1st Time Trip Report

Hey everyone, if you remember I was the one a few weeks back very nervous about heading to Negril alone with my young daughter due to having read a bit too much on the internet. I just wanted to send a short message that we are back as of Monday and had an AMAZING time. I never once felt unsafe. I actually began to enjoy the vendors on the beach. Sadly, the beach sucked us in a lot so we didn't get out as much as I thought, but when (yes when) I go back I'll feel totally fine doing so. Jamaicans are by far the best people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I'm sure there's some bad apples in the bunch as with all folks but we really had an amazing time. We did get to go to Zimbali, snorkel on a glass bottom, and do a sunset cat cruise trip. Highly recommend all 3. Already planning our next trip!

That is so true! Now I understand the obsession. Unfortunately it makes it hard because not a lot of people I know have been so I have no one to share it with lol.

@saeyedoc, so true too! It was like some sort of vortex. I couldn't get the kiddo out of the water! Baby steps lol. We'll add some more things next time :)

Glad you had a great time and not surprised at all on your intentions to repeat. My condolences on your return home though. The Negril withdrawals don't get any better until you book your next trip and can count the days until your back in the sand

beachgal, was your sunset cruise the YaMon Red Stripe, and did you have a great time ?? Just womdering how your daughter did ?

Glad you had a great time. I've been there with my daughters and grandson (I loved opening their eyes to the real Jamaica) and I've been there alone, during the busy winter and the slower spring/fall season and everyone has always been great. Walking the beach day or night has always been a joy down there. Thanx for being another person confirming what alot of us know about Negril!

Yes it was! They let her go for free. I believe my review is the most recent on trip advisor. It's my opinion that your group that you randomly go with makes the trip, and we had a GREAT one. It was so fun! Lots of families and couples so no one really smoking (I am not opposed to that at all, I just keep it away from the kiddo). As I said in my review, you have to be a STRONG swimmer to swim to Rick's and back to the boat. She was fine, I was the one struggling! LOL. Lots of fun.

I am ashamed to admit we didn't walk the beach much! Like I said it was such a vortex and sucked us right in. Honestly I wish we got out more. The people are so interesting, I loved all the ones I met and had conversations with. As all the staff at the hotel said, it just means we have to come back! I would have extended our stay another 4 days had our family not been counting on us to be there for the 4th of July.
