Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Hey all,
Currently booked for Negril palms for 11 days.
But wife twisted my rubber arm and we've added 3 days for N even 2 weeks. I'm so weak!
Looking for cliff suggestions for 3 to 5 days.
Have been to BCC and are considering home sweet home, samsara.
West ender looks beautiful just a lil far away.
Budget approx. $70 US/nt
Thoughts and thanks

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
I'll be spending my 11th year at Coral Seas Cliffs for a 5 week stay..love place for its vibe...pool...bar/restaurant view of beautiful Mother Ocean...& every room (21) has that wounderful view.(2nd floors the best)..best of all very affordable for sure.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
I agree with the Coral Seas recommendation. We stayed there a year or so ago when it was Sunset on the Cliffs. We had a great stay, its nothing fancy but has nice clean rooms and one of the best views on the West End. The breakfast was surprisingly good as well! Nice clean budget resort, oh and once you split a beach/cliff stay it will change everything!

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Might want to check out Seastar also, great staff, great place, great food, nice pool with swim up bar!!

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Once you do a split stay you are hooked. My heart is ripping out now as I am looking at my dogs. I am having the guilt thing. Once I get there I will be over it. I’m glad I read this post. Xtabi is also nice. The two gemenies and the Piceos cottage at Catcha are cheap.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Home Sweet Home is worth considering. The regular (Seaview Deluxe) rooms will fit your budget. The property has an intimate vibe with a great staff and good restaurant. Great location (as you know, if you've stayed at BCC) for walking to other restaurants and bars.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Thanks all,
Leaning towards samsara garden side.
Having been to bcc we toured samsara and know it's location and distance for walking to town.
Coral seas and westender look great but too far out. Don't want to cab everywhere.
Catcha is booked up.
Anyway samsara is a lil more $ but will be a good choice. Your in Jamaica so there all good choices just some gooder!
Thanks again all.
Closing in on 3 weeks...!!

Thanks Mike, was considering HSH too, not sure why wife ruled it out. Maybe just familiar with samsara. I like the seaside rooms of HSH though.
Thanks again, Go Eagles!

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
I have always wanted to do HSH But can't get hubs to give up Catcha. he picks the cliffs I pick the beach.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
I hear ya, given a choice we'd pick beach but it's nice to be able to mix it up a bit.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
We have split our time between beach and cliffs the last few years… We really feel it's the way to go as you get the best of both worlds. But due to my recent surgery which was a full knee replacement, we are sticking to the beach this year. Jumping off A cliff just might not be a good idea… Not yet!
We will still visit the Eating establishments on the cliffs because they are wonderful!
We have stayed at Samsara twice. The first time, we actually booked the garden cottages but upgraded once we got there. They don't have air conditioning, or they didn't. But what concerned me was constantly crossing that busy road to get to the pool and ocean.
Samsara has a great location though, and I like the free shuttle over to Legins if you feel like having a beach day. I also love Ciao pizza across the road.
As you said – it's all Jamaica so it's all good!
Have fun – it will be here before you know it!

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Thanks Georgia,
According to our friends who stayed last year they do have a/c and apparently the rooms are bigger garden side.
I'd have preferred seaside for the view but it was considerably more $ and besides we'll have 9 of 14 days on the beach . I think I'll be ok in the garden.....
Walked the road a lot last time, not too concerned and long as I remember to pay attention!!

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Sorry, one more ?.

I didn't think it was.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
lookie out for Sam Sara as they will nickel and dime you...they charge extra for everything
SeaStar Inn......Blue Cave Cave Castle if dem open....Home Sweet Home....Xtabi....all great choices
the snorkeling off of the Castle and Home Sweet Home is the best......better than Sam Sara

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
Got a good price on samsara. All in for 5 nts 435.
Would like a fridge and safe and expect to pay extra. Not a worry.
Outside of that we're pretty self sufficient.
Can't nickel and dime for stuff we don't ask for.
Thanks for all the inputs all....24 days!

We stayed at Samsara in July in the Garden room, we got the biggest one, can't recall the name. Only disapointment with the room was they could not produce a coffee maker as promised. I would recommend Samsara for the vibe and excellent staff. Their weird policies on A/I drinks were a turnoff though. They had some other weird policies as well as they remove the blanket from your bed at night?? Said it was a $300 blanket imported from France and if we stained we had to pay for it?? Other than those issues it was a blast, the food was excellent!

The safe will cost you $3 or $4 a night, I forget which. The drinks even with the A/I will cost you unless you drink just beer or select from their specific menu. That was deal breaker for us on the A/I package.

Also check booking carefully. We booked on Expedia and paid $470 for 4 nights package which Expedia had on their website was good for two people. When we checkin Samsara said it was only booked for on person and made us pay $370 extra for the additional person. We showed them the booking and they still wouldnt budge. Expedia even called them and talked to them and said it was clearly just an error on their end with them having us down for only one person, they even gave them their pricing history which showed the pricing was correct. NO dice. Expedia ended up crediting us back the money we had to pay Samsara. I thought that was really poor business, but thats the breaks.

Glad to hear they have put in A/C garden side as they don’t get the ocean breeze over there.
The rooms definitely are bigger. Shuttles to legends are available to all guests. Specific times of the day though. But hey, if the times don’t work out, taxis are pretty cheap.

Re: Thoughts on cliffs accomodations
What with RonMon experienced at Samsara (heard this before) I'd look on down the the West End road for other accommodating (without the +++++ charges)..as I've posted before where I've gladly paid a very reasonable rate (12 years now for a 4 to 6 week stay) & a FREE shuttle to the beach with absolutely none of this stuff I keep hearing about at said other property...choose wisely people....don't be fooled by the flash..there's wonderful little gem properties down the West End road..I found mine & I'm not going anywhere after 12 years after 24 years coming to Negril (always on the West End)....& for what it's worth I've looked just to see what's out there from time to time on the West End..then there's the old saying...if it's not broke no reason to fix it. I do go to the beach everyday with the FREE shuttle...but love to come back to the calm West End to experience a wonderful sunset from my seaside room or the resorts perfectly perched bar/restaurant above Mother Ocean...
