Favorite economical non beach/cliff side?
Hello everyone. I’m assisting a friend with a trip to Negril. She’s planning April’ish. May be just her or maybe with a boyfriend. What’s your suggestions for an economical (approx $100 or less) place to stay. Of course thinking across the road near the beach, but not opposed to west end. Thanks!

Baylaker,
Tell her to call White Sands. Best value on the beach .. IMO.... ( tell her to see pics and reviews 0 Many repeat customers come to this place, and perfect for solo or a couple. ( tell her to call direct to the office )...

I am interested in hearing more responses re White Sands. I looked at the website and both the site and prices look great to me. We always stay at Catcha but I'd like to spend two nights on the beach next time and then the rest at Catcha. I'm cheap so 60 bucks a night looks good to me--more money for drinks!
Re: Favorite economical non beach/cliff side?
In April there is of course different pricing depending on time you go...seems like April 15th is the magic number for the offseason rates to kick in. You can find places even like Cocolapalm edging down to low 100s...but for a true discount on beach..White Sands is tough to beat for their offseason rates down in the 60s a night..

xtabi, garden side (rooms for as low as around $50 a night) or room 7 or 8, which are $80 a night and cliffside, but set back a bit.

tuffgong..
I have stayed at White Sands for years, it is the best value on the beach ( IMO )..rooms are basic, but immaculately clean , great ac, hot water always, a fridge in every room, and a nice little patio or balcony with every room. The bar is a great social bar, the security and staff, excellent. They now have a new Chef, and a dinner menu, and are serving some awesome food. Not to mention it is on the beast area of the beach !
Re: Favorite economical non beach/cliff side?
I should clarify that last post...they have always served breakfast and lunch, but now, just recently added dinner as well !!!
Re: Favorite economical non beach/cliff side?
Jojo, we like the cliffs area but I'd like to do a two for one next time, stay 3 days on the beach and then 4-5 on the cliffs. Appreciate the advice re White Sands. I remember telling people back home how little I paid at Catcha (we stayed in the smallest cottage, which was fine with us) and they were amazed. Wait til I tell them I paid $60 a night!
Does White Sands allow you to bring your own on the beach? Meaning can I buy some beer/wine and drink it in front of the resort on the beach? Catcha is so laid back and cool that way, you go to the mini mart down the road when it opens, grab what you need, and nobody bothers you. Love that about Catcha!

TuffGong..
I cannot stress how laid back WS is, I actually bring many drinks from my room , but always get a couple from the bar and tip a few bucks always ! You can go wrong with WS.. A huge group of us went there in November, and rented the villa and someone ( I will not say who ..lol :) smuggeled a bunch of ground beef, and there was no grill to bbq the beef, Francis the manager of WS, went in to Mo bay and purchased a grill..true story.. you will love chiilin at WS.
Re: Favorite economical non beach/cliff side?
Jojo, many thanks, looks like I've found my beach home. I would do as you would, bring my own but purchase out of kindness. And tip of course.
We had such a great time in Negril both because it was so laid back and also because it was so affordable. My wife and I are both civil servants with kids, so stretching our dollar is paramount. Thanks again for all of the feedback, appreciate it.
