Sprats Yard Party @ DeBar....Big Success :)

Well, when Friday arrived we pretty much had all the arrangements set for the party and we were ready! We got a call from 'Champ' at 6:30am in the morning that the boys weren't there to pick up the goats. Made a couple of the calls and they were on their way. The goats were up the lane from Xtabi...and around 7 am, I heard goats out front going by. We called Champ and they were pick up on a motorscooter....one on the front and one on the back....lol

I made it clear from the beginning that I did not want to see them before..... but I heard them yelling out to me as they went by.... :(

We dropped up to DeBar early afternoon and the cooks were busy in the kitchen. The pots were on the fire, and the vegetables were ready to be chopped for the soup. The coconut was cut and ready for the rice and peas. There was going to be lots of food for everyone!

Eddie was stocking the bar and making sure there were lots of cold drinks in the cooler.

We left the yard and walked back to Xtabi to kick back and have a swim before the party.

OOoo, I have heard goats crying before " dinner" and I didn't like it either. :(

This party and all that you and everyone else did for it just sounds amazing. I am so glad it was a success, and so glad everyone had fun.....maybe this will become a new tradition...and if so, I hope to make it there one day!

It was time to get dressed for the party and head up to De Bar before everyone started arriving. There were some people already there...and the place looked great. Pam was at the bar and Eddie and Trevor were getting working around. The meal consisted of mannish water ( goats head soup ), curried goat, salad and rice and peas and it was delicious. The food was ready right on time as the everyone arrived, mingled, grabbed and drink and headed to the kitchen.

Sweetness...is just that.... sooooo sweet! She arrived with a jug of sorrel and a wonderfully delicious looking cake. I was all over the place, greeting newbies, chatting with others and just trying to keep up...lol

Rosalind arrived a bit later and she brought some beautiful pumpkin cake. Both sweets were a hit and didn't last long. Thanks to you lovely ladies for providing the sweets. Glenna's husband contributed a 'BIG' bottle of vodka....and I think he needs to take some of the blame for the morning-after affects of a few of us! ;)

Diane arrived shortly after 5pm and had the donation plant box for 'Tending the Garden'. It wasn't mandatory but the donations filled the box from all the boardies. :) Way to go guys and thanks for opening your hearts! It's always a good cause helping the children of Jamaica.

Jason ( Fathead) and his friend did all the cleaning, prepping and cooking of the goat. Last year I was at Fatheads birthday at 3 Dives...and I knew he was going to be the guy for this job. :) Thanks for all your hard work and feeding everyone! The plates were served up quickly and it was only good reviews on the food!

I'm happy that the event went on without a hitch, Sprat. That curry goat looks fantastic.

Thanks for all the work you did to get this party going. I think the goats name were "Billy Goat" and the other was "Peter Goat"........Peter was the bigger one...!! Did you have and left-overs ? I made it home but, U.S. Customs wanted to know about the 5 bottles of "Grace Ketchup" ?? I told them it's the best in the world..!! This is after the X-Ray of all the bags.... I told them I have been using " Castile" Soap with olive oil for 25 years now.. I think I got them with the Ketchup.. I wanted to thank Jackie and Peter for another Jamaican Tour. That was Tour # 53 1979 - 2011 .. Thanks to all the people that made "Occupy Negril" a Hit....Keep-up the power. We do "Hope for a Change"...Thanks, Woodymon P.S. Jackie "Susan said "HI"...

I hope you are not all disappointed but camera went away early in the evening. It was just too hard to try and take pics of everything going on. I was trying to be the 'perfect hostess which meant chatting and great boardies as they arrived. The place was packed and I knew that Poolguy was taking lots of pics :)

All said and done, we fed over 100 people through the evening. My hubby was great getting me up the road, making sure all our Xtabi friends were taken care of for drinks. He is such a wonderful husband for putting up with me....hahaha...and me with him ;)

The night was a blast and we couldn't have asked for a better turn out!

Last by not least....I want to thank Eddie Myrie @ Debar and all of his family and crew for hosting this great party along with me. They have been wonderful friends over the years, and they sure stepped up to the plate to turn this event into a big success.

Love the idea, love the photos, love the vibe!! I wish that I could have been there and met all of you. :D DeBar is such a fabulous venue for a party!! The food looked delicious, I've tried manish water but it's not for me; a little to pastey tasting for my taste. Curried goat on the other hand, I LOVE. Such a wonderful idea to raise money for the childen of Jamaica, Jackie, I love your style and hope to meet you in person one day.

Perfection Sprat!!!! Only wish I could have made it!! Congratulations on a big success for everyone involved! It takes a lot of work to pull these kinds of things off, more than most realize. I was thinking it would be a good turn out, but was a great turnout! I have my pictures up on facebook will try to get some over here. I have to say I had a full cup of manish water (you mean those were not noodles in there? wtf were they?) The curry goat was really good, and could not stop goin back for another piece of that pumpkin cake!

Jackie - I cherish the time I got to spend with you. I already felt connected to you before we met but now you are in my heart for sure. I love your spirit and joy - its contagious. Thanks to you and Peter for hosting this great event, it is so important to give back and it feels SO GOOD. I was thinking again about that moment that I feel so happy at the party and I remembered Oprah talking about JOY RISING....thats what it was Joy rising.

I am sad that you are headed home but now I have a deeper friendship with you and for that I am so grateful. Travel safe and until we meet again.........blessings flow.

One year, on the morning of Pee Wee's birthday bash, a bunch of the people from Blue Cave Castle went to Pee Wee's for breakfast. I didn't go. I stayed in the BCC yard. Kay, suz, BarbW and the usual crew went to breakfast. All of a sudden a sound, not unlike a baby screaming, could be heard up and down the coast. I ran over to the wall between BCC and Moonlight Villa and asked what that was all about. They said they had just butchered a goat at Pee Wee's for the bashment that night. Needless to say it ruined everyone's breakfast.
They butchered the goat not 30 feet from where everyone was eating. At least they had the door closed to the dirt floored room in the back. :eek:

Sprat, sorry I didn't make it, too many plans in one day ~ so happy for your great turnout~!

I popped in for a little while in the evening, and yes there was definitely at least a hundred people there..it was my last night and I didn't stay long..it was my last night there and just had to go to the beach one last time that evening and let my toes say goodbye to the sea..but it was really good to meet some fellow boardies, particularly Sprat and Sweetness and Woodymon and I'm sorry if I left anyone out too..the curried goat was very good. :)
