit further on. Roads are rough but doable if you take it slow. But I'd never put a kid on my scooter. Taking my own life into my hands is one thing...
Oh no I did not mean take the kids on a scooter I was just meaning the idea of the day trip!

(Then go beg a Red Stripe)........some rich looking- big hearted tourist seeing me do that would buy the beer, I would hope...lol
I'd pack a few Red Stripes and some jerk chicken into a coolbox and head straight to Half Moon Bay for a picnic in paradise :)

Brasi....that was too funny. Kinda sounds like what me and girlfriend did when she visited and I took her Washington DC. See a monument...drink a beer. See a monument...drink a beer. Have lunch...have a drink....see sites....drink a beer...catch cab to next monument...drink a beer.

I would exit my resort, take two steps, get my goods, and head back into my resort. Are perma smiles priceless?
I also try and get out to the country on some excursions but I prefer to do some of that randomly so it's not a fixed cost...last time I met a couple guys on the beach late one evening and the next morning they brought me all the way out to Grange Hill and back in a private car, plus bought cigs and beers for the trip, for $40. I also gave them 1000J for gas. Four hours. I saw the crops, checked out some of their yardie friends/homes/etc, ate fresh fruit right off the tree...met some very nice folks...one of the coolest things i've done.
Also went to Green Island on Rt Taxi to visit my friend/ex gf Kamesha, ate curry goat, and back, 2-3 hour trip, right around $20.
Next trip I am going to get further out into the country, as Manda has shown there is lots to be seen.
But just letting sand gravity kick for a few days is utterly relaxing.
mi would go to Manderville & back via route cabs :)

I would get some smoke and then slowly wander along the beach, stopping to jump in the wata and swim. 8)

go hang at da Canoe and go snorkeling der.......and then have Red Stripes, Rum Punch and Snapper
take route taxis till me $20 round out.......probably end up in Kingston......or Boston Bay....lol
take route taxis to Mayfield Falls...give dem my $10 bucks and play in da wata......
and then buy Conch Chowder & a Red Stripe on the way back to Negril.......
go snorkeling with Famous Vincent........
