Just got back home....
Deb and I had a fantastic trip. 4 resorts in 20 days. Just a couple hiccups, but I always seem to have a few issues every trip. {I don't think I've ever had a trip without a incident}. If anybody would be interested in a trip report, let me know. Regards, Rock.

Re: Just got back home....
OK...here we go. Our #17 Negril trip, and report. As you may recall this is a re-scheduled trip from January. Plus, to try to book rooms last minute in early Feb. is hard. Bear with me, as my typing skills are limited. Sunday Feb. 13 head to Minneapolis {4 hour drive} and stay at a park & stay hotel [the one with the Outback steakhouse} get acclimated with a nice meal... coconut shrimp & steak. Monday Feb. 13 fly out at at 9:10 am from MSP. No de-icing of the plane! Freaky nice weather we've been having in Minnesota. We sat next to a young newly-wed couple, on their honeymoon. They are staying at Couples Swept Away. I gave them some advise etc. like "since you're staying at an AI, you might as well try a Flaming Marley". And I gave them Lenbert's phone number. We arrive in Mobay airport on time, and we tried Club Mobay. Good thing as the airport was crazy busy. So, rum punches, cold Red Stripes & snacks! Then out to the taxi's and find Clive's Transportation waiting for us [and Red Stripes}. It was just the four of us in the van. A couple from {guess where?} Canada. were with us. We always enjoy the trip to Negril, and drop the Canadian peeps off at Sun Quest. Our first resort is Merrills 2. {This is a small AI} Check in was good, and just drop the bags off in the room, and head to the bar, and check out the property. It is nice and tucked in between Merrils 2 and Merrils 3 is Yellow Bird, where those tasty Dirty Bananas are! Then we have supper, with salads, fish, beef, mashed potatoes, desserts etc. Very good! Long day, then off to bed.
TUESDAY FEB. 14. Up at 6:00 am! What the heck? Too anxious maybe? As soon as coffee was ready, I had a few cups. Deb finally came down for breakfast. We ate with Ernie. No Skip sightings yet. Breakfast is pretty darn good there. Then Ernie took off, and we went over to Travellers for the Kids Culture day. Lots of school children doing acting, singing, dancing etc. Good time. We bought a brick for $10 for the newly planned library. We got to paint our names on the brick. Spent quite a bit of time there. Then walked the beach checking tings out mon' {starting to get into my JA groove} Then dinner at Merrils. Great meal. Rested for a bit, then started in on the Dirty bananas, & Red Stripes. It is Valentines Day today. Beres Hammond is at Woodstock tonight. We didn't go. Not too familiar with Beres, and it was $50. We splurged and had lobster for supper. WOW! That was good. We went to bed at 9:00 pm, and there was the LOUD music til 2:30 coming from some where. Not complaining.
