New Management, The old deals out the window?

I think my hotel is under new management.
(don't want to mention the name)
All my emails have been returned with a New rate per night.

The new rate is way too high for my 10 days.
Funny, it is the Low season after April 15th???
I am thinking that :

The end of April thru early May.
I will just go down to Negril.
Hotel hop with about $500-$600.00 and tell them I need a room for 9 nights.
(the new rate is very close to $800.00) sounds wild to me.

If I am turned down, there is still the hotel with the higher rate.

I am hoping there will be vacancies at hotels who will want that $600.00 cash.
What do yall think?

I think you are right. At that time of year you shouldn't have any problem finding a room.

I think you're right, Marko. You might want to consider starting your search at you're preferred hotel. Show up, ask for the cost of your stay if paying cash and counter their offer if it's the same as their emailed rate. For various reasons, I've been restricted to off season in Negril and always found people were grateful for my business. I've never stayed anywhere where there was more than a handful of guests. Some folks are not as "clean" as others.
Hate to see a place go down hill.

I feel your pain Marko...been through many "management changes" over the years. I've learned to lower my expectations of the maintenance of quality of restaurants and hotels (not just in Negril). It will happen.

I think that place (white sands)is too expensive for me.
I need 9 nights.
If I can get it for $50.00 a night, taxes included,
then Yes, I could stay there.

I am a cheapie

I did this last year, but booked the first night just in case. The first place I stopped at gave me a good offer, even enough to offset the room I booked for the first night as well as more savings. Cash works well IME.
