Barry's Bold as Love, Easter 2000
RIP man...
I am deeply saddened to hear this news!! Thank you rizla for posting!!
I knew Barry when he was a little boy and he lived with Gloria Jackson and her family when the property was known as Gloria's Sunset Cottages. I have some photos somewhere of him as a child.
Can anybody please explain in sympathetic terms how he passed?? I know he had had a stroke sometime ago.....
R.I.P. Barry
Thank you rizla!! I have thought about Barry over the years and was saddened to hear about his stroke. I know how devastating stokes can be. I hope he passed peacefully with his loved ones by his side.... He was a great human being!!
Miss G tutored him when he was in primary school.
RIP
David
Thanks for the information
Had many good conversations with Barry over the years. RIP
RIP Barry.
Over the years I have had many serious conversations with Barry. Sometimes we would talk about religion, politics, how to live life. Sometime fun conversations about music or my Green Bay Packers. I think I converted him into a Packer fan.. RIP barry
Partied there many times. Remember the later 90's when he had a packer bar theme going. Peace to him and his family

RIP Brother
rizla and Harleymon great pictures of Barry!! I last saw him in 1998 during a trip to Negril after a 10 year hiatus and he was the same friendly happy go lucky guy that I had remembered. Does anybody know who his next of kin is??
I am so saddened to hear of this. I've known Barry for years and last saw him this April at which time he seemed to be recovering from his stroke. But I know it was quite a serious stroke he had last year. Very sad news. The world has lost a fine man. RIP.
Paid condolences to his wife yesterday. She said there will be a candlelight vigil Tuesday evening at sundown starting from the hotel. The funeral is Saturday at a church in Negril in the Red Ground area (not sure which one). I plan to go to both.
I met Barry on my first trip to negril 18 years ago. RIP Barry.
rtitle thank you very much for the update and information on the services. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend in body but will be there in spirit!! I would like to write a letter of condolence to Barry's wife including any photos I have of him from his childhood. Do you know his wife's name and an address where I can send it or an e-mail address?? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and respect. johng
Liz is the name of Barry's wife. Wonderful woman originally from Liberia. She is going to continue to run the hotel/bar. Last night she was playing Barry's music & there was a nice vibe there. I don't have her email but I'll get it and PM it to you, johng.

From the candlelight memorial on Tuesday
I just returned from Negril. I was fortunate to be able to go down for the funeral. Here is a phone number for Barry's: 876-865-2219. I hope this helps! If not, let me know and I will be able to contact Liz for you through some people I am in contact with in the yard.
rtitle,
It was a beautiful service and I feel very grateful for having the opportunity to be a part of this. Did you go to the yard afterward? I must have seen you at some point, but I am not sure what you look like... respect.
Rizla,
If you were at the funeral you saw me. I was the white guy who got up and spoke, right after Lollette spoke. I was sitting behind you in the church I think.
Richard
rizla thank you very much and awesome that you were able to go down for the funeral. Glad to hear it was a beautiful Service. You are a true friend.
rtitle you too are a true friend and thanks for getting up and speaking to Barry and his assembled family and friends, not an easy thing to do.
I feel blessed having known Barry although a long time ago. He was a great kid / man and I will miss his broad smile, quick wit and huge heart.
Respect to Barry and all that were lucky enough to have known him!!
I rented a place at miss Mary's next door for around a year in or around 99' . In those days money was tight and Barry helped us out from time to time. Great guy and a very good chess player . I was fortunate enough to see him on my trip in January. It was probably 15 years since I've seen him. We talked about the old days Packers 90s.
RIP old friend