WED. FEB. 15 : Up early, had a great breakfast again. Fruits, callalou, omelets, porridge, juices, etc. Then for a long beach walk to deliver cartons of smokes for somebody {no name} we bought at duty free in Mpls. airport. Ran into Joe Isaacks at Boat bar, plus Jeff from Kentucky, and some friends at Sun Beach from {guess where} Canada! Still haven't run into Skip. We are going to go swimming in the ocean today, as the water looks very inviting. Start walking back to our resort to have lunch. {Don't want to miss out....this farm-boy from Minnesota} Been talking to a few other guests, and we find out there are very few folks who speak English here. I'm guessing Italy? French? French Canadian? Total "deer in the headlights" look when you say "Hows it goin'?". Lunch was fantastic. Very tasty. Good variety. Find out the chef there is from Italy. So there is quite a few pasta dishes. Delicious. We just hung-out there for awhile, and walked back down to The Boat Bar for the afternoon music. The sound system is vastly improved. Just a lickle loud at times though. Pinky Dread was great on vocals, and Frank as always great on trumpet. Nice crowd. After a while we left, and walked back down the beach. Stopped at Sunnyside to say Hi to Maureen & Robert, plus gulp down a few Red Stripes. They have a new sign in front. Looks good. We kept walking, Drifter's had music, we didn't stop. Waved at Big John Cold beer guy. Took our time, and geez, it's almost time for supper! Need I say??? Yeah I will. It was great. Merrils had a one man band playing Bob Marley songs. We go to our room, as guess what? The music at Drifter's is loud and clear from our balcony. Almost like being there. Then for these "old folks" it's time for bed. 9:00......there, am I doing ok with the trip report? It's 8:35 Minnesota time, and getting sleepy. To be continued.....Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Round two....Thanks for going along for the ride with us. I'll try to use paragraphs. THURSDAY FEB. 16 : Up at 7:30. We had a nice rain overnight. Rain is a good thing. The plants & flowers look great. It's a beautiful day! Great breakfast. We went to Times Square for a likkle bit of shopping. Went right to shop #10 . Had a nice talk with Adrian. Thanks for the calendars! Nice gifts for my single friends back home, and their "man-caves". Bought a little turtle for a friend back home as well. And some hot Magnum. We went back to the beach so Deb can lay out and work on that all important tan. Then some folks on the beach said that Skip & Ernie came by looking for me. That's ok for now, as my liver will thank me. Then Jeff from Kentucky came by, and then Kevin Sterling came by to pick up the new headphones I brought down for him. Kevin said he was going to perform at Drifter's today. Kevin took off, and we had a great dinner. Deb crashed on the beach, I went up to the room to take a nap. We then took the long walk to Drifter's {about 50 steps!} They had a so-so crowd, the band is very tight. Then Luddy invited a young 20 year old guitarist to come on stage, and OMG was he good, and he also played key boards. I believe his nick name was JR. Look for him in the future.
We bought a bucket of beer, and it's hot out and the ice doesn't last long. Need to drink faster...right??? Then, look who shows up? It's Skip & Ernie! Whoop whoop! Kevin Sterling never showed up. Then time to go, and had a nice big supper at Merrils. Man, that Italian chef knows how to cook! Boom....in bed by 8:00
FRIDAY FEB. 17: I'm up for early morning beach walk , with a "walkin' coffee". I'm on the look out for a young Rasta man that I met on the beach last December. Janarder was his name, we had a nice chat, he sang a couple tunes, and no pressure to buy anything! I did by something though. I video taped him singing his songs. {with his permission} Then I transferred to a dvd to give to him this reach. Went back to the resort, had breakfast with Ernie. We had met a fellow guest from Wisconsin Jim, and he had rented a car for their trip, and offered to take me to Bloody Bay {no charge} where I could go see Garnett {our JA family}. He works at Couples Negril. Plus I wanted to drop off a sign I made for Office of Nature. {they really liked it}. Man, that new Royalton hotel is YUUUGE! I made it to the beach in front of Couples {after I walked by the nudie section ?*%@!!} Didn't see Pam Anderson. Garnett came down, and we had a nice talk, he told me about his two week trip to Chicago from a month ago. He said he froze his ears and fingers! He wants to come to our farm sometime, but he said only in the summer! lol. We made plans for Garnett and his family to come to Seastar, when we get there, and on his and daughter Colleen's day off.
I hooked a route taxi ride back to Merrils. Spent most of the day laying out on the beach with Deb. I fluffed her pillow, retrieved dirty bananas from the bar for her etc. "Anything else I can do for you honey?" Then we went over to Merrils 3 for lunch. They have the best grilled hamburgers there! So good actually, that I had to ask the cook where the hamburgers came from. They are from Grace company. You know... the best ketchup!!! Then we met a couple from Minnesota, and he said he was a lead singer from a rock band that played bars etc. in the late 70's and early 80's. I remembered the band.
