Where to stay 20 day?
So here’s the thing coming nov.20 for 10 days at Coco then returning dec.21 for 7 days at firefly. Now last night had the thought, because I’m newly retired, why not just not go home and stay in between and just send mrs. wee home (she has to work) So looking for ideas for 20 days on the beach. Looking to stay under 2 grand for 20 days. Found Roots cafe rooms at roots bamboo for about 1600. Looks nice enough but have no knowledge. Any thoughts on roots or other ideas?
Thanks...and please don’t hate me cuz I’ll be there for 37 days....
Wee.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Hi ,
No way I would suggest to stay at Roots...
Look at what Alfreds will do for you. Also, Chippewa village.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
One more, Drifters rents rooms now, nothing fancy I'm sure..but I hear is very secure, and since you are looking at high season, your choices will be limited.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Thanks jojo for the quick reply.
What’s up,with roots?
Will check drifters,

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Weeboy...are you wanting to stay only on the beach?
And...is that $2000 CAN or US? :friendly_wink:

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Alfreds is 60US per day plus tax. Each room has a fridge and its own washroom. Also it has the greatest seaview porch on the second floor. Great for grooving

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Hi, that’s Canadian. I’m open to suggestions but lean toward staying on the beach. Done the cliffs before and it is beautiful but we find we miss the beach access , food and people.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
I hope you can get into Alfred's. Great family, that runs a tight ship and lives on site.
Haven't heard anything but good from folks that have stayed there...unlike other places.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
On the beach...if Alfreds doesn't work...
Firefly cabins
Travellers cabins
Fun Holiday
Ansells Thatchwalk cottages

Chippewa Village could be a good option

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Well I just did a Trivago search and you can get into Negril Palms for $68/night + tax for Dec 1st-21st. I've stayed there and it's nice (I thought my room was as good as CCLP, even though you'd probably be better off wandering to The Yard Beach House for a better bar experience). Also $51+tax at Fun Holiday... the cosmic Moose has stayed there a couple of times, so I'm sure it's decent. Finally you can go to the Negril Beach Club for for $60+ tax. I would take all of those over Roots...
FYI, That's all US$..

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Any issues using sites like Trivago and the like to book rooms in Negril? I have never used them but given the low prices am curious
-
Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Thanks all, have stayed at negril palms before and did like it. It’s no coco but price is right.
I will check into it as well as Alfreds, fun holiday, travellers etc.
Want a bargain but because it’s 20 days don’t want bargain basement...if you know what i mean.
Thanks again for the input.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Is bar b barn up and running again?
They seemed closed last November but they come up on the booking sites.
1700.ish Canadian for Deluxe room with breakfast incl.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
If you don't insist on being right in Negril, you can get much better deals on Airbnb. Airbnb shows plenty of places available, anywhere from $17/night on up. For those unfamiliar with Airbnb, it's like staying in someone's home as a houseguest. You have to sign up and create a profile so the host knows who they are renting to. It's worth signing up if you travel, since it's all over the world and you can find great places to stay. I can recommend an Airbnb in Lucea I've stayed at in the past.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
weeboy,
I do believe Bar b Barn is reopened..I would call direct though and really get a good feel talking to someone person to person...they positive is they have great breakfast, a nice bar, t he negative, right next to Bourbon Beach. As far as a place that has a decent social bar , in your range and good area on the beach, Fun Holiday, or Alfred's. While Travelers is on the far end of the beach, next to town, there are a lot of folks that like it there, but a narrow, small beach is a deal breaker for me there. It all depends on what's important to you. Where I stay would be good . White Sands , but I doubt they would have an opening for such a long stay at that time, but worth a call, direct number..1-305-503-9074. Good luck !

Well...thanks for the input but not really close to what I originally asked about. I’m staying in Negril, prefer beach, and I’m not staying in Lucea!
Anyone have thoughts on Bar b Barn? Almost stayed there a couple years ago but it was booked.
Looked to be a charming little place similar to white sands.
On Expedia can be had for just over 1600. Canadian all in.
Also seriously looking at negril palms. Been there before so I know exactly what I’m getting. It’ll be well over 2k though after I ad the needed fridge to the room.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Thanks Jojo just saw your post after my last one.
Have stayed at white sands before and really enjoyed it. I don’t believe they have availability for my times.
Good info ,appreciate it.

Well I said the Negril Palms room was similar to CCLP, not the whole property ;) Plus, when I stayed there, it was Sept and I got it for $50/night+tax. In the end, my place is usually WS but it's tough to get in there this late because it has a huge crew of return patrons...

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
I think Jamaica Tamboo has good rates for long-term stays.

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Thanks all for the input.
Deals done! Flights rearranged and got negril palms for 9 days followed by white sands for 11.
Both places I’ve been before and was very happy with.
Cindy at Alfreds was wonderful to talk to and I was really interested to try there but in the end I’m getting more for less with others and couldn’t pass.
38 days on the beach....I’m gonna look like Tom Hanks in castaway!!

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Weeboy,
Great.. you are lucky that you were able to get into White Sands at that time ..awesome !.. Yes, Cindy and the Alfreds family are great, and while that is more '' roughing it '' than the other places, I had suggested it as you said you said you were entertaining the thought of Roots....oh dear..no ( lol )..
38 days on the beach, in a couple great places...….lucky you..
( I'm sooooorrrry Wilson !! :) )

Well I guess I'll see ya at Whites Sands when you finally make it there (or maybe Yard Beach House, if you decide to pop in there from the Palms while I'm visiting Rudy). :encouragement:
PS. I've adjusted the roll calls...

Re: Where to stay 20 day?
Just saw the roll call. That’s beautiful!
Although...If I’m already there till dec.28 maybe I should just say and celebrate New Years too!....lol
Will for sure stop by yard beach and will surely see ya at WS...do you play crib?

More of a pinochle guy myself... but alot of those games are similar...
PS. Once I land, 'sand gravity' keeps me from updating the roll calls, so have at it if you stay beyond the 28th!
