In case you were wondering....
After re-reading Banana Shout by Mark Conklin a while ago, I felt that the old stories about Negril needed their own Board in our Forum section. I have been moving threads and post in this vein to this new Board.
Please be sure to check out the "Negril Flashback - Negril throughout the years" Board and feel free to share your memories and photos with others.
It is great for newer visitors to have a feel for how Negril developed over the years!
Enjoy!

Re: In case you were wondering....
Can't wait to read this! Thanks for the link Rob, I previously looked this up on Amazon and gave up - a bit more expensive on there... (these are US prices, not J)
1 Used from $393.13, 2 New from $734.55
Re: In case you were wondering....
Mark would be getting a good laugh about those prices... I wonder what my signed copy would get? :biggrin-new:
Re: In case you were wondering....
Wow! Looks like It's become a collector's item. I picked up my copy a couple years ago at suggested retail price.
Re: In case you were wondering....
Walk Good Travels to Negril Jamaica by Roland Reimer is a good book too.
Re: In case you were wondering....
Rollie has a second book, "Sunset Negril" which is another good one of his! While much more fiction based than Walk Good, neither of his books really delve into old time Negril.
Re: In case you were wondering....
Question: How far back is considered "Old Stories".
Re: In case you were wondering....
Excellent question! Anything going back decades is obvious, but essentially could include stories going back even five years or so. There is really no exact date, but the main Negril Message Board should help to answer questions or relate stories that would be of current benefit to our visitors. Discussing things like our live webcasts that no longer exist is really not of much benefit, even though they ended just two years ago
It is a kind of use your own judgement thing...
Re: In case you were wondering....
For me it's Michael Manley and earlier (before 1980)

What about his third term cap? 89-92
Re: In case you were wondering....
I left Jamaica in 1986 so I do enjoy the stories from the late 80s and 90s

Re: In case you were wondering....
I think I left my copies of Banana Shout, Walk Good, and Rasta Heart on the book exchange shelf at places we've stayed in Negril. Of those, I'd like to reread Rasta Heart the most as the "my body is not a cemetery for dead animals" idea never left.
Re: In case you were wondering....
I bought it on Amazon for $11. I am shipping mine out to another boardie. it is a great read. I held on to it all last yr and started it on the plane on the way down in Nov.