Gonna go over to Drifter's for a bit. Drifter's was really full. There was a really annoying woman singer {no dis-respect. sorry} we heard her at The Boat bar before. I left a CD of the late great Danny Gatton for Drifter's {and Seastar} guitarist Kenroy Campbell. He's really good! Then we left. We walked down to Roots Bamboo and bought pre-sale tickets for the show their that night. Bushman, Sister Doreen, The Silvertons and trumpet man Frank. On our way back, we spotted Skip & Ernie at Sunnyside. Deb said "OK, you can stay" boys will be boys, you know. lol Also met Captain Bruce. After a while Skip & Ernie wanted to go to Drifter's. We bought a beer from Big John. The boys went into Drifter's , and I went back to the resort for a shower, and get ready for the fantastic supper tonight. Am always looking forward to every meal there! The tickets for the show tonight say 9:00 pm start. Yes, I know how this works, when they say the start time is this, plan on at least an hour and a half later. We did go down to Roots Bamboo early to hang out etc. They had problems withe the sound system, squealing distorted loud etc. Sister Doreen sang a likkle bit, she does pretty good. Then it's 11:30, still not much going on, and we've been in bed by 9:00 every night, so we looked at each other, and said "let's go". Never did see Bushman. I guess he did show up, though.
Seen Nurse Beth. "Thanks for being there Nurse Beth!" In bed at 12:00. Tomorrow's another day in paradise...... til next post friends. thanks for going along on our ride. yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Let me knock out a "quickie" SATURDAY FEB. 18: Up at 8:00, no plans for today so far mon'. Looks like a windy day coming. Had breakfast with Ernie. The fellas are planning on doing a west end pub walk today. I'll pass. Deb and I took a long beach walk to the left, almost as far as we could go. Then walked the other way to Woodstock "by the time I get to Woodstock" groovy man. After walking back from there we just went swimming in the ocean and laid out. Then over to Merrils 3 for those great hamburgers, with cheese lettuce and tomatoes and french fries with Grace ketchup, plus to wash it all down with Red Stripe on tap. It's good! Then there was a steel drum band set up at the bandshell of Risky Business. They were playing Beatles songs and more. No music today at Drifter's. So, we just laid out and swam again. Watched the sunset, and got showered and got ready for supper. Since it was Saturday, and not much else going on, I thought we should go to the Seastar show. Deb didn't want to go , since we were moving to Seastar the next day. She let me go alone, and I called for Henry to pick me up for the 7:00 shuttle. The van was full of folks going also from other resorts. Quite a few had never been to Seastar or Jamaica. Newbies. Since we've done the Saturday night Seastar many times, I told them that they would like it. We get there, and there is a pretty good crowd. Plus Skip and Ernie! Yippee! They walked back to Seastar from the west end pub walk. They said they put on alot of miles, plus hitting quite a few "watering holes" along the way. There's my friend Kevin Sterling gonna start the show, and he says to me "Hey Todd, we don't have a emcee for the night, you wanna do it?"
I guess Chris was out of town, so I said sure. Skip starts heckling...lol. On with the show. Kevin was great, he even got Barbara up on stage to sing, then the Seastar drummers and dancers, and then the new singer Princess Tia! Fun . I figured I'd better take the 10:00 shuttle back. {Make sure Skip & Ernie get home. lol.}
Deb was sleeping, and I was hungry. Walked out to the beach road, bought a quarter chicken white meat from Mr. Brown barrel cooker guy. $5 with bread. Took back to the balcony, and demolished the great jerk chicken. Good night. Tomorrow's another day. Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Next segment folks. You doing alright? Whaagwaan? SUNDAY FEB. 19: Up at 8:00. Last day at Merrills 2. Oh, by the way, we booked this place from Susan from Negrilonestop.com Thanks guys! Seastar to pick us up at 4:00 today to move there. Had breakfast etc. Deb started to pack up. Thanks Honey! Grabbed some "walkin' beers". Walked down to Sun Beach to say hello to the usual suspects, and that couple from Canada we keep running into every year. Kindred spirits man. They are staying at Rayon. Must ask them to show us the place. We all sat in the corner area close to Firefly. Ernie was there. No Skip. He might be taking a nap. lol.
