Travellers to Jamaica will soon be able to complete landing form online

Cool.
If you have the form already filled out on the plane before you exit..do you really save any more time as they only take about 30 seconds to look it over and sign off at customs?
You fill out the online forms from home before you leave.
I know you fill out the form ahead of time but won't they have to pull it up on the computer and look at it? Could be faster but could also take more time.............
I also don't see how this is suppose to save time in the immigration hall. My guess is this is more about data collection and data mining. If they want to save time with immigration processing, they could add more kiosks and use the ones they have now. Last month when we arrived with several other planes, they actually stopped letting people use the kiosks as the hall filled up. I guess they want people to keep spending $50 each for the Club Mobay meet and greet.
I always complete my form on the airplane prior to landing, so I just hand it over as needed. (I also use CMB, so the rep looks it over for me to ensure all is in order.) I don't see how this will save time? Are there countries or airlines that don't provide the forms to their customers? I've heard of flights running out of forms before on a rare occasion, but this doesn't seem like much of a time saver for the average traveler - typically those of us with nothing to declare.
Coming from Canada we are always given the form on the plane. Forms seem to change every year.
Yes you are saving time...while you are in the middle of drinking a cocktail or watching a movie etc. you dont have to stop what your doing to fill out the form because it's done already...time saved! 😁
Also, they are following suit with the other Islands (D.R, MX & Aruba) that does this and I think it's a great idea! IMO.
Seems there's no date given yet when it starts...soon come Mon as they say
My guess.... and this is a total guess...
Maybe if the form is completed on online (and submitted online) and the additional items the immigration rep/qiosk request (photo, hotel name etc) are also given online, you will be able to totally bypass immigration (i.e. the govt of JA will have already vetted your arrival and electronically stamped for passport for a 3 month stay). Then you could head right to baggage claim and customs.
I think this is what some other countries have tried to do... reduce the number of people who have to be physically processed by immigration by doing it online ahead of time.
Will be waiting for boardies to report back next month on how this goes...
Cool Runnings, Marko
Anyone have a link to this on-line immigration cards system?
No sure about an on-line immigration system. Wife and I signed up for the US Global Entry System a few years ago. That allows us to move through the inbound immigration lines a wee bit faster, when I don't mess with the facial recognition camera, and I don't have a pile of stuff to declare. The USGE system is supposed to be for travelers returning to the States but we have been herded into the express or first class lines when flying domestically because of our registration - and we get to keep our shoes on. Odd.

We signed up for Global Entry a couple years ago - it’s great when you come back to US. We would have missed two different tight connections from US Customs if we didn’t have that. We are also big fans of Club Mobay.
Another good thing about Global Entry is that it also gets you into the Pre-Check security lines for domestic travel.
the only time this saves is when you are trying to watch a movie and have a drink....Immigration still needs to review all of the info as usual.....and remember.....stay behind the yellow line :)
I have been checking the airport website and immigration, no sign of the new program yet.
We will be there in 25 days. :)
