Re: big rain in Montego Bay
The flooding happened in the usual downtown flood zones. It looks like rain again today so more of the same.
It might slow down the overall traffic a bit, but it has not flooded the road from the airport to Negril. Maybe give them an extra half-hour or so...
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Thanks Rob the maids at Rayon said that they are working on the drainage ditches in Mo Bay to allow for fast drainage. Agin thanks for the reply have a nice day. lacdeloo
Re: big rain in Montego Bay

Was just outside and saw the stars. That generally signals a clearing of the weather.
The forecast I heard, for what it's worth, calls for 12mm or less than half an inch of rain overnight....
Three to five inches of rain in Negril would cause a national weather rain advisory to be issued. None are currently issued.

Um thanks ,appreciate the update.
Don't know unless you ask.
YouTube videos of mobay don't look great. Hope all are ok!
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Negril isn't MoBay... Only had light rain here today, and on the dog's walk, looks to be clearing.

Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Hearing rumbling of very distant thunder, but still seeing some stars... If we get some boomers and rain, I will post it!

Thank you Rob! I know some folks flying in tomorrow hope all is good.
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Rained a couple hours last night, not hard and no thunder boomers. Just returned from the morning walk with the dog, not much mud. We will have an update from the beach road in a couple hours...

Beach road is fine. No rain so far today.
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Holy Moly have not seen flooding in montego bay like that before. Arriving there Tuesday all should be cleaned up by then. But the merchants will be hurting.
Big hit on the cruise ships when they come in......just saying

Traffic nearing downtown slowed things down a bit. The downtown streets were closed but traffic was still trying to go there. The traffic cops were not amused. At the airport:

Hard to say what it looked like today as all the roads leading Downtown to the "flood zones" we're closed to traffic.
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Utube said it all Rob woosh. When we arrive Tues we will take the high road.
Cheers
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Definitely a sensational video. I saw the original. This sensationalized version repeats the same segments over and over.
But clean up in the effected area are being helped by the road closures as mentioned.
Visitors heading from or to the airport do not go on the roads where the repeated video was shot. All the water in those video clips has long since drained.
Not sure what the point of this sensationalized video is since visitors don't use the roads...

The open "hip strip" low road was the fastest way to and from the airport today.
But the high road is also an option as usual.
YouTube shows what happened during the rain. We went to and from the airport today.
Re: big rain in Montego Bay
Thanks Rob for easing our mind.
Taxi picking us up in 45, soon come!

Visitors do go to the Riu resorts, don't they? That area flooded, that was the point of my posting the video.

Your original post didn't mention the Riu, in fact, it mentioned nothing at all. Posting a sensationalized repeating video not of the place that you now mention cannot help anyone in the slightest.
And friends who came in from Kingston yesterday via the North Coast made no mention at all of seeing anything out of the ordinary on the road at Ironshore where the Riu is located. We asked...
Questions about getting to and from the airport have been answered factually.