We left, and walked back to Merrills 3, and had another one of those cheeseburgers! {In paradise} The we slipped over to Drifter's. There was a boardie meeting planned. Who's in charge? lol. There was quite a few of negril.com folks. Rob + Lisa, Arleen etc. Fun meeting. Did anybody take notes or minutes? Gettin' close to leave, so we walked back to the resort to get picked up by Henry. He was a little late {half hour}. He had a airport pickup, two nice ladies from Chicago. They had needed "supplies", Henry stopped for them. It's OK mon'. We all get to Seastar. Kadesha & Kirk checked us in. We are in room #8, way back in the property, right next to a certain kids playground. Yay! Gave Kirk a cool T-shirt and a beer. Talked with Shakey, and gave him some new colored pencils & Spiderman book.
We hung-out and had supper...fish fingers & chicken fingers, and hit the hay...time for bed. Yamon'
MONDAY FEB. 20: Up at 8:00. Barbara, Clarol, & Chris the cook are here this morning. Had a good breakfast. Deb had French Toast. {her favorite}.
More getting settled in , and later we went swimming in the nice pool. It gets hot right there about 11:30 or so. Later, we left to go the grocery store at the beginning of the land, on the road, to get some supplies. The Wisechoice market. "It's a WISE CHOICE"! Bought beer, Tastee cheese & crackers, & snacks. The Morris family is coming to visit on Wednesday. Then we did the Seastar Happy 2 hour. 3 to 5. Today's drink of choice..Coco-mania & pineapple juice! Tasty. Alvin... ALVIN!!!!! & Shanice are the bartenders.
Alvin is always happy. Then we walked over to Rick's Cafe for people watching. It was packed. Didn't stay too long, and walked over to LTU Pub for some peace & quiet.
Met LTU's owner, I told him I'd paint him a sign. Watched the awesome sunset from there, and walked back to Seastar. Lenbert & the one love bus came by. Whoop whoop!
I think I heard the choir singing "Sweet Caroline". We had supper at Seastar. I had the jerk pork wrap, and Deb had the pot roast meal. Time for bed. It's 8:00!
Tomorrow's another day, God willin' Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Hey STRIPER...now that's a thought! Let's see, where are we at? TUESDAY FEB. 21: Up @ 7:30. Today we go to Calico Jack's at Half Moon Beach for a Pirate's party! ARRRGH!
Had a nice breakfast with eggs, bacon, and home fries. In America, we call them American fries. Hung out with Shakey, by the pool. Swam etc. Then a Rastaman came by with some Morenga pods & seeds for a guest. I inquired about them, and he gave me some seeds to chew on. They are supposed to be good for you. It was a different taste that's for sure. Not bad, and then when you drink a glass of water after eating them, it really brings out the minty flavor in your mouth. Now, like James Brown said "I feel good!" We took the 11:00 shuttle to the beach. It was really hot and windy at the beach. We hung out at Sun Beach, and walked down to Dru's and Sunnyside for some cold Red Stripes.
