Jamaica not so bad right now
Good morning from Xtabi.
We arrived in MoBay Wed evening and stayed at El Greco. Nice hotel, clean with spacious rooms. We felt very safe as there were numerous police and military people staying there as well. To be honest aside from the extra police and military presence MoBay seemed unchanged from my tourist eyes.
We arrived in Negril about 1pm, the start of our vacation is here at Xtabi. It is our first time staying here, our first time staying up on the cliffs so we shall compare to our many stays down at the beach.
The employees are very friendly, the pool is clean and the room is very spacious. We are in unit 24 - on the pool deck, it feels like a cottage.
It’s now Friday morning, I’m sitting at the restaurant having a coffee and enjoying the beautiful blue sky and surroundings.Attachment 50577Attachment 50576
Dinner tonight will be lobster from 3 dives

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
We watched the beautiful sunset last night from 3 Dives cliffs. We met an interesting character who’s name was Jack (his last name I forget but have it written back in the room). A musician Jack is, he has some very interesting stories. While at 3 Dives this evening I hope we see him again. I’ll get his last name for you if interested, he said he has some YouTube videos of his music productions.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
You should stop and meet Keitho. He has a little stand called Natural Vibes across the road near 3 Dives and the Rockhouse. He is a very good man and fun to chill and have a beer with and a really fun place to watch the sunset.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
Will do this afternoon, and report back from Keitho’s.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
The caves are damp and rather eerie but do provide a cool experience.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
Nice, didn't realize they had a pool! That has kept me from giving them a tree. I love the location.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
Great photos! I'm going to stay at Xtabi one of these years.

We love room 24 and will be back to it in 30 days.
Question for you. Is the coffee pot we brought down a couple years ago still in working order?
Thanks mon :)

Not sure if this is what you are referring to but I took a pic of a kettle that is here. Will post. On that note if you do come bring your own dish towels. As well when you book ask for bath towels.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
Had an excellent lobster and jerk chicken mix tonight from 3 dives. Paula looked after us well. Met some wonderful people again, kinda the norm really. Only one disappointment so far. I could not find any red stripe light in any grocery. Apparently they have no stock anywhere except from what the bars have. I was puzzled by this however I know a guy who knows a guy and it cost me a bit extra but did manage to procure a case. All good.

Notice the sun filling my red strip with light :-)

Thanks for the pic.
No, that's not the one we brought down. We brought a 4 cup drip coffee maker. It probably died :)

Another beauty day here at Xtabi. This morning I’m enjoying the infamous dirty banana. The sea is calmer today, it will be a good day for snorkeling.

Re: Jamaica not so bad right now
Had a couple cloud bursts this afternoon but in between I went walking. The road is not as busy today however one still must be cautious. Not many tourists stop in this area on their travels to Ricks Cafe etc. I enjoy meeting the local shop\bar owners, most are very colourful.

Yes that it was, It proved to be a good time for an afternoon siesta. This is our last day up on the cliffs, we move down to the beach for the remainder of our trip. I look forward to being back on the sand. The cliffs are a nice change but our favourite spots are on the beach.

I believe the pool is across the road on the "garden" side of the hotel.
