Securing belongings when out and about ?
Just wondering how you secure your belongings/money etc when you decide to do something spur of the moment ( e.g. jump in for a swim or para sail etc ...)
Also any practical tips on safely keeping your cash secure when out and about would be helpful
thanks !
Re: Securing belongings when out and about ?
I actually use a water proof cell phone cover and I have cargo pockets (closed by velcro) in all my swim trunks so that I can carry my day's supply of funds on the beach.
At night, again, my shorts have cargo pockets to keep at least half my cash for the night secure, never carry a wallet and have all money/credit cards in front pockets...

I make sure I have a Velcro or zip up pocket, but have never used a water proof case. I haven't found anyone yet that has turned down my wet money.:)

I do the same - keep some cash in a waterproof pack. I have a pacsafe that I keep everything locked up in our room - passport, tablet, phone, cash, credit cards.

thanks for the tips everyone ..
Re: Securing belongings when out and about ?
I do the same with cash, but as for other semi valuables, ie Bluetooth speaker etc, I always treat the security where I’m staying well, and they always do a phenomenal job. In 30years of travel to JA, I’ve never had anything stolen Then again I’m from NYC, and I’m always on my game about keeping my things safe.

Going for a dip etc. Leave it on your beach chair!
99.9% of the time it’ll still be there.
Worry less, enjoy more!

I don't worry about security

Re: Securing belongings when out and about ?
If you're doing a walkabout & visiting different bars etc...almost all locations are happy to store your bags/purses etc behind the bar for you.
You never know when you'll feel the need to jump in the sea!! :congratulatory:
Re: Securing belongings when out and about ?
I use a waterproof cigarette case (I don't smoke) on a lanyard for my cash and room key. My camera is waterproof.

Typically dont take ANYTHING with me except some cash when I leave the hotel property. My wallet stays at home in the USA. At the hotel properties I have left my phone and page-turner on a beach chair for hours unattended without any problems.
Re: Securing belongings when out and about ?
I use a Lok-Tote back pack. They're great. When my daughter's arrived, we attacked it with the sharpest knife in the house, and we didn't make a dent in the bag or the ropes/straps. The locks are great. Learn more ... https://loctote.com/collections/all?...SAAEgIrdPD_BwE. They are not theft-proof - but they're a major, mega deterrent! No macheté going to cut those straps! And no macheté will break or pierce the fabric. The inner pocket is RFI protected, too. That, and a waterproof cell protector (Mpow has one that floats, and you can use your phone while it's in the case!) ... you're good to go! Lock it to a fence or other immovable, and it's safe - It's all gonna be there when you come out of the water. Or the bar. Or wherever.