Then it was time for the shuttle to Half moon beach for the pirates party. ARRR! On the shuttle we were with a couple people and three 7 year old girls! 2 of them were Calico Jack's daughters and a Jamaican girl dressed in their school uniforms. Oh boy...they were full of life. They sang and joked around. Whew, we made it to half moon beach. We had never been there before. There was a wedding renewal planned for the afternoon. Pirate style. ARRR! We didn't have costumes, and ran into a couple from Canada who were staying in one of the "rustic" cabins there. They had an issue after their first night. Won't mention it, cause you might be squeamish.... The wedding was cool, the three little girls dressed in pirate's costumes sang "Three little birds" and then we ate lobster & salads. It was good. There was a band playing. Wasn't really a big crowd, Orbra was there. She's everywhere! We got a ride back to Seastar, and guess what? We went to bed! Tomorrow the Morris family {our JA family} comes to hang - out with us at Seastar. Hang on folks, more later....Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
WED. FEB. 22 : Hump day! Up at 7:00. Real quiet at this time of the day. Today our JA family comes to Seastar to see us. Our friends from Rosholt, South Dakota also come to Seastar to stay, but not til late. Breakfast time, with cheese omelets and home fries. The porridge is very sweet, but I put brown sugar on it anyway. I went for a walk to Lenbert's place, he has a second bus , with plans to get it ready soon to alleviate the crowded first bus. We just hung out, talked smart, some politics etc. Made reservations for the one love bus for Friday. Our friends Denny & Tami have never done the bus pub crawl/ride. Should be a good time. Left his place, walked back to Seastar, and hung out at the pool with Deb. Had a lite lunch, and got ready for Garnett & family to arrive sometime early afternoon. Kevin Sterling came by and picked up a keyboard for a wedding him and his band were doing that afternoon. Call him if this is something you'd be interested in for a wedding in Negril. I'll get his phone number to you. Garnett & family showed up about 2:00. Garnett, Camesha, Colleen and Carla {5}. We hung out by our room, the girls liked playing at Kiera's playground. {so did I yesterday} lol. We had beers, and Colleen likes Smirnoff Ice. Then we all went swimming at the pool. The girls really liked that. After some snacks, we walked over to Rick's Café, since they had never been there before. Rick's was packed. Watched the cliff jumpers, and tourists spending money like crazy.
Then we left and walked over to LTU pub, a lot quieter. Had more beers, and watched the sunset, and walked back to Seastar for supper. We all ordered 'cept for Garnett {too many Red Stripes} had to go lay down for a while...oops. Might make for a long day at work tomorrow..dude. Kiera had a lot of fun playing with Carla & Colleen. A great meal was had at Seastar.
It's about 9:00 said our goodbyes, got Garnett up and walked with them down the lane to the cliff road, flagged down a route taxi, and they were off to their home in Little London.
A nice time was had, and boom, we went to bed..surprise surprise.....Denny & Tami still had not arrived yet... Thursday coming.. good night, Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Next installment kids!...THURSDAY FEB. 23: Up at 8:00. Denny & Tami got in about 10:00 last night. We had breakfast with them, and laid out by the pool. It's hot hot hot! Started drinking about noon. Then we took a walk on the cliff road to get beer etc. at WISE CHOICE! Be careful walking on the cliff road folks, as I stubbed my big on something, and sliced it open. Bled like a stuck pig. So, just wadded up tissue around it and carried on. Then after the walk we went back for the Seastar Happy 2 hour. 241's man. Then we decide to go to Canoe bar for the steel drum band, and grab a bite to eat. Flagged down a route taxi for the four of us, and off we go to Canoe.
We get there, and OMG there sure is alot of commotion going on there! Police, lots of people, police tape strung up, and yeah there was an issue. But like Sargent Schultz from Hogen's Heroes always said "I know nothing, I know nothing!" We stayed and continued with the cocktails, and ordered food. I had the curried chicken and Deb had the Fried chicken with french toast! Quite a combination. She liked it, as French Toast is her favorite anyway. Its just not for breakfast anymore!
Then...dang it I broke a tooth on a chicken bone. I knew it was kinda bad, a back tooth. It hurt and all, then I for some reason I blacked out! Don't remember what happened. Everybody got excited, the waitress wanted to call an ambulance, Deb said no, as Tami was a nurse. I came to and was sweating profusely. Freaky man. Denny said, when I came to, I looked at him and said "who the hell are you?" Anyway, I was ok, and we got a taxi back to Seastar, and I went to bed, while everybody else had more cocktails.
