Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
Hi all
We're staying in Homers but want to spend at least a day on Seven Mile Beach. Any recommendations for a good spot to camp out for the day? I've heard you can get day passes at some of the AI's...can you do the same for the smaller hotels? Is there anywhere you can just rent a lounger for the day? Suggestions welcome!
Thanks

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
Woodstock has loungers you can use, it is centrally located and on a nice piece of beach.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
My personal favourite is definitely Sun Beach.

Cosmo's is our favorite

If I only had one day, I would choose Alfreds. Good food, drink, they play music, and great people watching.

alfreds and arthurs. they're next door to each other and i like to alternate between the two. as jojo p said, great people watching.

I stayed across the street from the beach last year and walked over every morning and planted myself on Kuyaba's loungers, with my cooler in tow.

You can get a beach chair at Alfred's but be sure to either eat or drink there. I am there almost every day - no problem.

First choice is Alfred's for the reasons JoJo listed, Second is Margaritaville where the loungers and umbrellas are free and you pick your spot (just tip the guys who set you up). They also play music and sometimes games. Great people watching spot. Food & drinks are expensive so I would go elsewhere for eats. That will give you the opp to stroll the beach.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
Do a two day Death March ........... find a place mid beach like Sun Beach or CCLP ..... flip a bottle cap ........... heads you go south, tails you go north ............. one drink or beer at every place till you get to the end of the beach ........... next time repeat but go in the other direction ......... good luck

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
Hi Tizzy, Nice to see your post. Going back some years ago the beach crawl was a daily event. At that time you could walk from the river all the way to Rutland Point without any fences or obstacles. But I do agree with Cap, Cosmo's has always been a great spot. Back then just a round thatched roof bar & restaurant, my favorite being the conch soup and a couple cold Red Stripes!!

Yeah, Cosmo's is probably the closest you'll find on the beach to the "old Negril" (though I have never experienced Negril as it used to be). But also agree with Tizzy, you need to explore a bit. I'd start at Cosmo's, then hop a route taxi to M'Ville to enter the beach, turn left and stroll.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
My guess is the OP is looking for a great 'home base'', where they can lay out there chairs, and stuff, and settle in and get comfortable for a nice relaxing day on the beach, once settled, they
can always leave do some strolling around. Another thing, when I went to Alfreds to go swim out to there dock, the bartenders were more than happy to watch my bag with key, money, etc, so I wouldn't just have to leave them laying around, that is as long as you were buying food or drink, plus a little tip !! :)

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
I think you should take everyone's advice and try them all ... add in Charela, though and few other so we can have a true trend and census - and report back to us. Never had a bad day at the beach!

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
There are so many great places to visit. This post reminds me of ( now I am aging myself). Years ago back in early 80s used to carry a backpack filled with things we needed like sunscreen and 2 big insulated mugs. We started somewhere near the beach club and walked down to cosmos actually just before cosmos where there was at that time a public beach. We would take our mugs to cosmos and buy there delicious conch soup for lunch. We also would buy 30 below Ice cold red stripes from the beach vendors. At t h e end of the day we would make our way back to our hotel . Nice long walk on the best stretch of beach you will ever find.

We concur with the Captain. Most chill and the best food in Negril!

I think Cosmo's is too far from the action if you want to wander about and go bar hopping. I'd spend the day somewhere between Treehouse and Charela.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
Alot of people visit the White Sands beach when I'm there.. there's a beach bar that has daily 2-for1's specials and also a restaurant there and usually plenty of beach chairs to be had.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
We used to do the same walk and have the conch soup also sometime in the mid 80's. We would sit out there for hours and rarely see other people.
I had forgotten about the 30 below Red Stripes from the guys carrying the Playmate coolers. Thanks for the memories njsem.

Hi JohnG, thanks....it's been awhile. My firewall at work blocked the site for awhile there. Missed the board and hope you and everyone has been well. :)

TAH, I'm embarrassed to say I have never made it to Cosmo's (at least not that I remember lol) I know I've heard of it a million times but where is it? Can't even remember passing by it or anything....

It's on Long Bay, you just didn't walk far enough. If you walked past Treehouse and kept going it's another 10 minutes.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
It's right next to Beaches.

Re: Best place to spend the day on Seven Mile Beach?
This was an interesting thread and everyone mentioned somewhere I really like. I am a big fan of Woodstock but my favorite place to spend a day is Treehouse My #1 reason personally is I meet interesting people there every time I go.
