Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Good morning,
We were there in August and bought a few bottles of Rum Cream to take home, well...they lasted all of two weeks, lol!!! And thinking I could buy some at the liquor when I buy Ovenproof...who knew I couldn't and I cant find it anywhere in the Philadelphia area, we even went to New Jersey Wine Warehouse, no luck. Does anyone know where we can get this, short of coming back to Jamaica? I hope everyone has a great Monday! And GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Thanks TAH, but they wont ship to US. well they will but its about $200 with a broker to do so.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Well crap, now I'm curious. I don't really feel like working this morning, so I'll do some digging.
-
Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Haha, me either!!! Thanks, Jess

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Looks like you'll have to take another trip to JA. You can't get rum cream in the states. Half of what I bring back is for friends from Jamaica. You can take a Jamaican off the island, but you can't get the rum cream out of their veins.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
JohnNYC - you are right!!! Let me start planning now cause I am sooo thirsty!

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
There is a local high-end restaurant and bar that has "Caribbean Rum Cream", I even commented to them I have never seen it served anywhere. They said it sells "o.K." haha. I will stop by and check the brand name.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Looked in Thunder Bay Canada last time I was there but they didn't have it. They do have Wray & Nephew Over Proof Rum which is described in the display as "bold and fruity". I told the salesman that is not the flavor but the description of which of the two personalities you assume when you drink it.
-
Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
"bold and fruity" ? That's a good one Irine. lol If I were trying to describe over proof that does not come to mind. I usually call it "rocket fuel"

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Calgary is nice this time of year. My daughter found it in domestic departures at the airport there. They do have it in Alberta. Just sayin' - it's closer than Jamaica ... but slightly cooler. There is another one that's really good Negrita. From Martinique, and we can get it here.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
I like to think I have decent Google skills, but I got nothin.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Here is a link to the one I have seen here around Florida. I have not personally tried, as RUM CREAM is a bit sweet for my tastes, so I cannot personally attest to the likeness.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
I appreciate everyone's efforts. We've been able to get Over Proof for about a year, hopefully that will mean we will be able to get Rum Cream soon, or at least I can hope...

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
I'm in the NYC suburbs and can't find that or Sangsters rum cream anywhere.

Yup, I've never seen rum cream in the Delaware Valley (or in the US for that matter). However, I do recall seeing a recipe online if you want to try making it yourself.
May I ask where you found overproof in the Philly area? I'm lucky if the State Stores by my house even carry Appleton.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
I guess if the Sangster's won't come to you you'll have to go to the Sangster's
Cap

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Who remembers Tia Maria when it was made in Jamaica across from the Appleton Estate. Boy that was a nice drink. I guess it is still made but no longer in JA. and it does not taste nearly the same. Too bad.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Mike_D, we are outside of Philadelphia and all the liquor stores (state stores) in the Montgomery County Area sell it and the price isn't bad about $19 and I would love the recipe! Thanks.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Sounds like I need to get out to the burbs and hit up a decent "Fine Wine and Good Spirits" Shoppe.
Here is a rum cream recipe I was looking at, but haven't tried it yet:

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
We here in Wisconsin HAVE found a very reasonable facsimile. I don't know if this is marketed or sold anywhere else. It's called "Tippy Cow" rum creme, and it comes in several flavors... Mint, Orange Dreamsickle, and Wisconsin Soft-Serve. That last one is almost a dead ringer! If you can get it, give it a try.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Just tried Mikes recipe.
It's a keeper !
Used Coruba Jamaican dark rum.
It's like candy!
-
Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
Molly's Irish Creme is a good substitute.

Glad to hear it! I'm thinking about whipping up a batch for the holidays.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
If I might say.......we've tried 3 or 4 brands....but I guess we like the brand "Rum Bar" rum creme. They are not all the same. Don't get me wrong, they are all good, just a personal preference. Good thoughts, thinking about rum creme, as I am sitting here looking outside, high winds and 9 degrees, wind chill is probably 10 below. Yippie

With those temps you're gonna need some overproof. Straight up

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
I love rum cream but it has to be Sangster's. Nothing better in coffee on my likkle porch at Xtabi. Also good ice cold in those small bottles. But be very very careful or you'll need 2 people's help to get back to your room. Been there done that. :culpability:

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
hard to find rum cream from W&N as it’s not really distributed outside of the island. but maybe try Rum Chata which is widely distributed. similar concept. not exactly the same.

Re: Wray & Nephew Rum Cream
For folks from Alberta, Canada, the Wray & Newphew Rum Cream is not available according to the private operator website: Liquour Connect but can be ordered in if requested. Here is what is available from Jamaica (4 pages of items): http://www.liquorconnect.com/Search/...aica#k=Jamaica
