Do you unpack or ditch the luggage grab and beer and head to beach for your first stroll or ..?
I make sure all the locks on my doors are working.
Good question. For me (us) it really depends on when we arrive, if we arrive during the afternoon, we will often go for a walk and check out the hood OR if we arrive around sunset we'll go find a good place to watch our first sunset of the trip OR if we get in after sunset we'll usually got for dinner and have an early night in, we are usually tired after our travels and often have an early night on our first night.
Peace,
Islander
Have a bob marley shot.. its a tradition!
check in and then hit the grocery store.
Tap dance at check in then take a leak. Seriously, I have already broken the tap hours ago and the numerous beers have set in.
I get to my room, throw on a bathing suit and head to the beach/bar for a cocktail. If my room's not ready, I change into my bathing suit in the ladies room. There's always time to unpack later. I do, however, throw my valuables in the safe before I leave the room.
Probably the very first thing I do...is smile until mi face hurts!!! First thing after customs, grab a rum and coke or a ting with vodka. Then head off to Negril. Stop pon the way to have some jerk. After checking in, generally head to the bar to say hello to everyone and chill! Unpack later in the evening. Counting down the days right now. 27 days and counting!! Yeah!!!!! :)
Eat jerk chicken from 3 dives.. Yum yum
first thing I do in Negril is hit HiLo before I get to the hotel............
change money, buy beer and staples for the room.......
then mi all set for the beginning of the reach.........
though maybe this next reach mi will try to hit the Megamart in MoBay.......dunno
and of course on the way to Negril one has to stop at Biggas in Green Island.....
Cool Runnings, Marko
The first thing I do is put on my swimsuit and hit the beach. The second thing I do is have a dirty banana.
1. Stop at the ATM for money.
2. Check in at Seastar, go to the room and log in to my networks up North.
3. Go to the bar and have a drink and call my son or nephew and set up a time to go to the yard.
Just routine and boring but I do enjoy being back every time....
Unpack and go for a swim.
Hey Lovely stole mine! LOL
We ALWAYS head to 3 dives for chicken, it is our traditional first day in Negril meal.....but depending on when we get in, the FIRST thing might actually be a drink at the bar and a sit and view the beauty moment (especially if there is a hammock nearby).....THEN it is off to 3 dives
LOL
Hellos and hugs with everyone at the Donaldsons ................ move luggage to rooms .............. jump into a swimsuit ............... get a Red Stripe at Lena's Inn Ting .............. go stand waist deep in the ocean ................... don't unpack until the next morning or the morning after that ............... it will not seem so important later ............. sometimes lots of clothes never leave the suitcase ................. hence my favorite advise to newbies - "Take twice the money and half the clothes"
Captain Oil good advice!!!!!!!!!!!Not a newbie but this is something I need to remember!!
We stop to pick up some beverages for the fridge, check in and unpack. I like to have everything on hangers and in drawers. Can't stand living out of a suitcase. Usually the first thing is a walk through the lovely tropical garden and then off to the bar for a cocktail.
First and last thing I do in Negril - stop at the Hi-Lo for Banana rum cream.
First thing I do is pay tribute to Bob Marley .....
I never unpack, drop the bag in t
he room and hit the streets.
patty and ice cold box juice on the way from the airport
then when arriving in negril - throw bags in room and hit the water. do not pass go, do not collect $200.00, go directly to the sea and swim til dark.
i don't bother unpacking or grocery shopping til next morning, when i can wake up leisurely and do errands in full chillax mode :D
On our first reach we stayed at Coco La Palm and we were starving when we got there, so went over to Best in the West and ate. We have made it our traditional first stop in Negril. It's a great spot to people watch, enjoy the atmosphere, and start getting in the Negril groove...not to mention some great chicken. Love it!
Gerry123 and Marko....got a LOL out of me!!! The first thing I do is get my feet into that beautiful blue ocean...with a rum punch!
after a 10 hr+ flight its food, shower and sleep,
If I get in during the day which is the norm for me... activate my phone, drink a RS on the way to Negril, go to the store & get my groceries, put away groceries, unpack, get cleaned up, head to the beach to see what's up!
Fall back on the bed with a big smile on my face..
Unpack. It only takes 5 minutes. Then, its into the ocean with a drink in hand.
However, if you are asking what the first thing I do after clearing Customs is, that's easy......time for a Red Stripe and a patty at the bar just outside the doors!
Okay, Alfred is my transportation. We head to MegaMart, Bigga's for jerk chicken and homemade soup. We proceed Hi-Lo to exchange monies and pick up fruits, tea, etc. I drop my stuff off in the room and always place my personals and cash in the safe, check out my surroundings and head to the beach! Negril, Negril, when will I return.....
Pop a Redstripe and Spark a Fatty! :D
I've been having fun reading all the responses to this question.
As for me, I just get into hotel and open my suitcase.
I throw the wallet/passport into the safe.
I put on my bathing suit and run straight to the water.
Sometimes I'm still tying the strings on my bikini while I'm sprinting.
There is nothing like that first dip in the crystal clear cool ocean water to mark the official beginning of a vacation.:)
You don't want to know... ;) . might get me kicked off our ride... not really.
Usually I get a drink and go DIRECTLY to the beach and jetski to become connected w/ with the ocean and feel the breeze thru my hair. It's the best feeling ever when you first get there!
Put on my snorkel mask and float face down in those impossibly clean and warm buoyant waters.
I head to L&M Grocery to stock up on beer, Ting, Tonic, rum and ice!
Take off my sneakers (they weigh more than flip flops, so I wear them on the plane ...) outside the airport, and breathe deeply! Last time, we went in June, and it was so hot, that
between the plane and the outside of the terminal, my nail polish melted off my toes, and was on my socks! Seriously. I loved it! The view from outside Arrivals, up that hill to the hotel or apartments or whatever is up there ..... that's my "you're here!" moment!
