West end Tales: December 2022
Flight was delayed, Immigration hall was packed, Oz waited patiently for me outside. Sangster didn’t update the flight board for the drivers waiting outside!
Oz grabbed my luggage and we were off to Negril. Stopped at Valerie’s on the way for a few cold ones.
Great catching up with Oz and he is doing well.
It was dark when we got to Negril and I was tired from a long travel day, so skipped my usual stop at Mi Yard and headed straight for Seastar. Chris greeted me as we pulled in.
Dropped everything in my room and headed to the bar. Osheen and Kim were very entertaining at the Seastar bar last night.
It was an early night and I slept well.
Got up this morning and unpacked, then a quick jump in the pool. My goal was ten laps, but it was more like 2.5!
Showered, changed and headed down for breakfast and coffee!
Keena is doing a great job serving breakfast and Santana made me an amazing omelette!
Chilling here at Seastar for a few hours, then probably head to the beach.
Enjoy,
Happy aka VVHT

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
After breakfast I felt guilty about the 2.5 laps, so back in the pool to complete the laps.
Laid by the pool for a bit, try not to burn too early in the trip.
Note to future self, don’t be a cheap ******* and definitely book Club Mo Bay on arrivals in the future!
Immigration hall was PACKED yesterday. The lines were backed up the ramp past the 1st line of kiosks!
Chilling on my balcony, nice breeze blowing. Grooving to the tunes coming from across the lane.
Enjoy,
Happy

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Errol arrived around 1pm, picked up Rob, stopped at Mi Yard to give Delroy a Ukrainian flag, hit the Scotia Bank ATM and then he dropped us off at Fire Fly to begin our beach crawl.
Firefly for a couple
CLP for one - good to see Romeo
White Sands - no Ukrans so we moved on
Tony’s Hut - Tony was tending bar and the place was jamming!
Sea Grape - wonderful young woman and her Mother were tending the bar
Flag City to see Nash and his Crew. Gave Nash a Ukrainian flag.
Skip and Ernie stopped by to say hi
Alfred’s for a few more and a couple of burgers, then off to LTU for a few more. Had the pumpkin soup and pizza. Pumpkin soup was excellent
Headed back to Seastar and Baker showed up, so the party continued for a few more hours.
It was an excellent beach crawl day and cliff crawl night!
Chilling on my balcony
Enjoy

Jamaicans are mad crazy for Brazil in the World Cup!

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Errol picked me and Rob up and headed to Scotia for funds, dropped us off at the bus park.
Grab a route taxi to Sav. Full taxi to and from
Hit the tax office in Sav, lines too long!
Did some window shopping and then decided to hit the QQ Bar for beverages while we watched Portugal defeat Switzerland. Ask the bartender for menus, sorry no food! Extra credit to those who know why it is called the QQ Bar.
A guy on a scooter says he can get box lunches fast fast, we order brown stew pork and chicken with rice and peas.
Total bill delivered was $700 J each! The meal was awesome!
Decided try my luck on a slot machine and lost $1,000 J
Grabbed a full route taxi back to Negril. Walked to the roundabout and grabbed another taxi to Seastar.
Decided to jump in the pool to cool off.
Chilling on my balcony, gonna be a late night tonight!
Enjoy,
VVHT

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Early evening hanging at Seastar bar, Baker arrives and we have dinner. Baker says Rexy’s wife has passed and the wake is tonight.
We walk up the lane and grab a route taxi up to Rexy’s.
Music playing , food a plenty and the rum was flowing. Paid my respect and condolences to Rexy.
Grabbed a route taxi to Mi Yard.
Wonderful night on the porch with some old friends. Loyd was in prime form!
Entertaining debate between Baker and Loyd over venues Bob Marley played in Jamaica!
Headed back to Seastar and closed the bar and then some!
Laying low today!

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Wow! Now that is a fun trip report! Makes me miss Negril terribly! We have never stayed at seastar but we have it in our future plans. We attended the live sat night shows there several times and always had so much fun! Thanks for the report and photos! Waiting for more! :applause:

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Christmas breeze has been blowing all week. Breeze picked up a bit last at Mi Yard and Loyd had to furl the flags hanging on the porch.
Last nights breeze cooled things down overnight. Had to postpone my morning swim until the sun was higher.
Chilling on my deck, enjoying the scene as it unfolds on Seastar lane.
Enjoy,

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Spent the rest of Wednesday hanging at Seastar Inn and watching the comings and goings on Seastar Lane. Rob stops by for dinner and drinks. After sunset a few current and former Seastar employees joined me at the bar.
Very fun evening, lots of laughs and stories!
Up early on Thursday, Christmas breeze cooled things down over night, but I still managed to get in the pool!
Breakfast at Seastar and then chilled until 1pm.
Steve Positive Tours picked me up, then Rob, ATM. Rob says Rasta Ralphie was downtown.
Off to Red Ground and Red Dragon. Raga Bones and Gordo say hi to all there friends.
Ordered a 1/4 lb of jerk pork, very very good!
After a few we head to Canoe. Very chill time sitting at Canoe staring at the ocean. Ordered French fries and hot chicken wings. It was delicious!
Then back to Seastar for dinner and an early night.
Today I’ll head into town with Garret to run some errands
Enjoy VVHT

Thank so much for the on-site trip report VVHT!

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Sitting in my balcony, waiting for coffee to be ready around 8am.
Headed to the pool soon for my last swim before packing.
Checked in with my flight, but bumba clot Attestation form won’t complete its process, so will have to get that done at the airport.
Wicked argument going on from the fisherman’s village across the lane. Some woman is screaming at her man for a number of transgressions!
Watched Croatia beat Brazil yesterday.
The Garret and Flem picked me up for a tour of Orange Hill, Little London and Sav.
It turned into a classic old time Jiggy Bar Tour!
Even stopped at QQ Bar in Sav for the 2nd time this week. Forgot to pay my tab, but Rob will make amends next week when he goes to Sav.
Half way through the tour we stop at Garret’s Mom’s house in Sav.
Wonderful woman with a charming house. She offered to cook me Brown Stew pork on my next trip, and i accepted her offer!
Eventually made it back to Seastar and had dinner with Rob and Baker.
Made it an early night as I have a long travel day today.
It has been a wonderful trip and can’t wait for the next,
Enjoy,
VVHT

Re: West end Tales: December 2022
Arrived home safe and sound late last night.
First three people I bump into this morning who knew I was in Jamaica last week, ALL emphatically exclaimed how lucky I was to survive after all they have seen on the news last week about Army troops in the streets trying to control the gangs out of control!!
Unbelievable!
I was out and about just about every day, two trips to Sav.
No road blocks to be seen.
