Just a thought....Would you rent a house or a small independent place

If you was only going to stay 10 or so days. Would you rent a place from airbnb or something like that or a small independent resort on/or near da beach? Just a thought.:cool:

I ONLY rent from small independent B & B's & resorts
Jay's Hideaway (Westend ) & Mom's Place ( Beach ) ..
why would I hand my hard earned $$$ to any else ?

We look for the least expensive option we can find. The room, house, apt. are just places to sleep, eat and chill. What I come for is every place else!

We used Airbnb to book a lovely condo at NBCC, with kitchen and all. Best of both worlds - on the beach but also cheap, with a kitchen.

What's your thoughts on the best independent place to stay? on da beach. Mom's, Fire Fly, Tree House. We USE to stay at Rhodes a lot. But... I won't go there. That place was perfect for us. Away from hustle and out of town. Place was pretty much ours. Snorkeling right at our feet, plus our long tyme fren use to work there and was close to his community. (were we hung out at) Just curious.

Vince, I have stayed at Moms place a couple times in the past, ( you can read my reviews..lol... ) Its actually quite a nice little place, I'm surprised I don't hear about it more on the board.
They have a great bar, restaurant, the seating is quite nice ( romantic even ). The rooms are just basic, but every room has a nice balcony, or terrace, and the price is right, at keast it was a few years ago.
The only drawback that I recall was no ac, maybe that has changed.

It's like the last place on the beach going towards the river.
I found it, sat down and heard
John Klemmer "Touch" playing and decided to make it my must do stop.

Nice small little cabins/rooms.
Also, one of the cleanest bathrooms around.

This place I have been eye balling. Might be able to pull a early summer trip off this year!! (nothing official yet) But hey, its a start of a possible trip. Got get the ducks in a row, to make it happen. We do like to do local style ways. Yea, don't see much hype about Mom's Place either. Saw a few reviews on TA, that's all.

very quiet, nice vibe. I go there at least once a trip to say hi to everyone, and have dinner !

Prices reasonable? I was looking into Dorland's Inn also.

Well, it's been a few years, I think I remember around 60 bucks a night, in low season.... I heard good thing about Donaldsons as well, but have never been.

I checked them out 2 years ago, rooms are nice, way up by NEGRIL PALMS if I remember right.... they wanted 120$ / night then..

Just curious, wonder why there name isn't on the "hotels" list. No big deal, just wondering

Vince, not sure about that, very small place, been around forever, so maybe just do not advertise, if you check out all the reviews om TA, they are all mostly very positive...
probably get a lot of repeat business. I can say I had no complaints the times I stayed there.

Mom's and Donaldson's are old time family properties that tend to keep a lower profile. They don't advertise much or at all and seem to prefer it that way.