What a day! Tomorrow One Love bus! Yippie Yahoo! Later, gator. Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Are you still with me? FRIDAY FEB. 24: Up at 8:00. I guess Denny closed up the bar last night. He's an ex-bartender, so it kinda came naturally. We had breakfast with Shakey. Today, we have scheduled the one love bus for 1:50 pickup. We'd be the first ones on he bus, and head all the way down to the AI's in Bloody Bay for party people pick ups. Now, we just laid out by the pool etc. Then Kadesha found us, and said Lenbert called and wouldn't be there until 3:00. Whaaa? So, we did the first thing that came to our minds, started drinking! Guess what? Lenbert never showed up. Oh man, he'll have explaining to do! lol. We walked to the store {again} to buy more beer. We walked over to Negril Escape, and the seas were really rough. It's quite an experience when the seas are really that rough, when the water splashes up way over the cliffs and into the property. And also the "blow-holes" in the cliffs. We went back to Seastar, and Denny & Tami went to LTU. We were going also, but ran into Monty & Melo. They were going home the next day, and wanted to do the Seastar Happy 2 hour and supper at Ivan's. They are fun people who are actually a couple of grown-up kids!
We went to LTU to meet up with our kids {D+T}. Since none of us had ever eaten at Ivan's, we thought what the heck? We had the shrimp scampi pasta meal. Very good, and the place is very cool too. Another day in paradise. Time for bed........Yamon' Tomorrow is Saturday , right?

Re: Just got back home....
Let's git r done! SAT. FEB. 25: Up at 7:45. Had breakfast with Shakey, Tami & Denny. We all sat at the bar. Today we have to move to a different room, to finish our week at Seastar. Then we are going to the beach, should be fun and of course it's HOT HOT HOT! Woodstock has a craft show going on so we'll have to check that out. Man, it's hot out, so we kept hydrated with many ice cold Red Stripes. We met our friend Jeff walking the beach. He was REALLY happy!! We went down to Sun Beach, and hung out til Henry came at 4:00 to pick us up for the trip back to Seastar. It's Saturday night live tonight at Seastar with Kevin, the drummers & dancers & Princess Tia. We have a table reserved, and there's always a cool vybe going on there before the show. Denny & Tami had met a couple from Canada from the late night bar closings {remember, we are always sleeping by 9:00}. They went to a party at the apartments by Seastar, and ended up staying there for quite a while. Turns out Kevin Sterling has throat problems, and wouldn't be making the show. Chris hired the singer from Hedo to fill in and he was pretty good. Chris asked me to introduce the drummers & dancers, as I already had a snoot full {thanks Chris!} Deb said I did just fine, she's my biggest critic. Of course the drummers and dancers are always good, and Princess Tia as well. We had a very good crowd tonight. We went to our different room #14 and went to bed. Made it to 11:00 !!! Tomorrow we leave to go to Tree House. The beach mon' ! Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! FEB. 26 : up at 8:00. Today we move to the beach. Had a really good breakfast, I helped Deb pack the bags etc. Said our goodbyes, and waited for Henry at 11:00. There is another couple coming with, they are from Minneapolis, and are moving to Tree House as well. Get to Tree House, it is early and we knew our room wouldn't be ready.
Said hello to everybody, as we've been here many times. Room is ready, and Basil helped with the bags, and got us a fridge. Got settled in a likkle bit, and went for a beach walk with a "walkin'" beer" ,and refreshed the beers at Dru's and Sunnyside, and Arthur's Beach bar. We head to Drifter's for the afternoon music. They have a pretty good sized crowd. Arleen was there.
Lots of good singers..."YT" and Gary Cooper layin' down the licks on guitar. We left about 5:30, and stopped at Kamara's restaurant to watch the sunset with 2 jerk chicken meals.
Good food. Awesome sunset. Walked back to NTH in the dark. {forgot the flashlight...again!}. Sun Beach was busy with the supper crowd. Cool how they set up tables on the beach and lots of candles & string lights. The Oscars are on TV, watch for a while, and hit the hay. Tired. Another full day in paradise. Yamon'

Re: Just got back home....
Good stuff Rocknrollfarmer!
I meant to ask - in an earlier post, you mentioned taking a shuttle to Half Moon Beach. Tell me more. I usually hire a driver to take us out there, but if there is a regular shuttle, that might be another good option.
