We will be in Negril for 2 weeks starting next weekend 20th nov.We have planned to be wearing shorts, sandals and t-shirts during the day,but at night time we are in the mode of what to pack,will it be warm enough for our day wear type clothes,or should we pack a cardigan/sweater,will we get away with long sleeve shirts or is it wise to pack a light jacket.
I always take a light jacket, one jeans, one long shirt or sweater. and I have always use them at least once or twice when I am there.
On the way down, leaving from NY State in Jan., I wear a sweatshirt and a packable nylon rain jacket. I find that these meet any needs I have for something warm in Negril. We expect one or two cool rainy evenings.

i take a long sleeved t shirt and track bottoms to wear at night, also pack one of those fold up into little bag rain coats ideal for if you get caught in rain shower
We are leaving next Saturday also for 2 weeks back in Negril.
Since we catch the 6:30am flight from Philadelphia we wear warmer clothes that way we have them to wear back when we have to come back to reality and the cold Maryland temps. We have been there in November and January and have never needed any sort of jacket or pants.
Take half the clothes and twice the money. I don't remember where I heard this first. I never can afford to take twice the money, but I have brought home lots clothes that I didn't wear.

Just returned from Negril. Dont worry about warm clothing.
Shorts and t shirts were all we wore for 7 days/nights. Even
my wife who gets cold in a slight breeze, never strayed from shorts.
Rustedduck...caught ya on the One Love Bus Pub Crawl webcast last week. :) Hubby and I will be on it the 30th. I actually find the slight coolness at night wonderful for sleeping. This is my favorite time of year to visit.
there was a few cold nites when I was there last January, was very surprising how cold it felt after the sunny warm days.....like others, just in case, I pack a pair of jeans or trackpants and a long sleeved shirt or light jacket.

My husband just told me - "We are NOT taking so many clothes this year"! Ha - I will share Col Andy's with him - maybe he can work some overtime:) We wear jeans for the plane and have used them a few times at night - not often though!

I have always found that during the winter months, I always want to have a pair of jeans and a few long sleeve tees. Quite frankly, the Christmas winds can bring a bit of a chill. I tend to chill rather quickly, so I'd rather be safe and warm. Every December and early Jan. I always have used them. Generally, one sweatshirt is great to have along...just in case. Enjoy!

Make sure you take some bug spray with Deet. We just returned last week and the pests were peskier than usual, at night, especially on the legs and ankle and not just on the beach. So, if you wear nothing at all, bring lots of DEET.
but be careful with the full strength deet. spray it under you clothes and the resultant inflammation can be worse than the bug bites. I use the 8 - 10% deet varieties with great success. The 90+% deet stuff is too strong for my skin to handle if applied liberally
That why i take long sleeved t shirts and track suit bottoms to wear and night, by spraying the deet onto the clothes not skin it lasts longerQuote:

We arrived on Dec 27 last year and those Christmas winds were quite chilly. We landed wearing shorts but were quickly changing into long pants and jackets. The winds that 1st night were constant and full of dampness - that's what made me so cold. It wasn't this way every night (just the odd one) I suggest 1 pair of pants and 1 light jacket - I wear that coming in now and change on the plane or at the airport.

it's been really hot this week i've been wearing tank tops all day/night. i would bring a long sleeved shirt and a pair of light weight long pants with you but you wont really need them
Haven't brought pants or a jacket for more than 10 years, it doesn't get cold enough.
I have left Minneapolis in shorts and a t-shirt when it was -30. I don't even want to bring shoes but always do.
I have been there at this time of the year 6 or 7 times and never needed long pants or long sleeved shirts. But since I was leaving from cold NYC did have to wear a coat to the airport. One year it was really cold and I had to wear lined leather gloves and a hat to the airport and one of my JA friends ( a guy) put on both the hat and the gloves and vamped in front of the mirror doing different fashion poses and "look tough in ladies winter accessories moves". I think he had never seen gloves like that in person.
