It has been years since I saw my friend Sala, from Talk of the Town. He wanted "something with pork" so the driver took him to Red Dragon.
Sala saw me by the bar and and the years melted into minutes.

Very cool. Nothing better than running into an old friend.
Wow! I would hardly recognize him now. Here is a picture from 15 or so years ago and still one of my favorites.
I think it was taken at Villa La Cage but not too sure.

Peace and Guidance to both Rob and Sala.
Wow... are Salsa & Siena back? It's been quite a while... and I was sorry to learn that Talk of the Town was no longer operating a while ago.
Stoopid auto-complete... I've gotta remember to read before hitting "post" ... off course I know it's Sala. We had hired he and Sienna a few times when they were still on the island, and still hired whoever was operating TotTT in their absence, perhaps three years ago. Even then, Sienna helped with the booking. Hoping all is well!
After hearing much praises, I phoned TOTT Tours a few years ago to take my sis, her family and I down to Treasure Beach. As luck would have it, they had an unfortunate incident with one of their vehicles the night before I called and it was not possible to book them.
I hope all is well with them.
Here is a Throwback Thursday page posted on Negril.com nearly 19 years ago to the day with Solomon!

omg! How kool Rob?! Sala and Sienna if you should see this, myself (Kristine) and my guy Yancy send you many hugs. We miss you bunches!
I would not have recognized him in this new picture. I remember him looking like the picture below that. We used him & Sienna for 3 trips years ago & loved traveling with them. I was really sorry to hear they weren't in business anymore. We have good memories with them.
Oh my gosh, so many memories! It seems like these photos were just taken a year or so ago…we still remember the “where’s” and the events at the time. We both comment often how it still boggles our minds that we’ve just celebrated 20 years together, it doesn’t seem possible but looking at these old photos confirms that time certainly has passed.
Rob, I was hoping Sala and you would cross paths, but shocked as heck that you recognized him so quickly! Age, no more dreadlocks, and lots of foreign food (!) has changed the outward appearance, but inside he is still Solomon. ☺
Bill, some day I hope our paths cross again too, I know we could go days (weeks?) catching up on the years and the winding paths our lives have led us down since the old Jamaicans.com days. (I think of Marshall and Accompong Town often and hope everyone there is well.)
Kristine, wish you could have seen Sala’s eyes light up when he read your post and saw Yancy’s name mentioned…he got a BIG smile!
Chris, Halfwaytree, and SVW….thank you for the kind thoughts and words. I had to leave the island to take care of my Mom and the back-and-forth thing just wasn’t working for me so Solomon and BiBi (our Jamaican dog, now twelve years old and living out her golden years as a pampered Stateside pooch) came to join me in California. I miss those days on the road, and meeting so many awesome people, you have no idea.
Someday, maybe it will be my turn to make a surprise visit back to Negril and see if anyone recognizes ME. ☺
Rob, I’ve had another Throwback page bookmarked for eons. Still love looking through the “old board” … Remember this one? http://www.realnegril.com/beingees/nn090598.htm
It seems like hardly a day goes by when I don't think about you and Sala and wonder what happened to you both. Every time I pass the old yard in Little London I seem to look hoping to see you both hanging around. Boy! Winding paths with all the intersections that our lives have taken has filled me with fond memories. Some that stand out are like..... going to Hillfoot to pick up dancers. Seeing you coming back from swimming in the river hole with the Accompong children all covered in mud. Playing dominoes with Sala and yellow ganja all night at the little shop in the yard. Running wires and extension cords to the beauty shop to get connected to chat on the Internet. Sleeping at the yard in the dancer's room. Well, the list goes on and on. Finally, I remember you flying back with me to Florida on your way home and having to sleep on the couch because my roommate had rented my room.
Through all the great times... the good times and some rocky times, you always seemed to have a good time and that lifted my spirits.
If you come to Jamaica, I am still where you last dropped me off at Marshall's house and there will always be a room for you there. Here is a little video you might enjoy. https://youtu.be/zTAv788P6fc
Peace and Guidance to you and Sala.
Sienna you would remember us as Joe & Ginny. I remember we visited your yard in Little London right after you had a bathroom put in & were so thrilled & I remember bringing you some puppy vitamins for that dog from the states when he was just a little puppy!! My how time flies. Sala took Joe & I on a private tour of Treasure Beach one day that I'll never forget & David drove us to 9 Mile.................on & on the good memories go. I'm just happy to hear you are both doing well as I never heard what happened to you. Congratulations on 20 years together! Joe & I are celebrating 45 years in Nov. Take care.
