we just got back from another great trip to Negril, after having 2 incidents last year at Sunnyside bar with the crackheads next door, on our second day this year i had to pulled a syringe, needle out of my foot on our second day, i showed Rob the owner and gave it to him, to me he did not care, we will avoid Sunnyside from now on, by the way i went to the doctor today for blood tests, and have more tests again in 3 months
Sounds like a VERY serious issue ...hope that all turns out well for you ....
haven't been for a few years (2)..but, between this issue & the issue by Cosmo's .

I'm sorry this happened to you. There is no excuse for it.
The truth is this is happening everywhere, including one of our local parks up my way here in Canada. A park used heavily by people of all ages, including little kids.
In your case, the owner needs to be vigilant about the condition of his establishment in terms of the safety of his customers.

Sorry to hear about that my friend. I had heard they cleaned that area up. If I were Robert and Maureen I would get full time security over there. I myself feel uncomfortable
at times there, unless I'm with a group of people. As far as the beach incident, I just heard the details, pretty braisen in the middle of the day. If they stepped up security on the beach, they need to step it up more .... call me my friend, can't wait to hear about your trip !
We had some trouble with the guys next door also. This year we'll stay clear.

Actually thought they were nice guys except for one was little strange. This is just disturbing in all ways, reason we have only been to Jamaica is the safety we feel there, drinking water and the love for JA and the people. Hope your tests come back ok, absolutely scary.
Toronto here, there's a huge problem found this week literally on the boulevard grass that is used by the public often, freaky people out there..
This makes me so sad. I feel the same way as others. Even though I absolutely love Maureen, and have known her for many years, at times I feel uncomfortable there. I am not sure what she and Robert can do about the people that hang out there, that sometimes make people feel uneasy, (like Jack Sparrow and the likes) but they really need to find a way to curtail the problem. If long timers sometime feel uncomfortable, you KNOW newbies will and do. So sad. I will not give up on one of my favorite little bars yet, but..........I sure miss For Real Bar.

Sunnyside is next to Rooms.
It's a shame to hear this. I was hoping that the new businesses that opened in that strip would clean-up that area a bit.

This very scary and I hope all turns out well. Gross … believe me Vancouver has a lot of this to offer, but usually it is quite localized to certain areas and you know to keep yourself extra vigilant. It is the stray needle where you least expect it you cannot fathom. It is a good idea for all travellers to keep all inoculations that are available for your destination current for some protection.
As stupid levity, I thought crackheads smoked that poison so watch for broken glass.

Very sorry prayers for A Plus labs . I was at Sunnyside in Dec . The angry midget was upset trying to sell bracket At the bar did not want anything from him dollar was not enough. The woman trying to sell massages . It's not worth the trouble.
I wanted to relax begging non stop .
I had an issue there two years ago and have only been back 1 time since then. Robert and Maureen are great, however they need to deal with the rude boys who hang out on the picnic tables and work their hustle. Shame as the beers are cheap, however I would rather pay another buck and hang out at a place like Tony's Hut where they do not put up with that crap. These days I spend my time from Tony's Hut and the places to the north.

Its scary when you think of how negril has changed. It will take alot to keep me from spending time there but i will say its changed alot and i dont do the things i used to do, like walking home from MiYard at 4 or 5 am and spending time at some of my other late night hangouts in the west end. I always felt safe anywhere i went in Negril and i still do but i will admit i am much more cautious now and dont put myself in alot of situations i once did. Partly because i am older and partly because i have learned to be more cautious because of things i have heard and seen. It seems that its mostly the longtime visitors who stay at the smaller hotels and non ai properties and i know so many people who have gone once or twice and will never go back and if they do they will only stay at a big all inclusive property and never leave the grounds and venture out and see the real Negril. Scares me to think of what will happen in the future when all us long time visitors can no longer go or decide to start going somewhere else. I always speak highly of Negril but i dont reccomend it as much as i once did to people i know who have never been there and if i do i usually tell them if its thier first time they should either come with us or goto an all inclusive resort and try to go on a tour or two when they are there. I really hope things change for the better so Negril can thrive and continue making people fall in love with it like i did

I know your view is understandably influenced by your previous experience and not to diminish your post...but my first thoughts are not that it's Sunnyside areas fault, but a possibility that the needle washed up from the high seas around that time. To think someone would openly be shooting up needles anywhere on the beach be it for illegal drugs or for medical reasons and then throw it in the sand seems very strange, even when the area may seem sketchy.
And yes, it was quite sketchy there for a period of time a couple years back...but thankfully the area has been cleaned up substantially and offers really nice food options along with Sunnyside's bar.

We spoke with both Maureen and Robert today and their story on the incident and the story reported above by the reporter of the incident differ quite appreciably. There are always 2 sides to everything. Let's take the time to investigate instead of jumping to conclusions, especially on the internet.

That's very not cool. Did your doctor give you any gamma globulin or anything? I guess it would depend on how long it was from when you got stuck, to when you saw your doctor. Just curious.
i had blood tests for h.i.v. and hep b and hep c, now i have to wait till June and another blood test, they do a comparison after that, so now i have to just wait, soon comeQuote:
