Tell me your choice.

I posted this on a FB group today and got some great responses. I'll post the question here and see what the responses are. Please tell me which resort you like and WHY.

My wife and I have been to Jamaica several times and have finally stopped staying at the all inclusive resorts. So far we have stayed at Idle Awhile and Charela Inn and loved them both. We love trying new resorts and this fall we are looking at four options:. Cocolapalm, White Sands, Country Country, and Treehouse. Please let us know which of these four resorts you like the best and why. Thanks in advance!

Oohhh, tough one...I'm also curious to hear if there's someone that's stayed at all four properties in recent years.
I've actually stayed at two of the properties...but that feels like a hundred years ago and it was only two of the properties. :concern:

CCLP .............. dead center of the beach - easy walk either way to end of the beach, consistently has lots of beach depth when other places have it come and go, perfectly tapered sand into the ocean and beyond into deeper water, lots of beach frontage so you can find a area all to yourselves, plenty of quality beach chairs for everyone, beautiful well kept grounds, two pools if you are not a salt water ocean person, nice beach front grill with bar, quality restaurant for more formal meals, another bar for afternoons and evening cocktails, great modern rooms where everything works, quality and friendly management, servers, bartenders, maintenance works, cleaning persons, etc..... CCLP has been our go to place on the beach for 20+ years. We have looked at them all and for the price, IMHO nothing beats CCLP

We love TreeHouse, but if there is one negative its the location. We constantly seem to be trekking towards center or opposite end of the beach. Couples and Margaritaville seem to dominate that end, so the abundance of hagglers to tourists is on the high end as well. I think TreeHouse has one of the best beach set ups of any resort on the beach though, so if you just kind of plant yourself it is hard to beat.

We have stayed at Coco LaPalm 3 times and had great experiences all 3 times. As Captain Oil said it is dead center of everything, has two bars, great happy hour, comfortable lounge chairs, 2 pools and a free continental breakfast. We have also stayed at Country Country twice, this year will be our third time and really like it there too. The beach area isn't as crowded as Coco gets and you get a free full breakfast. There is only 1 pool, not real big but never had a problem with it being crowded and there is a bar, however they don't offer an happy hour specials so we do wander on down to Coco for a drink or two around happy hour time. Our decision this year was based mainly on price....Coco is getting very pricey and we got a good deal through hotels.com for Country Country, it was $55. cheaper than the CC website. We've looked at the rooms at Treehouse and they all seem very nice, they have umbrellas for their patrons (as does CC, Coco does not) and they offer a free buffet breakfast and sometimes you can get great deals on Groupon with them. I've had friends stay at White Sands and I think that would be at the very bottom of my list but with the other 3 I don't think you can go wrong.

CCLP has the best location and beach IMO. But kmolineux is right, they are getting a bit pricey. I tried to get into Tree House for our next stay but the rooms I wanted were booked. So I went ahead and booked CCLP. :)

I always stay at CCLP. Always consistently good and no surprises.

My 2 cents...

I've stayed at (3) mentioned and CCLP is my favorite. And, I agree with the others on CCLP I think its a great hotel and perfect location especially for the person that's coming from AI resort experiences, it's kinda on the same scale but of course smaller property and if you don't want to leave the property you don't have to because everything is there!

TreeHouse was just OK for me and that's only because of their location is too far down the beach...Although they do have that AI resort feel with most things on property, so if a person didn't want to leave the property for whateva reason they would have all they need right there.

White Sands, was just OK for me it is in a great location my apartment style room was awesome! but it lacked something and I'm not sure what...it just didn't give me that "I will definitely be back" feel... so I probably wont stay there again unless there's no other options.

If I may add Rondel Village is another nice hotel similar to CCLP but smaller and the only downside for me is they don't have umbrellas outside the hotel walls so if you are lounging on the beach you will literally cook lounging under that sun with no kinda shade, although some folks like that:)...they do have a few inside the wall but who wants to lounge inside that's my only hang up with them.

Cocolapalm is great. I would add Charela and Idle awhile

I've always wanted to try CCLP. It was on my short list for April. Sorry, I haven't actually tried any of them!

One of the things that actually prevented me from choosing it was that they used to have a great interactive map on their website, I am a total nerd about where my room is located... anyway, I couldn't access that map and couldn't make an informed room choice. :( Maybe for another trip.

As I mentioned in my original post, those are the two resorts we have already tried

I've stayed at both Treehouse and CC. I liked Treehouse better and for a few reasons: 1) Buffet breakfast - varied and all good. I got a little bored with CC breakfast off the menu. 2) a little more activity at Treehouse - jerk chicken hut, water sports, guest reception on Sat nights. 3) My bed at CC was rock hard. 4) beach lounge chairs at Treehouse in better shape than CC.

I think I know what's lacking at White Sands. We stay there as the price is hard to beat and the rooms are quite nice. But here's the deal, the rooms are renovated to western standards. When you're in the room and the doors are closed you could be in any hotel room anywhere. In all the other mentioned resorts you still know you are in Jamaica when your in the room because Jamaica is designed into the room, lots of local character. We find if we open the doors to the balcony, and every room has one, you let Jamaica back in and it's all good. That just our opinion anyway.

We are normally cliff dwellers, but we have an opportunity to take a short trip at the end of May this year. We are looking at CCLP, want to try something new. My question is, are the beach resorts and Coco in particular as "cool" as the cliff resorts. We like to indulge in Jamaicas finest and have no issues on the cliffs. Will we be disappointed staying on the beach.

Firefly Every Time

The beach is fine, however there's more family's on the beach, so you may need to be a bit discreet at times. If there are children nearby, I usually just take a walk or hang out at one of the little bars to burn one or a few. Sitting on our balcony is another favorite spot.

If the balcony at coco is cool to burn one, then I have no issues.

We were in Negril in 2016 and going back this year. The day we were there we stopped at the treehouse and met people and they let us hang out there all day and we just got one bucket of Big Red. We had our own cooler. Place was nice people were so friendly, But we did not get hassled by vendors,,But looking forward to SATP this year,,

Your balcony will be perfect, but I'm not saying you can't smoke on the beach. I did most of my smoking there. I'm just pointing out there's more family on the beach than the cliffs, and you may at times need to be respectful of them. It will not be an issue. Enjoy what Negril has to offer, literally!

I like Cocolapalm - stayed there five times. Very similar with similar guests. The beach at Coco is not as shaded as Charela but they are both nice. If you liked Charela you will like Cocolapalm.

Thanks for all the replies. My wife decided she is not running the half marathon in Savannah in November, so I think we had settled on when........now just have to decide which resort. They all sound wonderful and I like people's passion for their favorite resort. Such decisions!

We are Idle snobs. Our favorite place on the beach. We dine most nights at Charela but have not stayed there in many years. Their beach is absolutelty the most beautiful spot. We have been to Negril 40 plus times over 35 plus years and have gotten very picky. Recently looked at a room at Country Counrty had thought it was quaint. Just not interested in messing with perfection

Hi ! Since I have met you folks, I think you would love CoCo. It has a nice Jacuzzi hot tub, perfect for late evening, a couple of nice pool, and just enough of a nice social scene, with
the outdoor bar and grill, and then a really nice bar for happy hour. I myself love White Sands, but it's perfect for me, as I am usually a solo traveler, but I think you guys would love the
rooms, and the whole beach situation at CoCo.

I think we have decided on cocolapalm for our fall trip. Now we just need to find a good price!

We recently stayed at both Coco LaPalm and the Treehouse (also Catch A Falling Star on the cliffs) all in the same vacation. I have stayed at Treehouse many times before and this was my first time at Coco LaPalm. We booked in mid-September and many places were all booked up so we ended up having to stay at each place for six nights and moving. Both Treehouse and Coco are more upscale (and probably more expensive) than White Sands or Country Country. Coco is a much larger property than Treehouse, if we weren't staying by the waterfall thing at Coco I would have had a hard time finding my room! Both Treehouse and Coco LaPalm are pretty comparable in terms of their rooms, but the Treehouse had an amazing huge buffet style breakfast that is free and included in the price of your room. Coco has a nice free (continental) breakfast - it is nice but mainly croissants, toast, bananna bread, coffee and juice. If you order from Coco's regular breakfast menu, you get $5 off from the price. The manager's party at the Treehouse is much nicer than the one at Coco's - Coco's has two swimming pools (one quite large for children) and then a smaller one for adults. I would agree that I like Coco's location a little bit more because we could walk down the beach a little easier for the bars featuring live music. I feel more comfortable at the Treehouse personally, probably because I have stayed there so many times and when I am staying on the cliffs, I go to the Treehouse if I want to be on the beach. I would say the lunches and dinners at both places are comparable - great food at both places and comparable prices. I also just found an amazingly good deal including air fare and nine days at Coco -- a REALLY good deal. I can't remember the name of the site though I did a google search on "package deals to Negril" -- of course the first six or seven pages were for very expensive A/I places, but way later down the line was Coco as well as Samsara. Both had quite a great air/accomodations deal and obviously reduced airfare. I didn't book it [for April] (we just left Jamaica last month). Have fun !!