-
Re: Just got back home....
Hey Mike_D: That particular trip to Half moon beach was a "free" shuttle. Not sure on any other shuttles, You'll have to contact them. Andrew is the owner.
MONDAY FEB. 27: Start of the "work" week? Up at 7:15. Ran into Rasta David. I had coffee, and he encouraged me to try some of his Irish moss/roots drink. So, I'm open to most everything....what the heck? It was a thick liquid, brown in color and sweetened with honey. It wasn't bad. David said..."It makes you strong mon" "Good for the ladies". "Front end lifter"...Yippie!!!! Breakfast is really good at NTH. The steamed callaloo is the best. Omelets, waffles, fruits, porridge, grits, bacon, beans & franks, brown stewed chicken, pastries etc. Skies are kinda overcast today. Might be a good day for the one love bus. I called Lenbert, and he said he had a "special group" tour going today, but could fit the four of us {Denny + Tami} with them. I told him that we would promise to behave and what not.
So, we lined up the pick-up for 2:55. Denny + Tami came over at 11:30 {they are still at Seastar}. They are drinking. We didn't want to look like woosies, so we joined in. We took a walk down to Cosmos Seafood restaurant. The folks at CSA & Beaches are happy playing with they're kids in the sand. I talked to Cosmos about the pasta party from the reggae marathon last December. He said it was yuuuge! Hopes to have it there this year too. We walked back to NTH, and waited for Lenbert. There was probably only about 28 party people on the bus. They didn't look so "special". Kinda looked like us...graying hair, beer bellies etc. Off we go. Went to a couple places we haven't been before. Shanytown was good. Deb brought along candy for the kids. They really liked that. A fun tour...we're all "special" lol.
Denny + Tami got off at Seastar, and we had Lenbert let us off at Kenny's Italian, since we were hungry. We both had the ragu pasta . Really tasty. After supper, we met Curt and his wife on the nice sidewalk. We get back to NTH, by now it's late. 9:00 or so... No plans for tomorrow. Drifter's has music. We'll see. Goodnight! Yamon'

TUESDAY FEB. 28: Let's keep going..... up at 7:30. Pretty calm morning. Still looking for Janarder. There's a blonde lady doing the SUP at NTH. {name withheld, she's shy} I like sitting in the gazebo by the ocean with a coffee, and write in my journal. Time for breakfast. Man, that steamed callaloo is good. Two heapings every day. Perfect. No plans for today, will meet up with Denny & Tami, and we did. Another day of bar-hopping. Dru's, Sunnyside, Big John cold beer at Drifter's and Arthurs beach bar. Bought some banana bread from the "bread guy", as I told him for a couple days that we would.....delicious! Time to get back and get cleaned up for supper. Gonna go to Charella Inn. They wouldn't let us in, cause I only had a tank-top on.
They said they would lend me a shirt, and I said "naaa". Then we walked back, and decided on Sun Beach. Table for two in the sand by the ocean with candles. Perfect. We had the fish & chips, salad and PUMPKIN soup. Very good. Walked back to NTH on the beach, and there was a bon-fire. We got there at the end. That blonde lady was there. She said she likes John Deere tractors. Plus those "campground" people from Canada were there. Time for bed. The President is on TV...Bigly, yuuuge! Good night. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd sang "Tuesday's gone".....yamon'

So, this "Shantytown" has generated quite a bit of controversy on the Trip Advisor Forums. Is this really the name of the community or is it a name made up by Pub Crawl patrons? I have not been there on the tour, but have seen pictures and to me it looks no different than, say, Red Ground or Sheffield. Seems to me that maybe some participants of the One Love Bus stopped at this bar (which is actually called Bridgette's) and described the area as a "Shantytown" in a TA review. From there, other reviewers and pub crawlers just ran with it. I would be interested to hear how this community is described locally, from Rob or others that stay in Negril long term.
